It's simple. It uses Google's great text to speech engine and has a customizable dictionary. And, as gravy, it leaves the keyboard on so you can make quick corrections without turning off speech recognition. While it seems like any dictation/speech to text app used by its developers regularly would include these features, this is the only one that does. Bravo. My only complaint is that I can't pay for an ad-free version.
It seemed to pick up the majority of my speech, though I think it needs to have a separate English choice for Southern slang and accents. This software is superior to the pre-loaded Android app in this. But everything I dictate is presented to me in triplicate, making it useless. Even then, I expected it to operate by overriding the keyboard's mic button, so I could dictate without copy and pasting. That makes it too clunky to be useful even if it didn't multiply my what I say.
My first opening of the app flashed an ad I found offensive. After 30 minutes I grew frustrated. It keeps shutting off on the middle of my speech! I had to restart an introduction 5 times! It also does not recognize any of the punctuation words and prints them out as literal text instead (ie, open and close quotes, parentheses, even colons and semicolons.) I use the web-version and never encountered as many issues with mishearing my words as I do with the app. Definately needs more work.
Worked well on my first test. I love that it provides access to the keyboard, while so many other "speech to text" apps do not. That's now a requirement for selection consideration for me, for similar apps. Though I don't currently see any reason to look any further. Stars will increase to 5, if after continued use, no issues are found.
This app is suprisingly accurate and more so given the language used involved technical words. I would, however have liked it to have an instruction manual so that l could know if it had the ability to start a new paragraph etc using voice command as opposed to my having to hit the return key. It is, other than the lack of an instruction manual, an excellent and very useful programme and one l am using to turn my hand-written research diary and essay notes into text so thank you Fmg
Kind of glitchy. Sometimes writes things completely opposite of what I said or just doesn't write them at all. And it isn't because of background noise or me not being loud enough. It is just selective about when it writes and when it doesn't. Sometimes my sister will be halfway across the house and it will hear her but not me sitting right here.
Save button should be on main interface and not in menu, so that repeated save press can be done for a longer conversation. Autosave should be provided. Sometimes result shows *** vulgar words which are not spoken. Personal dictionary is not effective.
So far so good, but i would like a feature that gives me controls so set the text to a different colour to indicate a different speaker. I would suggest a small control panel with different buttons that can be set with a name. This is perfect for group meetings that is great fro reference ans even better for interviews.
I like this app for its accuracy and ease of use. I've used the dictionary to make keywords. Very helpful. But there is something so annoying about this app that I stop using it after a few minutes. It bleeps constantly in the background, which is a huge distraction when I am trying to speak.
PROBLEM: Crashes when tap on microphone button. It doesn't work at all but IF works as precise as the web-based version (By Chrome) I can say it's the best. PLEASE fix it. I tried on three devices and crashes on all.
Absolutely awesome! Both the Android app and the PC browser version work Wonderful! Excellent! The best I have ever seen. I would highly recommend this to anyone. You can very easily copy all of your Speach-To-Text to anywhere on the web, Android, or your PC. It is a Flawless Gem!
App suddenly stops and erases what was recorded thus loosing the whole text!!!! This happens as soon as the paragraph is too large for the app. Fix this please!! I keep loosing journal entries and presentations.
really good speedh recognition! we are using this app on our phones to talk to my hard of hearing dad. one suggestion - clearing the page to start a new note should be made easier. the back arrow at the bottom right is too close to the ad button.
1. Didn't show up as voice to text on my phone. 2. When I said "I wish this could" it put that I said "Korean Santa 5". For those two reasons, especially #2, this got a lot rating and is getting uninstalled.
It hears what I am saying exactly and it does the spacing like the space for you. It also hears my adding a period at the end of a sentence. Great tool for texting.
Excellent application. It helps alot for English learners to bring the sppling of words. BUT there are some mistakes when you are offline. I think you could do better.
i love this app. It's accurate especially when you choose your accent. i just wish the button floated above the keyboard when its up. other than that i can't fault it. great job guys.
Awesome, i specially tnx to developer and team. That build such a helpful apps. Actually, i am a content writer and i use this tool to convert speech to text.
It's an ok app. Definitely very helpful if it cud recognize words properly n could convert into text. But it sometimes does not do what it's intended to do so two star for that.
Works ok for the most part. Sometimes dictating doesn't carry through accurately. Recently has been bad everything I dictate gets typed twice. Not sure why worked well until recently
The program works pretty well so far, but I can't yet get it to do semicolons, and it randomly capitalizes, --tho not always the first word in a sentence! Doh!
A speech texter app is supposed to be hands free. You must tap screen to start voice recognition, tap again to send (there are No voice commands), tap to select app to use for sending, tap to choose recipients, tap to execute sending. That's NOT HANDS FREE.
Popped up a dialogue asking me to rate my experience as soon as I opened it, before I'd even seen the main screen! OK then. Based on that, my experience rating at this stage is 1 star. Now, can I actually use the damned thing for a bit, before you go hassling me for a rating?
I use this all the time, in 3 languages. Things I love: it auto-saves, there is access to the keyboard, and also (without opening the keyboard) to punctuation, carriage return, and backspacing; it recognises my languages and (mostly) correctly spells words; it's easy and intuitive to use; I can easily copy and/or share the whole text. Things I don't love: sometimes it's slow to switch to the microphone; it sometimes drops words; random capitalisation of words; you have to speak clearly and slowly for an accurate transcription, although it happily picks up comments from nearby; there's no undo/redo function and you can't backspace to delete single letters from a word for correcting--the backspace deletes whole words only.
