When it's working, does what it says on the tin. When you stop, and it puts up an ad, there's an irresponsibly tiny close button on it, which is distracting and dangerous when moving off with the traffic. How is this ethical? It would be different if the ad stayed on the screen for, say, 5 seconds after moving again, and then auto closed, but you have to take your eyes off the road, find the 2px x 2px close button, and tap it.
Great app. I love the different display options and features; not to mention it's FREE! The only minor con is sometimes the one ad that pops up happens at the worst time when riding my motorcycle. I can't see the app until I can stop to close it out (my riding gloves prevent me from using the touchscreen). Small price to pay for the app. Suggestion: maybe have the ad pop up when the speed is zero. That would allow us to see it and get back to the app quickly and safely.
UPDATE: Full page ads pop up while driving. Completely unsafe and extremely annoying especially since the back button won't get rid of the ad. You have to read through it and find the "close" button. This app was great before I was forced to download version 2. Has worked every time I've used it and definitely helps when your speedometer reads incorrectly
I use this in my car for a speedometer because the one in my dash doesn't work. It's very annoying to use this app in the dark driving down the road then all of a sudden a bright full screen ad pops up blinding you and you can't see how fast your going. Without the ads it was great but now with the ads they blind you in the dark and you have to try and click the close button on them to return to the app. Very dangerous and annoying!
So far I've had no bugs. I tested the app against a mechanical speedometer and it's very accurate after the initial takeoff. Great features and love the ability to change colors. It's a great addition to my classic truck. It's clear and doesn't require a lot of fumbling around while you drive. (I suggest learning your way around the app before actually driving with it). Clip it high on your dash lets the cops know that I'm aware of my speed and so far I've had no issues. Thanks. Great job devs
App works great. Lots of features. I have to agree with everyone else about the intrusive ad on this version. On a motorcycle, sitting at a stop light with gloves on and ad comes up. Doesn't go away until you click the X. I understand there is a paid version, but have the ad come up when you first start the app, not in a dangerous situation. Else, I'll pay to remove the ads due to the app working perfectly otherwise. Free version can be frustrating though.
I never write reviews but this app definitely deserves it! This app is WAY better than the speedometer on WAZE. This app shows your speed, odometer and even logs your top speed traveled! It's huge and easy to see, you can change the colors too. I've used alot of other speedometer apps and by far this one is the best, it shows how many satellites you're connected to and has a compass, which is very helpfull. If you have a lifted truck with oversized tires, GET THIS APP! Seriously it is the best one out there. There are minimal ads that pop up but I'm pretty sure you can upgrade to a paid membership to remove the ads.
I downloaded this app to calibrate the speedometer of a new car. It did that, for part of a trip, until I looked down and had a full-screen ad instead of my speed. In a country where you're not allowed to even touch your phone when driving, there's a big crackdown on distracted drivers and new technology to catch them, HUGE fines and people sent to jail if stuff does happen, the ad was all I had for the rest of the trip. So it gets more than 1 star, as it basically works. I understand funding free apps with ads. But how about banner ads and still show the information? Displaying ads INSTEAD OF speed renders it not fit for purpose.
This app is extremely accurate. I tested it while driving in my car, comparing to my car's speedometer, and it was always exactly right. A critique: the "large" and "larger" portrait views look identical in size. Not a big deal, but just mentioning it. I like that, whether in portrait or landscape view, you can lock the screen rotation.
Once you configure the speedometer to your preferences. It's like fine tuning your car. Simple instructions and large numbers for the driver that has problems seeing. Display is big enough the drivers behind you or along side of you can see it. Down part possible battery drain if not connected to a charger. I have yet to test that on a long drive with a full charge. Distance, power drain etcetera. Otherwise it's great. Thanks for providing this app. No pop up ads while in use. ++++
I've tried 2 other apps and I like this one the best. Only problem I've had is it will play a commercial or an ad will appear when I'm driving. I get that ads are how they make money, but could it not appear when I'm driving?! Give it at the beginning when you first open app or at the end when you go to leave app, but not in the middle of use. I don't want to have to screw with my phone while driving in order to get back to the purpose of the app. Need to fix that would be my advice.
It randomly interrupts your speedometer to toss advertisements at you. To me that's a bit of a safety concern, especially when you're on the freeway and the only way to get back to seeing what your speed is is for you to find the tiny little 'X' box to close the dangerous ad. Guess making a quick buck is more important than getting to your destination without collision. *Shrug*
Works great. My speedometer quit and this app has been very useful. I've, unlike a few bad reviews, never had the reported in use ads pop up during actual use. If i make a stop and turn off the display then turn it back on pausing the app, sure I've had ads and when i close the app i get ads at the end of use. Never while driving though. It's proven very useful many times. I like the functions a bit mote than other apps and i like that i can use it with maps as well.
This app is Awesome. It's the first one I tried and is perfect for what I need. My speedometer is broken in my van and I was risking a speeding fine every day I drove it. This app has solved the problem. The app itself is so simple, basic and to the damn point that it can't be faulted. No lengthy set up. No ridiculous options you will never use. Large, clear display. It has one ad that will pop up if you sit stationary for too long. I have had it pop up once. Gone in the tap of a button GET IT
Cant get the odometer to work. I start the trip and everything is fine, turn it off (using run in background mode), turn off my screen and put my phone in my pocket. When I get to my destination and open my phone the app always shows 0 and is ready to start a trip. It doesn't do this if I immediately turn it on again after starting a trip (like as if my trip was 3 seconds long). Only after, I guess, several minutes it just stops running and resets. Maybe it's not to be used this way.
Great app that works great for me so far! My truck speedometer was disconnected when I bought the truck, so this app works GREAT to keep me aware of how fast I'm going instead of me just having to guess. I can turn my phone on its side and set it above my steering wheel (in the dash instrument area) and it tells me my current speed, my max speed, and how far I've gone. AND my phone stays lit up so I don't have to keep reaching down to turn it back on! I love it! This is a great app! A+!
For 2 months this was my go to speedometer app. Because I choose the colors I prefer. It says that all colors can be changed to the users preference. Not anymore. My advice is, don't lie about it. Really bummed about it. I have tried it 1 More Time. Every color can be changed except for the digits. That was the best feature. Now it is gone. W T ∆ one more possibly dangerous item. very soon after opening there is an add. Then again about 5 minutes later, and every 5 minutes after.
It will freeze on you right when you don't need it to. I've had it five times go upside down and when I try to get it back it actually reverses itself so you can't really read the numbers they are backwards. Way too many ads and very intrusive right when you need to navigate an ad pops up. I'm taking this off of my phone and finding something else.
Can't use it as a speedometer, because the ads are too intrusive. The developers replied to another individual saying they only show when stopped - this is not true. They show whenever they want. Having a banner ad or an ad that takes up half the screen while leaving the speedometer visible? Understandable. Having an ad take up the entire screen while in motion to pressure me into buying your app? Not understandable. Edit: the developers smartass response basically says everything.
Got it set up quite easily at first, but then I turned it on and it changed to a different setup and I couldn't figure out how to get it back to the original, which was just the speed full screen on my phone. This is annoying. Why does such a simple setting have to be complicated? Tried all of the settings, the help function, and the hamburger/dots in the upper corner. None produced the simple answer I needed. With poor eyesight & busy schedule who wants a video for something so simple?
The free app is practically unusable because of ads that take over at every stop light. The x to close the adds moves around so you have to really look at screen to get screen back. Very unsafe. The speedometer and its functions are great but the adds ruin it. Edit: Downloaded ad free version and it is great! We'll worth it. 5 stars
The app worked well but it had one issue that made it unusable for me. I used it when the speedometer on my motorcycle was broken. The first time you stop at a traffic light on an any trip an ad covers the screen and you have to touch the screen to remove it. I wear gloves when I ride so that was a problem. It's a free app. I know there has to be ads unless you pay for it. The ads should go away or be short when moving. I still give it 4 stars because this will not be an issue for most people.
Can't calibrate compass even after trying to duplicate the action in linked video (guess I just not capable of doing the motion just like I am not capable of dancing). Oh well probably never gonna use that anyway. The drive with maps is perfect, never miss a turn off the busy street without a light. Speedometer is cool looking and very accurate.
