Originally the app worked great, but recently just wouldn't work. At first, I got a generic response from support, seemingly to push me away. I got a better response later, but no dice. Now, I have received another message stating they fixed the issue, server side, and the app works again. Another thank you to the support who continued to diagnose the problem.
UPDATE:: I have a tablet that the app was working on but for some reason, the app wont open up. I reset spiderman and the app keeps telling me to check my wifi. My wifi is fine. All my other devices run smooth. The app wont even try to connect to spiderman anymore. I keep getting "check wifi configiration" checking connection. I got this for $100 for my 10yr old and it wont connect to my galaxy s9. Can you guys please update this app so it can run on android 10 update. Please and thank you!
Got this as a Christmas gift from my wife and the app won't pair at all on my Samsung Galaxy 20 Ultra. The app won't work at all. Just says it's unable to connect to the internet through the wifi, even though I re-downloaded the app on it minutes before reopening it. Sphero doesn't seem to give an eff about keeping their products working with newer hardware without forcing you to jump through a ton of hoops.
App is now up and running. Works pretty well but clunky at times. Pretty disappointed there's not a fix for Android 10 I had to dig out an old tablet. Appreciate the customer service response, would have liked more information upfront that they were working on a fix not just aware of the issue. Had to complain on multiple fronts to get more info. But it works and I have a happy kid so all's well
Was great until I had to reset to factory defaults on Spider-Man. Now i can't get past the "Select Your Alias"in the app during setup. Boo. ----------------------------- I raised my star rating as Sphero contacted me and let me know they were working the issue. They then contacted me to let me know it is working. The App and Spider-man work great now!
This toy was a gift for my two years old son from his grandfather last year. My boy was afraid of it at the beginning so I had the opportunity to play with it myself (huge fan of Spidey) It's an amazing toy and my son three years old starting to like it a lot. The only problem was that after playing for almost a year when I installed the app again I had to start over. Could not find a way to restore my progress. But definitely an amazing toy
Won't connect with phones. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and the app won't connect to my kids Spiderman. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Get a message that says the app may need an update but there is no update on the play store. I also have an iPhone XR. The Spiderman won't connect to that either. Does sphero still support this? Got this for my kid at Christmas and it doesn't even work.
The last time the app was updated was two years ago and now it wont let me get into the app, saying that theres something wrong with my wifi connection. Everything on my phone is running smoothly except this app. I got the spiderman as a birthday gift and now I'm disappointed that I wont be able to use my spider man.
App isn't working. Blight the Spider-Man fort my son. Was a really cool toy. The app connects to the toy and says is connecting to the internet but then just basically stops. Everyone having issues it says because the OS is 10 but three phone we are trying to use is a Samsung galaxy 6 with Android 7.0 which gas in the range of compatibility.
i love it i got it for christmas and it is so fun i just wish that sphero would add more storys and jokes though. also when i ask him what time it is he says the wrong time and i know that you have to update it and sink it again but there are no updates i would like if you guys at sphero would put on opition on the settings so you can set the time or sink it to you divice again. but spider man is still a great toy. if it could play music form my spotify that would make spider man so much better.
Immediately after I reached home I unboxed it and after I reached half the way through the first setup of the toy through the app they showed me that the wifi is slow pls reconnect or forget. I was going to press reconnect but by mistake I pressed on forget and my wifi just disappeared. I reinstalled the app several times and tried, tried on different devices at home, reinstalled it and my wifi still doesn't appear in the select your wifi network page . pls help me put of this sphero.
Won't connect to Spidey. iOS version still works! I understand why development on the app would cease because the product has now been discontinued for years but would love to see one last update to turn this guy into a smart speaker like an Alexa device or a Google Nest Mini. It'd be so cool to have Spider-Man as a digital assistant!
Does not connect to app enabled Spider-Man with Samsung Galaxy S10....Edit: Devs at Sphero here apparently expect me to downgrade my phone or get an additional one to keep on using the now paper weight toy/alarm which cost an arm and a leg. My kids will continue to be diassapointed. Good thing I didn't pay full price for this piece of junk and found it on clearance for $20 bucks... Thanks a lot for that simple solution.....
So because i upgrade my phone im now no longer able to enjoy the spider man device i bought? Surely this cant be right? A person who buys a product should be able to get enjoyment out of it for as long as they have the device. Because im sure when people was buying this product it wasnt stated that it would become unusable after a period of time. And for the cost of the device for it to stop working for everyone is outrageous. What are you going to do for this issue.
Possibly a great toy but I am especially dissappointed because this was a birthday present for my son and it won't even allow us to get past the initial start up so that he can have some bit of fun with it. Connects to our devices and the wifi but when choosing an alias it just stops on the loading and will not proceed. I have changed what device to use, different wifi, uninstall/reinstall and even reset the toy to fix said problem. I've resorted to waiting for a day to call tech support.
App will not connect to internet, it was working one day, and the next it kept telling me to check wifi settings. I've tried multiple phones, old, new, very old... Still not working..... Ughhhh my son loves his spidey.... But the app needs to be fixed!!!
This is the second Sphero I have bought. It will not connect to my Samsung galaxy note 10. And it is an app problem because my bb8 loads up just fine on it. I sent an email a month ago and nothing. And now I can't return it. It's going to be a Christmas gift that will just sit there and make noise. And our family are Samsung users. So no i can't just switch to an iPhone for an app. So frustrating.
I bought this for my four year old and tried to set it up. With no support for Android 10 it's a pretty fancy paper weight. I have no phones that are old enough to function with this.
Love my Spidey at first, but with my phone updated, the app doesn't communicate with Spider-Man & I've reset the Spider-Man manually & it still hasn't worked. It's really sad, because the Spider-Man just sits there collecting dust.
I got this thing last christmas since my parents think Google home is the next Satan. ... It worked fine with my iPad pro. But, then when I got a Samsung Galaxy S10e for christmas 2019 I tried to pair it with Spiderman and it didn't work... Repeat this cycle for an hour or so and it still did not work. I'm not sure if sphero just decided to ditch this product cause it wasn't making enough dollary - doos', or whatever. All I know is right now it won't work with newer devices. Rip
Where are the content update that yall xlaim to release? wish it could be used to also play music or even like a siri, or Alexa, or google home. even the ability to have content updates (which is advertised to happen while you own the toy) like story's, games, jokes. just seems to have become another outrageously overpriced dust collector.
WE MUST ALL DM SPHERO TO TELL THEM TO UPDATE THIS AWESOME APP to be compatible with new Samsung updates!! If you see these Spider-Man toys super discounted DO NOT BUY ONE. It literally doesn't work at all I just tried it. It was such an amazing toy with lots of customization. I really hope they update it.
My spiderman does not connect with the app and i used all the methods mentuoned in the troubleshooting section but it doesn't seem to work. It worked earlier though. But now it says that the app was designed to an older version of android. My phone is an android phone. Please help me
Bought this interactive Spider-Man for my daughter (hard to get hold of so it wasn't cheap) only to find that it is no longer supported by Sphero! Like all the other Sphero products it's must have a very short lifecycle due to poor software support. Traditional toys beat tech toys because the tech toys require support from the company creates them and Sphero don't care once they have your cash.
Got spiderman as a gift. App will not connect to toy and when I downloaded the app it said it was for an older version. Read alot of reviews most people comments where the same problem..not connecting. Deeply disappointed had great expectations only to be disappointed
Horrible I have a crying 6 year old because I can't get the spider man toconnect with the app. $200 dollars!!! Im sending it back for a full refund!! Highly pissed off. There is no option for 0 stars so i guess 1 will have to do.🤬
Update: 4/7/2020 Sphero Support fixed the issue and the app is now working again. All of our previous data is even saved. Thanks for the awesome support! Original Review: 4/4/2020 The app no longer works, as it keeps asking to check wifi settings. I have conducted all of the troubleshooting steps and even reset the Spiderman. Now he is just collecting dust and my son can no longer play with him.
