The amp itself and the functionality in it that the app enables are Amazing. Five stars. The app itself freezes, crashes, and loses connection to the amp constantly. Not sure if it's a problem with my particular amp (I doubt that a lot), or my phone (I'm using a pixel 3 with literally no issues with any other app), but it really seems like this application - an essential requirement to get more than $45 worth of value out of a much more expensive device - is a buggy, crash-prone 0 star mess.
The android app is completely unusable. It will not connect to the amp, and I have double checked that the samsung I use should support the connection, all cables, including the OTG, are in good condition and functioning, but still no success. And Line 6's customer service/ support has been ZERO help in resolving the issue. And after connecting with fellow musicians, it seems to be a common problem for anyone trying to use the android app.
With the advertised capabilities of the V60 amp coupled with this app, it was a major selling point for me. Then I find out that you then need to buy non standard cables and adaptors to hook up to Android devices. I finally get it all hooked up and my phone refuses to connect. Tried two more Android phones which failed also. Finally found a phone that could communicate with the amp but it was a borrowed (and fairly old) device. This to me is false advertising. Poor form Line6. Fix this.
The Amp is good, but the app like the website is pretty much useless. Don't expect to find anything in there, it is almost impossible. The search function gives you just about anything, unsorted. Management should look at other apps. And inspire themselves from them. Which ones? Anyone, any other app is better than this one, same for thr Line6 Website, probably came from the same confused mind (yes, you).
The app makes it easy to find and customize guitar tones for your Line 6 amp. It gives a better indication of what is going on than the amp's limited digital screen can. You need a USB 2.0 Type B to connect from the amp to the USB type of your phone (my Samsung S9 uses Type C). The app's interface is a bit dated and uses old design conventions, but it still gets the job done. Would love to see this with a fresh updated UI.
Great amp but the app disconnects at random. When i say random, i mean exactly that. Sometimes it will drop out multiple times in a 5 minute span. Absolutely annoying when your editing tones. Besides that the sounds are great. When the app does work, the editing is real easy to navigate. Please please fix the disconnect issue. Its every owners main complaint.
Works great w the amp and makes changing effects and editing them a lot quicker. However as far as downloading or finding tones it doesn't work at all. No matter what you search it will not find it. Puts up an error code each time... you can not update your amp to the newer version w the classic speaker and extra tones either. Cant even download that from there site. For these reasons I've dropped my 5 initial stars to 3 and edited my review.........
Completely incompatible with my device and extremely difficult to use. The PC version of this software does not have access to the tone cloud, making the use of custom tones an 87 step process. Line 6 couldn't have made it more difficult. On the bright side, at least I'm learning.
Trash app! don't waste your money on line 6. who build a amp that Realize on a app that crashes, and then errors out so you can no long use the online feature. Had it for 3 months. Then one day won't let me log in on any phone in my house !! So much time wasted on finding and building tones only to lose it all.
Appalling app and hardware connection arrangement for hooking up app with a tablet and or a pc. Have not been able to do either yet. Be careful if you sign up because if you forget your user name you'll never be able to change your password or set up a new account with your existing email. Worse still you won't be able put your amp tones on a new phone without being signed in.
I think the idea is really cool and it's almost there, but it keeps crashing on my phone and is making this product very frustrating to deal with. There are slots where you can download songs to so I would suggest if you plan on gigging with it download the songs before hand if you did not already plan to
I've had most of the issues people are having here & the amp and app are fussy, but hopefully I can help. When you connect your phone, be sure that the adapter end goes into your phone and not the amp. Also, I plug phone in first then turn on the amp. If you're having issues still, log out, then log back into your line 6 account. Hopefully this helps, I've even had to take pliers to tighten up usb port on the amp. The app DESPERATELY needs update, but as with most updates, might make it worse
Managed to connect once and download updated firmware and 1 tone from the cloud ..since then just continuously disconnecting... As others have previously said makes the app and the ability to tap into a wealth of tones and editing features a complete waste of time ...especially for people who bought the amp for these features like myself. About time they got this issue fixed .
It doesn't work, hasn't been updated in a year. How is Line 6 getting away with selling amps that depend on this app, but not actually bothering to keep the app up to date? I definitely feel like I've bought a lemon and I am considering returning it for something that works. Which is a shame because I like the actual amp (Spider V 20 MkII), I just can't use it's features as intended. Poor show Line 6.
Not totally trash. Need some improvement. For one keeps cutting off. And it could've just come a regular usb hook up. Also keeps cutting off. Should make it to we can update or upgrade the effects
Version 2.0.X of the app works on the Pixel 3, connected to the Spyder v30 Mk II. ### SUMMARY - Can create and save custom tones via the app. - Can modify and save existing tones via the app. - Modifying and creating tones on small screen a phone can be tedious. - Cannot download and install shared tones from other users via the app. Would add a star if I could download and install tones from the cloud. Would add a star if the interface weren't so crowded on a phone screen.
I have been able to connect only once and for only about 60 seconds. It seems like it would be a great tool to use with the line 6 spider amps, I just wish it would work. I dont know what is happening but i cant even look at any new tones. It just keep on saying error.
No longer connects to internet (for at least the last week). Tried clearing cache, and also reinstalling - no joy. The app is now largely unusable - cannot access My Tones, Cloud Tones. Was mostly happy with the app until this happened.
I decided to give this a 2d chance. Got it working good took about 45 min to get a semi decent tone, was still working on the tone and it crashed. Just froze, I waited hoping to b able 2 tweak my tones and nothing, had to close down the program, after that ur phone will start acting strange and you have to restart. I'll try it on my tablet next, then laptop. Over all its ok. Oh yeah I forgot why I'm using it on my phone, when I downloaded to the laptop the new version opens then closes down
Probably one more star than it deserves, considering it stopped working on me yesterday. One would think a company whose entire business model is building amps that have processing computers built into then would have a competent IT department, but I guess not.
When it works correctly its great. It'll randomly stop making the changes in real time while your adjusting settings. Or it will completely just lock up and you'll have to exit. Having access to others custom tones is great. Please fix this app so it can work as intended without glitches.
Couldn't connect to amp. I tried several different OTG cables with my Google Pixel 3 running Android 12 and was not able to find one that would connect. Support was not able to figure it out either. Kind of useless then. UPDATE: I figured out that I needed to use the USB C to A adapter that came with my Google Pixel phone (plugged into my phone), then use an A-male to micro B cable, and NOT an adapter on the amp side. Then it worked perfectly. Line6 support did not know this. I changed my rating to 5 stars because now it works as expected and, while not the most intuitive app, I have no trouble with it.
