Overall great app, great product, but... Have to take away 2 stars due to frustration and difficulty transferring files from spire to computer. It's not easy to do, many steps and very poor workflow. The device and program would be considerably more user friendly if a better file. Organizer was available. Batch file transfer, as opposed to one file at a time. It really does take forever. Batch delete, file preview option, etc..
During the initial setup, every time it prompts for pairing an account and I press the Google link, the app crashes and restarts to the point of resyncing my phone with my Spire. It's an endless cycle. I've restarted everything, re-downloaded the app, no bueno. My phone reported over 10 crashes from the app in a few minutes. The app is currently 100% unusable for me, please fix so I can fully use your product, thanks!
Not very user friendly, lots of bugs and limitations. The latest updates completely removed some of the features and introduced some fresh new bugs. Its the only option with their hardware, which is pretty decent. Some great tones and features available, but too much of a headache to be worth iealing with this app.
It's better than an analog 8-track. I don't have an iPhone, so I only get to use the stripped down version. Maybe consider having the same functionality across operating systems? Update: If you don't have an iPhone, you will be unable to take full advantage of the Spire Studio. People keep asking for more robust Android support and have received the same answer for what appears to be years: not now. Don't bother. And don't buy the hardware!
If I knew that the software would degrade as badly as it has, I would not have purchased a Spire. Two main problems: Removal of the share via link. This was the most useful feature to share, and now any use is burdened by endless crashing and upload/download times. Difficulty connecting. An easy intuitive system now is a frustrating experience always. iZotope, please stop updating. Each one is worse than the last. Offer the same experience to Android users that you do to your apple users.
Great! Yet, bug needs to be fixed, from when you connect to the wifi of the Spire Unit (it's own), then the app tells you to UPDATE (But now your Android device it connect to the Spire WIFI and Not the Internet. I had to find a loophole to get it to work (by shutting down the Phone's wifi, right as I pressed UPDATE... so that my mobile Network was active again and not wifi. That worked for me. Otherwise, I was in a perpetual Loop of the connection Failing. Thanks
I have given up on Spire - slowly declining update after update. What once was a handy software and device has become a massive headache. I am lucky to be able to connect 1-20 times. I have hard/soft reset, checked my internet and troubleshoot everyway possible that the customer service rep. suggested with no prevail. If you don't have an iPhone they do not care about app presence, layout or features. BUT In the midst of all the negatives it is the best looking paperweight I've ever owned.
Pros: - I had this app for almost two years with no issues - It has great mic quality on a few different mixer settings Cons: - A few months ago the app started crashing every 2 minutes and sometimes wouldn't even connect (I am not exaggerating) - My friend has an iPhone and his Spire app works fine. Why won't it work on android? - I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app to fix it, but I can no longer install Spire Studio (fun while it lasted I guess) - Come on, fix your app!
I recently bought me a Izotope Spire...and I think its awesome! The possibilities are great...but I have a Galaxy S7 Active...it sometimes cant find it the Spire...then other times I connects but there isnt any sound in the head phone jacks...And my head phones are ligit... they work...every once in a while.. it will actually work...charging issues, songs say their too large to send, cant copy or paste, and freezing up when trying to share...I'd give a 5 if it worked right.
Usability is great, hence the one star. Problem number one is that you can't use the app without granting access to your GPS-location. What's that about? Problem two lies in the terms of service: "[You] grant to iZotope a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, unrestricted, irrevocable and worldwide license to use, copy, reproduce, remix, edit, record and adapt portions of any Creative Content made available by you [..]" I mean, no thanks.
Made a good app a complete pain. Having to create a spire account for one, but in recent weeks the app takes a very long time to connect to the device, where previously it was very straightforward. Seems to be software changes.
Original: 12/30/19 Literally unusable. Every time I open the app, it tells me I need to disable smart switching and won't go past that page even though that setting is disabled. I've tried toggling the option on and off, and it never works. Google Pixel 3a, Android Version 10 Edit: 1/3/20 iZotope support gave me a workaround--by holding down the wifi icon on the page I was stuck on, I was able to skip that step. Everything is working perfectly now. Thank you!
