This game is mind-bogglingly phenomenal. Take some time to pay attention to how things work and you should be able to pick it up inside ten minutes. The music/sound blend seamlessly together, and this game's aesthetic is beyond anything else I've played on a touchscreen, ever. If I could rate this game six stars, I would.
Beautiful interface. Soothing music. In today's world of fast paced and simple games, Splice is an irony. One cannot understand this game unless they play it and more than that every has a different which adds in the challenge of first understanding the level and then conquering. This removes the monotony of levels to great extent.
I rarely ever leave a review for an app, mostly because it isn't worth the time for most games. This app is an exception. It gives you the bare bones of what you need to know, and then let's you be. It doesn't bother you with an in depth tutorial that you don't need, and it also doesn't give you too much to figure out. Where most puzzle games get boring quickly, this one holds your interest and keeps you curious, while not being too challenging at any one point. All the puzzles are solvable.
I've tried to work out the point of this game but just can't. The mechanics make no sense to me. I've tried reading the very limited instructions and then experimenting to try and get the objects to react predictably but it just seems random. Obviously other people are having luck with it but not me. The timeline rewind doesn't make sense; the splicing appears to just be a matter of random click-drag trial-and-error as to whether anything will happen and/or what will happen. Disappointing.
The puzzles in this games are pretty challenging but not impossible to figure out. This game looks graphically amazing and the soundtrack gives it a calm and soothing setting. Although it can seem lackluster in terms of additional features. It's a solid addition to any puzzle enthusiastic.
Trust the reviews. Unique puzzle solver, kind of makes you feel like a mad scientist, lol. (Was just playing Ndemics Plague Inc.) Puzzles progress in a way that explains the game as you go. Will be telling friends about this one. Hanging on to that fifth star until I'm done. ;) Will try your other games too. Nice job developers. Very well done indeed. :) ATTN GALAXY NOTE USERS; Spen may not work, but an aftermarket cap stylus works fine. :)
I admit, I was a little apprehensive with all the one-star reviews; but as long as you're not a dummy, you'll have a blast. "Ahbloo-bloo-bloo this game doesnt let me fling birds at pigs and i cant figure out the title screen and i cant figure out pattrens so the game is radnom to me ONE STAR." Alright, two things... 1.) Don't announce your general ineptitude to the world on the global forum of Google Play, and 2.) don't take out your personal shortcomings on the developer. One-stars are for buggy, unsupported trash apps, which after playing this for an hour, it is definitely not.
REVISED REVIEW: I gave Splice 5 stars several months ago, and I'm still giving it 5 stars today. What a shame that people here are giving such a brilliant and relaxing puzzler poor reviews simply because it's beyond their mental grasp. The game mechanics are quite straightforward when it comes down to it...some folks are just so accustomed to being spoon-fed step-by-step instructions that the part of their brain used for figuring things out on their own has shriveled up and died I guess.
An amazing game, beautiful soundtrack, but I would have paid triple for twice the levels. You can easily get through it (without trying for an Angelic on each level) in 4-5 hours.
Pros:A minimalist user interface, easy learning curve, beautiful design and a great atmosphere. Cons: The tutorial isn't that clear, the help is not completely clear either, on a 4.5" phone the user interface texts are to small, the graphics are a little bit on the slow side on a1ghz Qualcomm single core cpu w/ Adreno 205 (maybe a setting to adjust texture size and texture filtering, bilinear/trilinear and an option to disable completely the music/sound options?). Conclusion: Great game, needs tweaking.
Bad on mobile. Don't buy unless you have a tablet. Can't see what you're doing because your finger is in the way.
It took me forever to figure out how the game worked (the tutorial/instructions were kind of vague) but once I got the basic understanding it was all good. This is a wonderful puzzle game! Very charming & unique.
This game is great. It's funny that some people are actually giving it a bad review saying it is too hard. If you have an ounce of brain power it's pretty easy to figure out the mechanics. If you like puzzle games this is definitely the game for you.
An amazing puzzle game with great visual aesthetic and sound to match. Touch controls were a bit finicky from time to time but no other complaints.
The first 3/4 of the game feels like practice for the really challenging stuff. Great concept, i'm a big fan of the game's mechanics. Would like to see more of the more difficult puzzles is all...
Music and atmosphere fits perfectly. Would buy again.
It is one of the few games that kept me interested for a good long time. A particularly satisfying treat is to figure out those 'angelic' solutions. I saved some puzzles for later!
At least, I'm not at the intellectual level of Hamish Fox, so I find this game challenging and stimulating. My eyes aren't as good as Fox's either, so I think the graphics are good. I couldn't see any need for a menu button either, but I was able to find the tutorial, so maybe my eyes aren't that bad.
I got the chance to demo this game at PAX this last year and was instantly taken with this intriguing puzzler. I told the dev that I chatted with that if it ever came out for Android that I'd buy it. Well, it has arrived, and I kept my promise. Keep up the great work!
Enjoyed the challenge but hoped it would get even more complex.
So puzzling, yet so satisfying when you complete each level
The simplicity of this game is what makes it so intriguing. Such a simple concept once you get the hang of it and yet gets more and more difficult the more you play. So far it is worth every penny.
The designers' work is outstanding, only to be surpassed by the excellent ambient soundtracks that follow each level. The increasing puzzle difficulty reaches a level that proper mindsqueeze is necessary.
Splice is amazing. It's immersive and the puzzles presented are intriguing. I've played on and off for six hours today and I haven't gotten sick of or frustrated by it!
Very good puzzle game. It's a pity that it only lasted for 2 hours. I would not buy it on its original price, since it does not have enough levels.
Love this well designed puzzle game. Movement is fluid, looks great. Runs as well on my Tegra 3 powered tablet as on my Note II.
Cool idea and challenging. One thing them at bothered me is the colors in sequence three are too bright I can't see the puzzle I'm supposed to splice.
Game mechanics are not obvious at first, some introductory text would be very welcome. Once you get a grasp on how to splice cells, the puzzles become fairly straightforward, and given how there are not that many types of strands you can assemble, also a little repetitive. Prior to purchasing, I half-expected the strands to be engaged into some kind of battle for survival, but this game lacks that element.
