Splits - Shot Timer

Splits is a shot timer. In fact, Splits is more than just a shot timer. Splits records the time of your first shot, shot to shot split times, mag changes, elapsed times and even includes a simple means to record accuracy.
Splits is now easier to use. The shot recognition procedure has been improved. There is less need to adjust your phone’s recording capability. But, when there is a need to adjust, due to environmental conditions, adjusting Splits is even easier now.

Splits is Android 6.0 compliant. After installing the app, Splits will ask permission to save the metrics files to your local storage. Splits will also ask permission to use the audio recorder.

Splits is almost as good as the dedicated shot timers costing $100 or more. And, Splits is free! You can spend the money on ammo or other accessories instead.

Splits records your shot sequences on your device’s storage so you can see your improvements. Splits provides an expandable list of Stages and Drills so you can categorize your shot strings.

Splits 2.15 introduces charting to visual display your progress for each drill.

Splits includes the capability to adjust your phones sensitivity for the shot string just fired. You won’t lose a string of fire because the sensitivity was too high or too low. That is correct. You will not waste a shot string to adjust the phone’s sensitivity.

If you are shooting by yourself, splits includes a timer delay so you can “Make Ready”. The timer delay can be set to zero so the beep sounds at the press of the start button.

The metrics that Splits retains by Drill include: Total reps of the drill, total shots in the drill, average shots per drill, average elapsed seconds per drill, average first shot, average mag change, average split time between shots (excludes first shot and mag changes), average shot or split time, accuracy and the ratio of hits to misses. The metrics can be filtered by date range and the details of each rep can be displayed.

There is more to Splits than that described above. Splits is free to download and use. For a small fee, you can upgrade splits and remove the advertisements.

The Splits screen layout and coloring works well in the sunlight at outdoor ranges.

Very good for a free App. The very good feature is the delayed beep. I appreciate this feature a lot because I train on my own. I use it every time I train. I gave if 5 stars because it is head & shoulders above the rest, I hope the developers keep on enhancing it. 😀😀

LG G7 with Android 10. Although I can't say I am an expert with lots of different Shot Timers, I can say that this app has every feature I need, well thought out, intuitive to use, and very adjustable. The video instruction is a bonus, and the help file is extensive. I tried out the base version at the range during a one hour shooting session and bought the pro version on the spot. I mean, $3.49 compared to a $150 dedicated shot timer? No brainer.

Excellent app! One of the best I've used! For those having trouble getting started, WATCH THE VIDEO in the play store. I nearly gave up initially thinking it wasn't able to be used on my phone until I realized you had to hit start and then also hit stop before you will see any time data or have access to microphone adjustments (shots don't appear in real time). Once I figured the initial portion out, I immediately paid for the app. Well done developer 👍.

First off, great app. The smoothing and sensitivity features are useful and intuitive after some practice. Something that does not detract from overall performance but would improve quality of life is for splits to be shown immediately after the shot is taken, as opposed to after the sequence finishes or you press stop. Maybe show the noise graph being plotted with the noise threshold line.

If you don't want to drop $120 on a dedicated shot timer that does things of which your cell phone is entirely capable, here is Splits. A powerful data collector once you get the hang of the interface, and great graphical representations as well. Thanks so much for bringing this app to life!

Amazing app with Amazing features.... Times your shots, splits between shots, total time of drill. Makes it easy to set up multiple drills and save your drills stats individually to enable you to see your improvement. Quality setting to lower the decibel levels to allow for dry-fire practice as well. Allows for echo adjustment for indoor ranges to minimize false reading.. Did not test myself. Overall very good and free shot timer.

this is a very handy tool. i use it to analyze steel challenge practice. the default of all misses is annoying i wish it recorded hits then adjust for misses. also i wish you could select for mag changes option in setup. if you do a mag change in steel challenge, you've lost. these are minor, overall i do recommend this app to friends.

This is the best shot timer for a phone I have used and I have tried many. It does what the dev says and I've had no issues. (Android 11). Saving the results is a great feature. It asks for no unnecessary permissions. For many people it may be the only shot timer they need.. learn to use it and save some money.

I needed a shot timer but couldn't afford $100+ for one. I installed this app and it does everything I needed it to do. My friends and I use it weekly at our informal matches. You really can't go wrong with Splits. I just need to figure out how to get it to automatically display elapsed time after the last shot.

Love this app. Never used a shot timer before but this is just as good as a lot of the paid ones I researched. It also helps with practice shots and shots against multiple targets. I use connected earbuds under the ear muffs so I can filter out background noises. I've been recommending this app to other shooters at the range as well as family members.

This app worked great on my older moto g 5splus, but only new moto g power, it doesn't work at all. There's something not right with how the mic works...when a shot is fired, the mic seems to saturate, and won't pass any audio for several seconds. The graphical representation of the audio shows one big long several seconds pulse. In that duration, the other shots are missed. Let me know if I can help debug this with you.

Just in from the backyard range and trying this app. In a word, useless. Worked a total of 3 shot strings (10 rounds 22LR x2, 5 round string of 9mm x1). 400 rounds total used (300 22LR, 100 9mm in 10 and 5 shot groups respectively). Tried multiple adjustments to app and phone settings to no avail. Competitive or aspiring comp shooter-I wouldn't rely on the app even for training; a backyard plinker who may be curious about their times-what the hay, it's a free app ( though i wouldn't expect much)

Works great. One change i would love to see is an option to automatically save each string for drills. So that each time i stop the timer it saves the string without me having to manually save. Should probably make it a selectable option. Some may not want the app to do that.

Just downloaded it on the recommendation of a stranger online. I liked it well enough after 5 minutes of clapping my hands that I bought the ad-free version. It lost one star because I was expecting to see some basic drills preloaded, and another because I haven't had time to try it on the range yet. It will probably earn at least one star back, maybe both. I will update it when I know more.

Very cool app, works well if you take the time to tinker with the settings (watch the youtube video). So far i used this with a replica co2 powered bb pistol it works great just put your phone up high near where your muzzle will be while firing like on a shelf. The ads are not bad either i got one per every 5-10 reps, i bought the full version because i like it so much.

Great app. Use it all the time!! Is there any way to have a begin buzzer and an end buzzer. So I can set a time of 1.50 and the buzzer beep on them both? Never the less, a great app that works great!!

I finally made it work, n its the BEST! It took me a minute to understand the adjustment settings. But once you get it, perfect. This app does exactly what i want it to do, mainly dry fire drills, n draw time. Thanks!

Edited review: I had issues with the app that were fixed through contact with the creator and troubleshooting. app is back to being the best shot timer app I've ever seen (only one that actually works) if you run into problems don't hesitate to contact CSL1911A1, better support for this free app than most premium services give you!

Could not get it dialed in shooting steel targets. Multiple shots always recorded; even if one shot was fired and missed the steel. Played with the settings a bunch but didnt seem to make a difference.
