When this was first released, I was pleasantly surprised to find it worked pretty well, and led me to some new music here and there. Unfortunately, after a while it became just individual playlists. All the complaints about the song order being static and starting over all the time are accurate. Not sure why they ruined it, it used to be my main Spotify usage. Oh well. Guess Pandora still exists at least, and hopefully doesn't hit you with the same ~3 ads every break.

Almost a perfect app and real Pandora contender. However it gets 2 stars from me because you can't see your song history. If you have music playing in the background and you're doing something else, if you don't rush over and look at the song before it ends you don't get to know what it's called. This is really bad for discovering new music which is exactly what I installed the app for. I will absolutely give this 5 stars if we get song history.

Huge problem, when pausing the station playing and then returning to it and pressing play the app always advises me that it is now offline and I have to force close the app and restart which also restarts the station's playlist back to the beginning, back to songs I've already listened to. This happens everytime I pause Stations for longer than a few minutes. Was like this on my Android 9.0 device, and now on my Android 12.0 device. Looks like Spotify has abandoned this app which is a shame.

Sad to say I'm going back to Pandora after a decade of not using it. I switched to Spotify when it had a legit radio feature and kept using it when Stations was released. But with the changes to the Spotify Radio feature (read: set playlist) and how Stations (also read: set playlist) has been left for dead, it's hard to keep trying to use such a frustrating app. With Stations being 90% of my Spotify usage, it's a pity.

Frequently unstable, pauses playback for no reason. Sometimes unable to load any stations. Or unable to sign in on a new device. Always starts playing Favorites upon start, and there's no way to get rid or disable this station I never asked in the first place. Extremely poor implementation, shame on you, Spotify. Looks like the app is just unmaintained, judging on how unstable it is.

It's not bad, it's just not worth keeping. Pros: Easy transition between different radio stations. A need for people who want to organize their stations or want it seperate from the og app. Already has some artists you listen to. Cons: You can only choose artists and not songs related to a station you want. It favorites the song, but you have to add it to your playlist from the og app which causes it to jump. The radio stations you already have aren't synced to the app.

Don't know why this needed to be seperated out of the Spotify app. Could have made a great add on. Also, it literally just stops playing music randomly, the only thing it's designed to do. Plus, on the Android version, stations are limited to 10 bands while IOS users seem to have as many bands as they way. It's an interesting concept just very buggy and broken and needs to be heavily updated to make it worthwhile, even with being free.

Overall, this is a great app. It's a little inconvenient to use a second app for the stations, but I dont mind too much. I have 2 problems with it. Lately, if I do not have the app active and open (meaning my phone cant even have the screen off) the music will stop after a minute or so. My second problem is that I wish there was the option to scale up variety, I hear the same songs every time I start a station, even after an hour or two

I really wanted to like this app but it's too buggy. The whole concept of having all your stations in one is a game changer for people who listen to music 24/7. Two main issues, one it won't stay connected/playing. It'll just randomly stop. Second it's not continuously making suggestions, it just gathers 20 songs or so and plays them on repeat, not cool bro. If you get it together this could be a favorite app. It just needs some more work.

Not Horrible. Let me explain. You cannot add songs that are currently playing in Stations to a specific playlist in your Spotify library. So I ran both apps so I could add them that way. You can "like" it in Stations and it will be added to your Spotify. It is really buggy right now as in it will randomly stop playing music on its own. There is a limit to how many artists you can select when creating a station. That is all I can find for now. I am sure it will get better with time.

I really like this app. I like the ease of use and how simple it is. Perfect for driving. I have had a few problems though. Whenever I lock my phone it'll play through about half a song and stop playback. I then have to open the app and press play for it to continue. This isn't an issue for my regular spotify and is very annoying. Also whenever I am done listening and I clear out my apps, the playback bar wont clear from my notifications so it's stuck there even if I open and close the app again

Interesting concept, needs work though. Sometimes when I turn on a station, it will play about ten different songs, then it will loop back through those songs. The UI could also be greatly improved, most things are too small, and being able to actually see the album cover for songs would be nice. Other than that, it's a great app for getting more variety in your music listening.

The user interface is pleasant to look at and easy to use, and the fact that Spotify is highlighting music discovery in this app is 🙌. While it's not Pandora-level, it could be someday. It's the bugs that hamper the experience right now. For example, the app will randomly stop playing because the main Spotify app opens and tries to stream music concurrently. I hope to see this improve in the future.

Jus. C. Jun 15, 2019

Nope, nope, nope. It's a nice interface which will hopefully influence other services but for years, Spotify has never managed to attract me. I really wanted to love this app, the quick station switching is great for an Uber driver. The music veers off course almost immediately, not even close to the band or genre I selected. Add to the fact the ads and commercials are almost nonstop. More ads than music. Long ads. Multiple ads. Annoying ads. All I hear are ads. I'll stick with Google Music.

Stations still needs work, but it's a solid Stations app from Spotify. My biggest issue with it is the double notification I get for what's playing from this app and again from the normal Spotify app. It also doesn't play very nicely with Android Auto, which has led me to uninstall it several times. If those two things aren't issues to it, you'll probably like it, especially as an alternative to Pandora. I hope these bugs are fixed so I can make more use of the app.

One of my favorite things about Spotify has always been the ability to auto-play music based on a band and find other music in the same genre. That said, Stations is not an improvement of that functionality, and I'm mad that it's no longer available on the parent app. Stations is less user friendly, doesn't let you back up and replay songs or save them to playlists, and in general has downgraded the entire Spotify experience to it's absolute basics. Overall, very disappointing.

If it wasn't for this app I likely would have given up on Spotify all together. The original app is absolutely hot trash and nearly unusable. This app on the other hand is very simple, maybe a little to much, but it works nearly flawlessly. There's some minor features I wish it had, but other than that it's a great simple music app.

I have paid for the family plan because my kids love Spotify. But for the longest time, I have resisted using it myself as I find it too cluttered and messy. I have, instead, really enjoyed Pandora mostly for its simplicity. I see from many of the reviews that there are many like me who value a simpler user interface. Of course there is also a need for the more complicated full blown Spotify experience but not all of us need this. With the new Spotify Stations App, I might eventually switch my allegiance to Spotify Stations from Pandora. The things I like about Pandora should be implemented asap. We need larger album art, bigger thumbs up and down buttons and Android Auto integration. Since this app is designed to simplify our experience it would be nice to have voice control too. I would also like to be able to say "thumbs up" or "thumbs down", "skip" and "replay". If I can be greedy, I would like to see the year of the song displayed prominently. Bottom line is that this is a good start. I hope the Spotify engineers don't give up on this project.

I really like the concept and everything its shooting for, but it's still buggy and very underdeveloped. I think an ability to add to playlists from the stations app to spotify would be useful. Also, when include similar artists isnt selected for some stations, other artists will still play sometimes and that can be a little frustrating sometimes. I also dont really like how there is a limited amount of artists per station. Overall, I really like the app, but it could definitely use some work.

Once you've liked enough songs, the suggestions are phenomenal! And it gets better everytime you like new ones. Almost 90% of the time I'll hit the like button on the played songs. My only problem is that the volume is lower than the main Spotify app for some reason and I tried it with Bluetooth headphones and in car mode and its all the same. Other that that it's great!

I love this app. I downloaded it thinking it's probably just like Pandora or even the radio app built into Spotify but I can tell it's different. In 1 week of using, I had found 7 or 8 new artists that I love, a few new favorite songs, and I shared with my of my friends. I love that you can customize the types of music you want to hear based on similar artists that you can choose, or specific songs. I highly recommend trying.

Spotify is one of the best music services around. It a ability to allow the listener creat custom radio stations is second to none. There's is 1 drawback. When you enter the name of a specific artist and song. It doesn't play that song first. It plays similar sounding artists. I wish they would fix that. Other than that drawback. Spotify is a great service.

Mat. R. Jul 8, 2019

This should be integrated in to the standard Spotify app. The functionality is extremely limited. There is no way to view what songs will be played, no way to save a station to listen offline, no way to replay a song. It is the only way to currently listen to a station on Spotify. I don't know why they removed that functionality.

Mor. P. Jul 12, 2019

I've been a premium subscriber to Spotify for some time and I am absolutely loving stations! A few issues though: not being able to remove radio stations from the list. I am a blind Spotify member this means I use a screen reader and this action is not accessible for me. I see for example "Ed Sheeran REMOVE" but no way to remove it. Also some stations are not being added when I click on them. I hope these issues can be improved. Otherwise good so far.

I like the depth that comes with being a Spotify application, as well as to simplicity of this when I just want a random playlist of things as compared to Spotify proper. However I wouldn't really call the stations all that varied when you start playing them and you can't add nearly as many different "seed bands" from the outset as I would have preferred. However, I will admit that I am pretty persnickety when it comes to my music, so you may have a different experience.

What's the point of having a stations app when it only ever plays the same songs, in the same order, whenever you open the app? I want to use this app more, I love that it's basically on-the-spot made playlists, but I'll get several songs into a playlist, leave the app, and then come back to have it restart from the very beginning. The notification bar popup is still an issue, BTW, it does not go away and will sometimes start playing, draining battery.

Dav. M. Nov 21, 2021

There was clearly zero effort put into creating this. The "stations" are playlists that play the same songs *in the same order* every time. And when you create one based on artists there is a box to check to allow it to play music from similar artists, as well... This button seems to be there just for aesthetics. Even if you have Spotify premium like I do, Pandora is the better option for a radio-like experience. It also doesn't work well with Android Auto and has no landscape view.

Stations is to me the most desirable music app I know of. I like the favorites station the best. You can have a station for virtually and artist there is. The format is excellent, and there is a car mode so you have the artwork to go with the tracks. I once had Spotify Premium a long time ago, and I see the music is as good now as it was then. Definitely get this app, it will quickly become your primary music app!!

Lis. D. Sep 14, 2020

Pretty good app so far. I'm actually really enjoying this when I'm not sure what I specifically want to listen to. I noticed that when I deselect "Include similar artists" the station will still play other artists at first. It does end up working if I close the app and start it up again though. I would love the ability to sort the stations especially in alphabetical order. Maybe even the ability to toggle between that and recenly played. I hope this can be done one day.

Ric. R. Jun 21, 2019

Honestly, I love the idea behind stations, but having a separate app that feeds off the main app and requires you to get on the main app to scroll, go back a song, and add a song to your library gets annoying fast. I love the idea and have been enjoying the app, but I honestly think this should be a part of the main app instead of a completely new one.
