Spydus Mobile

It wants a password for logging in, but I don't have one (just have a card). There's no way of setting up your account on the app (i.e., sign up option) and you can't just scan your library card to log in even though it can scan books. Bit weird. Also, I assume you can't link your child's account either, but I can't be sure because I can't log in! Found my library ok though and looks like a decent app other than the password requirement.

Unfortunately, despite nice presentation, the UI on this app seems a significant step back compared to the Spydus website, often requiring more clicks or page loads than before for routine tasks: for example, to find information about a book, or to renew books on your account (each seems to need to be renewed individually). One marginal benefit is a Barcode scanner, so you can borrow library books without using library machines (provided you can connect to the internet).

The scrolling experience is rubbish and puts me off using the app every time I try. I'm often looking for inspiration so am scrolling long lists of titles. The scroll is too slow, can't keep up and I'm always selecting things I don't want to. It just needs to scroll like every other mobile app around and it'd be so much better and easier to use.

Good looking and easy to use. Finding problems with touch sensitivity, in that it has a tendency to select items rather than scroll down as you want it to. Quite annoying when using an otherwise useful app.

I can't log on to Spydus, neither the phone app on the on-line desk top version. My library told me to change my password ....Even if I change my password, it still doesn't work.... very frustrating. Tried one more time, with another new password. It worked this time! At last! A very klunky app.........

Every time i scan my card is finds "plain text" but then says scan failed. i notice that during the scan, the numbers become blurry and there is no way to make it clear. not sure is that's the problem or not, but the app is useless.

App installed ok, found library ok but from there the experience was NOT OK! The scrolling function in this app is appalling. Please update to a normal scroll function. Most users will thank you for it. I am curious about back end security for users data. Does the app store your name, address, email and telephone number? If so, how secure is this data? Would like to NOT have the phone (v11) flashlight turn on automatically when scanning. Or make it optional. Sure, dim light used to make Spydus not scan but so does the reflection of an intense light.

The website gives more options so I'm rather disappointed with this app. It's only use is to show borrowed and reserved books. Your history of books borrowed is incomplete and there does not appear to be an option to create a list of books that you may wish to borrow in the future. Probably better to visit the web site.

All this is is parts of the library system via an app rather than the website and it does nothing that the website doesn't do. In fact it does less, so it's not worth my efforts to use. And where is the ebook/audiobook integration? Why do I have to DL a different app for that? Which is not compatible with all my devices. No thanks.

Been telling me for the last few days that it has an issue 'connecting with server' so I can't search the library catalogue. But otherwise it's been working fine.

Thought you couldn't get worse than Libby. But with this hopeless app you can. No way to reset your password, no support and no way of finding anything. Goes to prove, new ideas aren't always the best

Appalling App connected first time very well. Now every time informs me there is a network problem!!! No network problem that I can find. Uninstalled and reinstalled twice still not working or connecting

Really struggling to understand how to navigate app. Just wanted to renew expiring membership. Will need to phone NCC. Very frustrating

The app falls over when searching. Local library tells me Spydus is a massive headache as despite not many libraries being open and online - it constantly crashes and runs s o s l o w l y. This is an appalling app and my heart goes out to all libraries locked-in to using it.

Should at least be able to scan your card to log in. Faffier than the website. When I take my boys in it will take a lot more time to log each one in and out of the app than to use the computers. Being so young it's a big deal to them to have their own cards and accounts.

Really good app can keep in touch with your saved lists of books to read. Also search for books to see if in library ahead of time.

Excellent! Used this app with Hampshire Library Service and functionality is excellent, especially for issuing items. Really easy to use. Would definitely recommend.

Keeps popping out the network error message each time while there is nothing wrong with the Internet. However it works well except the message.

Can't log in to multiple accounts. I have 2 children so between us we have 3 library accounts. I logged into one of my childrens accounts, now it won't let me log into my account or my other child's account. Pointless, it was supposed to be easier than the website.

I don't know why my library recommended this app if it's not on the list of libraries that support it. Uploaded and deleted straight away (well after several clicks of trying to find out what it does).

It was surprisingly hard to scroll in this app. Also, it tells me my login details are incorrect even though they work on the website.

Very good. Does the much the same as the website, but in an app, so it's easier to interact with.

History of Previous Loans appears in reverse date order based on date of issue and cannot be sorted. Who would find that useful? Requires ability to sort alphabetically on title and on author.

Account unable to extract info and failed to scan items. Don't waste time in sharing your details as it may be misused

Found experience very smooth. For future development I wonder if it could link to calendars to give warning about due dates?

Works fine. Logged in, renewed a book, reserved another very quickly.
