Squealock - Secure Messaging
Why Squealock is better:
Most secure messaging or anonymous chat apps require your phone number to validate your account when you register. Whatever the reasons are for requiring your phone number, it is likely being stored on a server somewhere and is vulnerable to hacks. In an article published by the Guardian in April 2016, a German security expert explained how your phone number is all a hacker needs to read your texts, listen to calls and track you. Even if you claim to have nothing to hide, you could be spammed, or tricked into installing malware on your phone by simply clicking on a file or downloading a picture sent to your mobile phone number. Such malware can be used for collecting data such as your account passwords (PayPal, Amazon, banking etc….), credit card numbers associated with your device, often resulting in a massive data breach. Our users are therefore less likely to become victims of such data breaches.
Besides protecting your digital footprint and preventing others from collecting your data, we also aim to protect your privacy. Today’s popular social networking apps and sites know everything about you. We believe that’s dangerous, especially when your personal information could end up in the wrong hands. Things you post on social media can cost you your job, as employers may still be able to access your history without your knowledge, even if you use strong privacy settings. Squealock destroys all traces of messages once read, to prevent sharing with unauthorized parties. Sending nude photos, commonly known as “sexting”, “sext texting”, or “sex text”, is more common with the use of mobile phones, but can be dangerous when done through regular text messaging because:
-Anyone who has your number can hack into your phone, and retrieve files saved on it.
-SMS is not so secure; meaning your messages are not protected while in transit, and could be exposed to prying eyes.
- You have no control over what people could do with messages or pictures you send them, and it sometimes leads to people becoming victims of revenge pornography, which consists of sharing someone’s nude pictures with one or more people without their consent. Such material could be used to blackmail people into doing things they would rather not do. While legislation was passed in certain countries to outlaw this practice, revenge porn can be hard to prosecute when the perpetrators are from the dark web and hard to trace. We therefore recommend that you never send a nude photo to anyone with your face in it, even as Squealock prevents screenshots on Android, and destroys messages once read.
Please note:
- We do not allow profile pictures, because they can reveal your identity. Without a profile picture, even if someone takes a picture of your messages with an external device, they still can’t prove you are the actual message sender, if their intent is to use your words against you. We recommend that you do not use your real name or email address as your Squealock user ID, or add any personal information to your profile, for additional security.
- We do not access your phone contacts like most secure messaging and other free chat apps do.
- In our anonymous chat app we only allow users to engage 1 on 1, based on interest, to prevent the chaos often associated with other anonymous group chat.

Great application! More security and privacy than the most popular messaging app. Larger files can be posted, images taken in the app are very clear, etc. Only thing is it's not possible to format the text in the message.
New bug introduced with last update. When sharing an item via signals, selecting from a list of recipients will sometimes change random names in the list to contacts that have not been confused. Unchecking your recipients will revert the names to the correct names for the chat...
Works great when replacing the default messaging app. Send signal to contacts who have it and send as sms to those who don't. You need to enable full notifications in the app settings but then it's great.
Set this as my default sms! I like that my data is secure, but I can still communicate with friends who haven't switched to Safi yet. The background customization feature is a nice added bonus. Would recommend 100%
Definitely the best on the current market. Anyone concerned about their privacy should turn to signals. Things are going, I'm pretty sure that signal could definitely be the next WhatsApp. More power to signal.
Everything is perfect about this app, it's just that the messages take a long time to send. Rest app is very user friendly plus it has very high security that's why I use it.
Great application. I am using it for months and never had a problem. Color is a great feature. Friends in warm colors and the rest in neutral or cool colors. Perfect!
For me, it's as good as WhatsApp, and I appreciate some extra security tools. I also appreciate being able to change the bubble color because I love that kind of customization. My only complaint is that not enough people I know use it (yet) so I hope this app grows
The usability and privacy features are excellent. No performance issues. Would highly recommend, I've given up on regular messaging apps for signals
This is a really great app. In addition to the peace of mind that comes with encrypting all contents and calls, being able to change the userID and selectively block people are very useful privacyoptions to have.
Apart from the user interface, it's all great. For those complaining there is no web interface. Having a web interface is a security risk. I like the fact that it doesn't have a web ui.
It's a safe, free app (with spelling correction option). The small aspects that other users point out, while valid, don't take away from the fact that it's a lovely app. Thank you Safi - Stealth Messenger team.
The layout is very nice. Simple. Easy to use and responsive. I wish more of my contacts were willing to continue using Safi. I don't like WhatsApp or Telegram.
Love the incredible amount of user data control. Updated after using spaces, solved a lot of issues users were using and continued to improve on reliability. The desktop client is also great and really shows the power of Safi - Stealth Messenger
Safi is easy to use and intuitive. I'm not happy when it notifies everyone in my contact list that I'm using signals. It is not an automatic process.
Great app, no problems so far. Would love if more features could be added, on par with other messaging apps in the store right now.

Left other messaging apps for Safi - Stealth Messenger and I don't look back. Safi - Stealth Messenger has a very easy to use user interface. Love the focus on privacy. Overall the app's great help is to get rid of Facebook completely
Signal is an excellent messenger. The app works just like WhatsApp, only with more privacy. Your data is secure and private. I like it. Do not collect my personal data.

This app is the best on the market right now when it comes to data security and privacy. As a 20 year cyber security veteran, I understand how much excellent design works have been put into this. Forget about whatsapp for I have found my new love in Safi the stealth messenger.

I'm new here and from first impressions, I like the app. The design & ui looks promising and gives me a feel for material design. Hope to see more changes in the future.
New to Safi - Stealth Messenger . Videos and pictures are sharp and clear. The same goes for voice messages. And no one eavesdropped on my conversation.
At least all the integration seems to be more honest. I couldn't expect more for something free to use. Still, I'd be happy to pay for something open source that does the same thing and is even more secure. Hope this kills Whatsapp. At least I tried.

Safi - Stealth Messenger is the only app I use for messaging. I like the privacy and security it provides. I have been using it for almost a year now.
Love the app and all the options. Want to see encryption on messages received in another messaging app. Even if it's just a message sent with an encrypted signal. Would also strongly suggest providing a "copy/look-alike" app hider that works with in the signal platform.
