Updating my original review because of the helpful responses from developers ers. Works well for the Squeezebox Duet and LMS. Takes some time to find all of the features, there are so many. Functionality of the Spotty interface is better than the old Squeeze Commander which was my favorite over the years. It would be great if the volume control replaced the link on the main player screen. For a free app with ZERO ADS, you really can't compIain. Well done, thank you all!

Nice app, however would you consider adding a 'clear playlist on exit' option, that would kill the stream after closing the app, it's very irritating that the stream continues after exiting the app. Another nice addition would be to unmute after a phone call ends rather than have to do it manually.

This application is very well designed and engineered. Over the years, I have changed my LMS setup rather a lot and Squeezer is the only app that has continued to work properly throughout. Thank you

Thank you for this fantastic app. It's a very good replacement for the good old Squeezebox app provided by Logitech. The latter was identical to the user interface of my SqueezeBox Touch, but Sqeezer comes very close and it's very intuitive as well. The only thing that I would love to see would be the option to browse by "Album Artist". Today there's only "Artist", which turns out to be a hassle as soon as guest artists appear on individual songs of an album and you want to select the whole album and add it to your playlist. Please add "Album Artist" for browsing my own music. I'll then consider adding another star to the review. ;-)

Was a great app but the latest version has made it a lot less useful if you use playlists. The button to go to the playlist has now been replaced by one to toggle the artwork - so a button I use all the time has been replaced by one which I'm only likely to use once. Ever. Now I have to dig down into the "now playing" page to find a button to access the playlist, which looks like an afterthoujght. And within the playlist I thought we had editing facilities before. Those have completely gone now. I want to roll back to the last release. Anyone got an APK?

Used to be a great app. It still is, but for some time now it refuses to stay connected (on an Android tablet). It's tiresome to have to reconnect every time you want to change music. And it often fails to reconnect first time. The connection (on same tablet) used to be absolutely robust. I've waited patiently for an update to fix this, but it's been many months now.

As far as hitting play/pause goes or picking a song or album from my library, this app is fine. But it does nothing to improve the underlying flawed media player that is squeezebox. Alarms randomly disappear and now even the alarm option is gone from the menu. Playlists are a joke as you can't directly add a song to a playlist. If you start a playlist what actually gets played is a temporary copy of the playlist that I would call "now playing", abd adding a song to the current playlist sends it to "now playing" instead of the original actual playlist which is obviously what anybody would want. But maybe the problems are with the squeezebox system and not the app, but the app does nothing to fix it's flaws.

This app is the absolute best. Never thought there would be an app for this since they were discontinued awhile back, much less one that still is being updated by the developers...you don't know how long I've been looking for a new Squeezebox Touch remote on ebay and other sites. Have both the Touch and Boom, works perfect. Great app! This just made my day!

Continuously dropping usability. I took one star off earlier for removing the playlist from the dropdown, and you need to click the title then click on the playlist option. when you have six players and two servers, trying to get to what you actually want to play has become a pain. Now the action button to the right of the title has been made miniscule and causes your entire playlist to be wiped out if you're off by a millimeter, playing the selection instead. There's no option to add it by default, so there's no proper way to create playlists anymore if you have fingers bigger than a child's, and a high resolution mobile phone with very tight pixel pitch. The devs obviously hate playlists and have no idea of a mixed environment setup. I'm going to try some other apps. This is ridiculous. The chase to get better cosmetics has come at the expense of usability. The older app versions were more clunky, but worked 10 times better.

Great app. Always reliable. Connects easily to all of your devices. Easy to set up. No adverts at all. I would love an album art option. To browse by large thumbnails of your album covers would make this free app perfect. Edit: Many thanks to the developers who responded to my review with advice on how to achieve the album art view I wanted. 6* App.

I am glad this app is around and lets me control my different players. After the upgrade I had a few issues about showing my players still in the list, even they have been powered down. Mostly I select my songs to play via New Music. Before I could tap the album cover and it started playing. Now I get the song list first in that particular album and I need to select play in the menu (thee dots) to start playing. I like that now playing my favorites (I keep my preferred radio stations there) is done by just simply tap the icon. Before I had to select play from the menu. Searching has changed unfortunately. Before I could enter anything, title, artist etc. and I got a list grouped by Album, Artist, Songs etc. at once. Now I am asked where to search, what to search. So it takes several taps until I get a refined search result. If not successful I have to repeat the procedure all over again. Maybe I just have not yet figured out how to minimize my taps to play and to search ...

Awesome app. I've been using it for years :). And open source too :D. I'm liking the v2 update. Although, only after finding the 'screen' setting for small icons/list view rather than huge icons! That took a while to find and nearly had me in a panic. It's not obvious which options control the app vs which control the server/player. Although what would be really awesome is a way to customise the menu screens. I would like the opening home page to have only the entries I use most (Album Artists, Random Mix, Search, Sleep At End Of Song) and a 'More' option at the end. Also, the lock screen transport control is missing the next button. I only get previous and pause until I unlock. Thank you kindly.

Clean looks thanks to the recent Material Design upgrade. Currently it's a bit of a faff to navigate to the artist or album from the 'Now Playing' screen. Instead of having to click on the 3 dots menu and scroll through the list of options, it'd be FAR easier to just be able to tap directly on the artist name or album title, like Orange Squeeze does. I'd also like to see support for Libre FM and ListenBrainz, not just Last FM. Why is the F-Droid version 7 years out of date?! It's a FOSS app!

Good app. However, I can't find a way to shuffle all songs by an artist. When I select 'artist' it shows me a list of albums that contain said artist and only shuffles one album at a time. Otherwise, it has been working fantastically, I can control playlists, volume and connection from my phone.

Fantastic app still works great! For those who are having issues losing connections I have a setting that may help. I started noticing the problem when Android 8 was released and it continues with 9. To fix go to your phone settings and find app settings and click on the Squeezer app. Go to Advanced, then Battery and turn off Battery optimization. That did the trick for me.

Recent updates make this once-great app less useful, less intuitive for me. I wish I could rewind 6 months. The way automatic updates work, I'm at the mercy of this developer. I understand (having been a developer myself) the urge to improve something. I can see there's been a lot of work put into version 2.x, but the recent visual changes make the app harder to use. I'm going to try to see if I can sideload an earlier version of the interface while keeping the new protocol implementation.

Ivy. S. May 9, 2020

Feels like a 10 year old interface. System doesnt respond to external play controls. Adding a favorite asks for confirmation & then backs you out 1 tier? Lot of old timeyness to the layout that's a shame, as it's nice to have access to my stuff thats not on spotify, but unfortunately it's a lot of work on the backend to get to a point where it would feel passably usable as a replacement. I'm glad someone makes this stuff though for sure.

Fantastic app, especially now that Logitech no longer supports the Squeezebox line. I use this with the SB Server, and 2 SB Duet setups and it works great. The latest update was excellent, and I am very happy that this is still actively supported and even getting new features. Great work Dev! Please support this app is you want to see it stay around.

Excellent app for the best music streamer ever. Easier to use than the Web interface. Never crashes.

Works perfectly, looks cool and is user friendly. Am using it for controlling two Squeezeboxes.

Great app. Easy to use and connects everytime on my rather flakey wifi. Has everything needed to use as a remote control for my O2 Joggler running squeezeplay. Only problem Ive had is in re-ordering a playlist on the fly - the app tries to do it but fails 8 times out of 10. But no big deal, its a great app to have - thankyou.

Nice, no frills app. Well done. All basic functions are nicely arranged. The main issue I have, is the quite choppy load of large thumbnails. The app then seems to reload the images everytime you scroll up or down. That's slow and gets annoying. Please introduce proper caching.

Kyl. G. Dec 3, 2020

Excellent app. Connected immediately to my squeezebox touch. The interface is very intuitive and very much like what is on the device itself. Stable and easy to use. A number of years back I used one of the other ones that I had to pay $10 for and this is superior

Reinstalled the Squeezer again. And seems to be running better than after the update in May, as it doesnt loose connection as often (yet) Still the previous version had the option to download a song directly onto the phone, so one could change the playlist frequently. When will this option be available again?
