The app is great. It does its job and it does it well. The biggest drawback is either a lack of content or a bug in some of the drop menus. So, for example, a wood elf, Circle of the Moon Druid simply doesn't exist in the menu trees during character creation. I can literally only see acolytes in the character backgrounds. It's this little things that keep me from saying the app is finished. It's good. But it's also unfinished.
Great tool, I use it as backup and as a lookup tool during our sessions. I still keep a paper character sheet since it's a bit easier for me to find some things, but love being able to use this. I haven't used it as a GM yet, but I've prepared a few things in anticipation of that and I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles everything. Loading new data can be a bit cumbersome until you find a system that works. I typically put large blocks of text into a note-taking application then copy/paste it using my phone into the interface.
The best character manager for 5e without a shadow of a doubt. The only noteable improvment I can think of is adding the ability to attach a picture to the characters. That said, the developer doesn't really update the app much anymore and has instead focused on anouther project, so while adding pictures is on the list of things to do, the list really isn't going down at all, which is rather disappointing since I need a whole other app now to connect characters from this app to pictures.
I like this app, but some character selection options and purchasable items aren't available. I hope you want to be an acolyte as your background, because that's your only option. There's several different things like that, but overall, it's a good app. I just think that since I paid for this, it should have all the options available.
It's good. Really useful quick refs and the GM tools are great for managing experience and combat. Would immediately rate higher if there was a notes screen in campaigns or a notes section for non-monster encounters, just a quick memory jog for me so I can have a rough plot outline in place for my players to inevitably break! same with npc notes for their relationship with the players- did they try to rob this guy last time they saw him? etc.
It's very flexible, but if you spend the money on the pro version, like I did, it should come with all the standard races, classes, features, feats, spells, backgrounds, and items. I spent money on this app thinking it would save me time. Instead, i have hours of copy/pasting ahead of me just to get to a standard level of content. Another gripe I have about this is when entering races/backgrounds and the like, the rules give you an option between certain choices. The oil nly way to do that in this app is to make it a feature. Thus is essentially a note, a reminder. Aside from my complaints, this app is still ok. Only ok. Not sure if paying money for this is appropriate considering all the extra work.
Best D&D character sheet system available. VERY worth getting the paid version. Handles homebrew content like an ABSOLUTE champ. I cannot stress enough how good this app is. I hope the devs keep adding features and sometimes the drive transfer feature is kind of disfunctional but it's something that can be easily overlooked.
This is a fantastic app, I love using it. One of the drawbacks though is there is a lot of content missing from playable races, subclasses and character backgrounds to name a few. It would be awesome if all of current dnd 5e content were added to squire. Doing it manually is painful.
amazing, just wish it had all backgrounds and subclasses (it only has one per class and I think just one background), but it gives the option to input them manually so at least there's that. hopefully it will have them in the future.
I'm LOVING this app! I use it every day and have created A LOT of characters with it! I'm addicted!! I do, however, hope that you'll be able to find the time to implement some more features soon. I would personally like to see the PDF download feature. I know you've mentioned that other, more important, priorities have come up in the past year, and I totally get it. Life happens. Therefore, have you considered bringing in an associate developer or two to help you out? No, I'm not volunteering simply because I lack that kind of knowledge/experience....but I'm sure there are numerous individuals out there who are more than qualified to help you out.
Great app - been using it for a year now and it's amazing. only drawback is no matter what I do the only background available is Acolyte - I have to create all the other standard backgrounds by hand. Some features also don't pop up - like rapid drinker - but I can add them by hand as I need them so it's not a huge deal.
Great app, all reviews below offer exactly why you should use this app. But the backgrounds have a big issue. Even with importing other resources, the drop down lists for personality, ideal, bond, and flaw don't work unless you add the information yourself.
Honestly one of my favorite tools for building characters. I cannot endorse this enough tbh. One suggestion I do have would be to try to integrate Avrae support for the character sheets. Right now, I build my characters here, and then transfer them to a Google sheet so I can use it in my Discord games, and I think the ability to link the sheet directly to Avrae would be incredible. Either way, this is a wonderful tool, and I'll be using it for years to come!
Good but limiting for epic level play: I find the features useful and easy to use, and theirs also alot of information to help those who arn't sure what dose what, the only real problem I have with this app is you can't go past level 20, I don't exspect them to put alot of work on epic plays but I would like to be able to not have to worry about my classes being restricted to a tottal level of 20 (we tend to go multi classing instead of have a normal class go past 20 but you can't do either)
I have the pro version but there is only one option in the background list (acolyte) and an "other" option and you can make up your own. do I have to put in the rest of the backgrounds myself? that is my only complaint other than that this is by far the best character app I've used so far.
I've been using this app for a long time now and this is by far the best app I've ever had for character creation and for quick access during a game. being able to manually put in additional information and then being able to permanently access it for future characters makes this truly incredible.
Been using this app (and the free version) for several months now. Its still by far my favorite app for Rpgs. Some things are a bit complicated to set up, but after messing around and getting more comfortable its a lot easier.
it's very much incomplete, can only choose from the same class options as the standard (free) version. as a fighter, I would love too see options aside from champions path. but honestly, dnd beyond has more options that squire at this point. save the few bucks and keep looking for other options
Nice lay out, good UI but only has standard things from the PHB available. Unless there's an option to import all the 5e supplement books I'm not aware of, this pales in comparison to other character managers available.
I use it over any other app. The purchased version is worth it. It looks clean and nice, very smooth texture to it. I love that you can add whatever you want and that more is always coming out for it.
Love the app, but one of the biggest reasons I wouldn's suggest it to people is the difficulties that come up when importing data. Perhaps the biggest problem with that is the fact that when you import new features, it doesnt automatically sort it. Either they default to being a feature, or they dont go into any subclass, making it impossible to choose features unless you know what you are looking for
