There is a horrible bug that makes the stations appear in the wrong place. You always have to zoom in all the way to know where a station really is If you zoom out the position of the stations is going to be completely wrong. As a developer that has worked with the Google maps API I know that it's not difficult to get this right and honestly makes you question if the programmer ever tested this code and what the people responsible for Quality Assurance where doing. This is unacceptable and absolutely amazing it has not been fixed moths after the App went into production.
Love the service and have used it since day 1. The app is useable and mostly gets the job done. A few updates that made the app less user-friendly: Unlocking code is harder to find. It was originally in the current rental home screen. The app now only works for Hamburg city - not even for the metropolitan region! Now you need two apps for Hamburg and Lüneburg, for example.
The app itself is okay but StadtRAD is poor. Bikes are not shown as available even if multiple bikes are parked. Annoying station concept. Really miss NextBike
Renting a bike doesn't work just as often as it does. If you need something reliable look for something else. The problems with this "service" are manifold: bikes are shown as available that aren't at the station in some cases or are then shown as defect when trying to open them after booking them in the app. Or you are prompted to call the hotline where, surprise, no one answers. Well, it's service as usual with the Deutsche Bahn.
Good app for renting bikes, have been using it for 4 years. With a map you can easily locate bikes, check availability, select the bike from a list or by number. You can review your current and past bookings including charged fees. First half hour is free of charge. There're sometimes issues in connections, ghost bikes which're shown in app but are not available at stations and once I couldn't return a bike. Called support at 10pm and we solved the issue. In the long run I can recommend the app
Have never seen such a terrible app. Worst user experience ever.
Overall great, but requires some polishing (sometimes it's hard to unlock bike from the first try). For those having problems with activation - provide your phone number during registration in international format with leading 00. Most problems with the app except activation were caused by bad Vodafone roaming.
The renting of the bikes usually go smoothly. But there is a problem with the contact form. For the inquiries necessitating sending an email, the form both on the app and on the webpage always says "the request was malformatted"
I signed up.. paid the bill now my contract is blocked and I can't use the app or the bikes!! The contact us page of the app and site does not work!! And when I call support they only speak German which I don't understand.. Once I was able to get through to an operator but she told me to wait and kept me on call for 15 minutes!! I did email. You don't answer emails either! Nov 11: I do have patience, I emailed on 2nd Nov and I still have not received any type of response! I don't know whom you've emailed but it's definitely not me
Disaster. Every time I use it there is a problem with bike return so I always count in a (at least one) phone call with customer service at the end of the ride. Even then it also happens that I do get charged and I have to call again and explain all over in order to get my money back.
This app is a good app taking all the aspects into account but what I don't like is the fact that the app uses the camera automatically even when I don't need it. And even when I already choose to enter the bike code manually the app still uses the cam in the background. Completely unnecessary and uses power of course.
New system with 3 actions to get a bike is a complete disaster. 1. Sometimes you cannot get a bike because of the server error. 2. Sometimes you cannot lock the bike. 3. System become overcomplicated. Sometimes it's saying bike is locked when it's not. Sometimes you think that bike was returned but it's not!
Worthless. The app fails at leaat 50 percent of the time you open it and you cant rent bikes. Been left stranded multiple times. Constantly "please try the app again in a few minutes."
Good: the bike-stuff, price. Bad: The language settings of the app and its very difficult to register. In general the IT-stuff
totally useless. registration process is totally outdated and takes forever and then app is not functioning! waste of time.
Haven't used this app in years. Then decided to grab a bike and it worked perfectly without any necessary upgrades.
Relatively easy to use but sometime the bikes are not where the app says they are. Otherwise a must have for people in Hamburg :)
During registration process website throws errors. I didn't get activation code in sms, resend activation button not provided. UX like in 90th years.
Get the card, the app fail to connect very often. it is very frustrating.
When you can find a bike that works. It is a good way to see Hamburg. Call centre take too long to answer if there us a problem. I tried to hire a bike and 30 were broken.
I can't register, after registering, I can not login. And I have the confirmation code and everything...
Useful and easy. But we need a few more stations in Lüneburg
Gebrally bike operations works fine. I didnt like 5 eur deufult top-up. I wont use most of this cash until next visit in Hamburg.
Bikes often at stations but classed as '0' or 'unavailable' in the app.
Service is great. App needs some slight refinements.

After a lot of updates on the user agreements, this system started to be as painful as it can get. You hire the bike but it doesn't unlock itself and you have to call hotline. You return the bike at the station and lock it but it still shows itself active in the application so you call hotline. Everyday it is getting worse.
