I've been looking for an app like this for a long time on the Android platform. There are some good apps like FL mobile, Caustic 3, & G-stomper. But, the wokflow, the GUI, the loop integration, time stretch algorithm is really flawless on this. I love the GUI. It's perfect and easy on the eyes. This is very important along with functionality. This app reminds me of Tracktion 3 and Cubase. I love this app and I spend hours on it and making music is so much fun on this. Note to developers: please don't ever change the GUI. I will continue to support you guys as long as this app survives through time.
This mobile DAW has one of the most intuitive, fluid workflows I have seen yet on Android. It has almost every feature you would come to expect from a traditional DAW, but where this one shines is how those features are accessed. Rather than having to switch screens or pull up menus, the interface has natural access buttons that pull up compartments that work in tandem with the rest of the workflow. This feels very natural and makes composing a breeze. Ableton/Cubase hybrid for Android!
Came to Stagelight as an Ableton user looking for something familiar on the go. Loving it so far. Only issue for me is the difficulty in editing/splicing audio. For example I have a loop from the goa pack that I love, but the timing is just so slightly off. I'm going to have to find an external audio editor to slice and dice it so it works. Overall though, definitely recommend.
Anytime I try to plug a external mic into my tablet the app crashes instantly unlike other apps, and the latency problem on both my tablet and chromebook is so bad. I was tempted to purchase the unlocked features until I realized i couldnt use this app at all. The idea is cool, but the outcome is not good. I'm looking to find a android replacement to garageband. Ive messed around with everything the play store has to offer, now including this and this is even worse.
I thought this music production app is very consistent. not a lot of lagging or distortion in the presets. but the one drawback is that there is really no sounds that actually sound like a real instrument. it all sounds too 80's synth and even there "guitar" samples dont even come close to other production apps. But if your looking to just make beats or edm this is your "ZONE".
Stagelight adds fire to and is a great addition in the "mobile music platform" I rated it 5 stars because it's just that great. It's free, but you can pay to unlock for Android and windows. It's not a bad price either. This people is one music app to keep. Easy to use and the creation possibilities are limitless.
Not quite sure what to think. Very nice app, but , I don't think it's the best for Android, great sounds and importing and other sounds seem to disappear. I will rate higher, when I find out why,but I'm not going to pay $15 for a app if I'm not quite sure how the app works, and the functions don't work well. IWould like I said very impressed with the program but it is not like reason, logic etc but for an Android itdoes make some pretty good sounds and I wish the tutorials were a little better.
It's pretty simple app. There are room for improvement such as user friendly controls as far as instruments. Also I need to be able to download it as a mp3 or wav to be used on my phone right away. More sound packs should cost less or have a better deal to purchase.
You can't do much of anything with this extremely limited app. Free?!! Yeah right! You have to buy absolutely everything if you want to give it a decent trial. I don't like the interface either. It's more complicated than it needs to be as well as being hard to navigate. The help tour is no use either as it gets stuck halfway through and you have no choice but to exit the bloody thing. Go back into it and it starts from the beginning only to get stuck at the same place as before.
I am new to music production but have found Stagelight easy to navigate and there are plenty of helpful tutorials available. It is also ideal for me as it is a cross platform DAW and I curently use a apple phone, android tablet and windows PC. The only negative I have encountered is the absence of plugin support on android.
I want to say that by far, I know there's other music programs out there, but honestly since I've started using stagelight, and I haven't been producing long ,it gave me the tools I needed to create sounds, make loops, even down to laying vocals....WORD..vocals.. and turn them into high pitched ablibs, it's like a complete studio on your mobile device without going to the studio,I can't think of any other way to create music on such a powerful platform on a hand held device, I love my mac thou..
Although it can be difficult to learn, Stagelight is fun and has a lot of beat/pack options. I keep coming back to it to play. It's the best Android version of Garage Band (my fave). But Stagelight might be replacing it.
the possibilities of making incredible music are endless. the app itself has user friendly and even someone who cant follow direction well will very much easily still be able to learn the various techniques and tricks of the music making trade. I love this app. so many choices for even the most novice music makers
Next Gen Music Creation platform! I recently purchased a Chromebook and wondered what DAW apps might work on my setup (HP Chromebook 14, Korg Pandora PX5D, Akai MPK Mini) and stumbled across this app. Quick download, plug in my audio interface and midi keyboard and everything just worked! Decent enough sound patches and instruments to make an exceptional sketch pad that could also work as a live instrument as well. Serendipity!
App cannot keep up with what I record and have looked through all the settings I think to see if there's a way to adjust with no luck. Definitely has potential.
So far so good. Still learning and I have a ways to go, but I'm hoping to make this an extension of my mpc. I'm more into boom bap style beat making, but it seems like this app will allow me to do that. Busting out record samples and chopping my drums the way I like. I'm tired of iOS users having all the fun. Thanks for bringing an app like this to Android.
Up until the most recent today January 7th the samples in the loop browser worked perfectly for previewing loops. however now after i add one sound the player in the loop browser doesnt play the selected files until you either force close the app or save the project 4 stars for now
this is one of the best music production apps out there. i have been producing electronic music for over 10 years and have owned or used most everthing. from ableton to reason and so on. do your self a favor and download this on all of your devises. thanks and enjoy.
my Experience with Stage Lightvwas when they first started I was A little skeptical low key but then I was like ok Ill just try it and see and I usually don't leave comments but for real this app the trutnh im always bust working 9-5's and the little time i have to record or make something hot this app comes in handy. The short response to this review is well worth it just don't try to put it all on your phone put it on a tablet so you can make that for your music just my suggestion.
Too cluttered and complicated UI for a mobile app. Why apple apps have great and simple interface and android apps are almost impossible to navigate. More UX designers needed in the Android world that's for sure.
This in my opinion is the best app on android devices or apple devices for making good music. It has many synths to choose from and many drum sounds to choose from. And this app could be better if more premade FX were added.
This app takes up a lot of space. As soon as you open it, it wants to download more stuff, to increase its space usage six-fold. And, you know, that's fine with me. That's why I have a spacious SD card. Problem is, this app will not go to SD. Thus, I can't use it. Fix that problem, and I'll try again. Until then, 1 star and zero recommendation from me.
gave it a shot , but its virtually unusable , i spent an hour making drum beats , and then when you hold to delete my saved beats , i press delete and nothing happens. am i missing something ? im stuck with a huge list of drum beats i made because they are not deleting would appreciate a reply !
All the difficult stuff is done well, but the simple, well established UI functions fail completely. For example, I have no idea what a MIDI region means in StageLight. Import, record or program something, great. But don't touch it afterwards because whatever you try to do, you'll only succeed at destroying what's there. It looks normal but nothing makes sense. No matter how long a region is, they are all the same length as the song. Setting the loop in and out points is messy. No room here...
