Useful app. I change my mind for the free version. If you think you might want to use it more than once then prepare to pay the money. The adds are the worst. Also the kind that take over volumn on your phone so this add just starts yelling at you. The app itself pretty effective if you ever get passed the adds. Be nice if there was a lower cost to rid the adds to keep the basic functions working.
Examples dont reflect terms well. 40yr ago I knew the terms & relationships. If this presentation were better, it would refresh my memory. It's more for someone doing it often, but too lazy to do it in their head.Some teaching effort applied& this might "be something".I'd do better with freehand apps & "rulers without numbers ". I played 1hr& could'nt tell which value was causing change or not Simply mirroring terms at input with in examples, might help folks follow it. Not intuitive enough.
Absolutely worthless, I need to build deck stairs with one landing and wouldn't you know you only get that by buying the pro version. I searched for staircase with one landing calculator. I saw stairs x-light, with the words I searched for this app should not have came up, the developer linked this app to that search to get people to install it, only to be told to buy the pro app for more than just strait stairs. It was misleading at best and an outright lie to push the pro version at worst.
Free version is ok, limited input makes it hard to get accurate calculations. I couldn't find a way to enter stringer length or thickness for bowstring setup. Pro version is cost prohibitive at $18.99, so I have no way to see if it has proper inputs for accurate calculations.
Easy to use, however I noticed that he bottom step height calculation was incorrect. The schematic diagram showed all risers at the same height. The bottom riser needs to have the tread board height deducted from the bottom to ensure all steps are the same height.
AWESOME app! Just punch in some very basic measurements and within a few seconds, maybe just one, this app does all the calculations and shows you a detailed layout. It cannot get any easier than this! I don't know how many 2x12x12' a friend and I hacked up several years ago while trying to make a stringer! I wish we'd known about this app. To the Developers.... You did a great job creating this app. Many thanks... ;)
Downloaded free app to remind myself on how to measure out stringers for stairs. Been about 20 yrs since I had to build any. I really like the app and will buy pro to support it. Would be nice if lengths of posts for landing of U stairs was included. I recommend this app for any novice or pro
free app is very much the same as the x pro, not a waste of money if it gets rid of adds. great app simple and accurate. will keep using but if you guys can add some new features id buy. just dont do something that messes this one up.
I now have version 2.0.21 installed. The default units are still mm and I still can't change it. I have done an uninstall each time, and waited for at least an hour before installing the updates. Thank you for trying.
this the first time I worked personally on a stairs project and was very worried how it's going to come out i tried the free app and it's was superb, am going for the pro version as it can give me exactly what my client wants..... I love this and so excited about the accuracy I got. thanks to the team who developed this. am crazy for you guys and will be watching out for more products from you...
EDITED. Ok..but can not set tread depth. Always assumes 10.5in. Using single 2x12. Else looks good. EDIT--thanks for the update. The switch for total run/run was not obvious. That helps. I'm doing a housed/bowstring stringer ..calcs look solid vs my cad model. Suggest you add 2 checks from Mike Guertin on Fine Homebuilding:: rise + run within 1 inch of 18. And 2*rise + run within inch of 25. These are comfort checks. Also ability to offset steps from face of bowstring. Thx.
Seems very simple and straightforward making it easy to use. I like how now it starts with how u want to measure, inches or centimeters. Used to take me forever to find how to change it
Beautifully built but very innacurate. Total Rise: 79-3/4" # of risers: 11, Unit rise: 7-1/4", Unit run: 10", Total Run: 100", Stringer length MUST BE 135-7/8", Pitch Length: 12-3/8", This app calculates both stringer length and pitch length wrong. Please fix the math and I will gladly give 5* Remember that the math is: stringer=√ (total rise²+(total run+phantom unit run) ²).
This is a great tool, especially to quick check out a staircase while estimating jobs. Great field use as well.

I can not get it to use a 10" unit run for the calculation. Stairs have to be built to code. I don't think the programmer has ever built a set of stairs.
this app takes the guess work out of building stairs, with visual representations and enough measurements to see what you want to create before attempting it 5/5 for me!

Good app....but needs to be understood properly multiple times before doing the actual and implementation.
So I had to get use to a app telling me where my math was wrong lol I'm a joiner and this thing is a life safer, I would like to get the paid version to give a full review I highly recommend it to any tradie But please keep in mind what your regulations and laws are about stairs
Very good with the calculations. It just needs to be able to save your work for future reference.

Really great app. It was about 20 years since I last made a set of stairs and this app took out all the guesswork and they came out perfect. I would like to see an option to use different units and/or give useful fractions (8ths, 16ths, etc.) instead of decimals. Update: I found the options after a response to my review. Thanks for your reply. I would give more stars if possible. Absolutely great app.
