Hi, the android app, specifically the astrophotography section does not work...when yu press run a reminder appears but does not work/star...I have tried with windows (there is aparently an executable) and it does work. Its a pitty that with the phone yu cannot do the same...pointless!
A stupid reminder prevents this app from running the astrophotography program when you have the option to trigger the photos selected. I went to the company website and found an older version of the app, it has other problems, but at least the program will run on the older version.
Does the job but could really do with an update. The user interface looks a little simple and outdated. No connection troubles in Android 10 but the app hasn't been updated in a while so I don't hold much luck for the future. If a piece of expensive hardware requires an app to run, the developers must make sure they keep the app updated or the hardware is rendered useless. I hope the developers and skywatcher take this onboard.
Excellent, I already own the Star Adventurer Pro, but the odd menu structure & access is awkward if you want to make sudden changes during a session, the SAM makes it very simple & fast to change to other modes. I also love the fact that I can sit back with a hot chocolate drink & still control the unit from the comfort of my chair, giving me the chance to scan the skies with binoculars while SAM does all the work....love it... One gripe i have is if I enter 20 photos it only takes 10 why???.
App doesn't run on realme gt master edition. It runs on my old redmi. I always get the message ( can't connect to network).
It no longer works on Android 11 for Pixel 4XL. It does not launch further passed the splash screen. It would launch and be useful 100% of the time on Android 10 for me, same phone. I'm disappointed that this wasn't updated beforehand by your developers given the beta. This is a great app and very useful, but it's now completely useless in a time when I need it to calibrate my Star Adventurer :( Please get an update out soon to fix the app.
Can't control camera, if the tick box for amount of photos is ticked it won't run it just brings reminder box, if unticked it runs. Useless if I cant set amount of photos
I used this and the SAM for about a month before moving to the larger Star Adventurer mount. I had no issues getting it to initially connect and operate the mount on my Galaxy S9+, though re-establishing the connection after a program is done is a little clunky if set to turn off WiFi while running. Though I no longer have the SAM, I still use this app for polar alignment and calculating hyperlapses. Now if they can just add the new dithering function to the SA advanced firmware, I'd be set!
FIX YOUR STUPID APP. LITERALLY CANT USE IT BECAUSE EVERY TIME I TRY TO RUN A SET OF EXPOSURES IT GIVES ME A POPUP AND THEN DOESNT START THE EXPOSURES. IT CONTINUES TO DITHER FOR SOME REASON AND RUINED 2 NIGHTS OF CLEAR SKY FOR ME. SCREW YOU.
Zero stars. Having to go to their website to download an untrusted APK in 2021 is ludicrous and shows nothing but disrespect for customers. Furthermore, until you select the "keep connected" in the Android pop-up warning that the tracker's wifi has no internet, you won't be able to connect; instructions don't mention it anywhere and it wasted me an hour.
After initially trying to use the app from the playstore and not hearing back from SkyWatcher via email about the app crashing. I decided to try one of the beta releases on their website, so far I have been able to use the beta release, so for those that are having issues give that a try. Note that you will need to install an 'Unverfied App' but I hope this information helps others!
At first the app dosent work, it's just crashes. After reading reviews you need to go on the Sky Watcher website, find software and Firmware updates and click on SynScan App and find the latest update and click download. At first it won't download (at least for my security settings) you need to authorize the download. Once it downloads the app will work right away.
Purchased star adventurer 2 to use on vacation and can't get this app to work. Tried the website version as well.. pretty poor to but a piece of equipment with this as a selling point and you can't use its connected features to either help you align or use to control your exposures 👎👎👎
It doesn't work at all! The program doesn't open after it is downloaded. I am not surprised because absolutely all software for expensive astrophotography equipment has bags, which are never fixed.
Tried ahead of buying the star adventurer 2i as I saw some of these comments, and like a lot of others I'm not getting past the initial splash screen. Will now be looking at getting a different star tracker from a different manufacturer unless this app gets a fix in the meantime. Very glad I checked this before buying. it was 2 stars, now i wish i could do negative! it won't load. first trip i took in 2 months, drove 3 hrs to take pictures on a remote area and couldnt open app and without cel signal couldnt download another app, so i couldnt control or even polar align!. thanks Sky Adventurer for ruining a trip! !
It's great to have a star tracker that basically requires an app that doesn't work. Can't get the darn thing to open, making this tracker worthless. Update, downloaded via their website, works. Seriously need to update their play store version....
Although this is designed to control a different model Star Adventurer than I own, the polar scope alignment tool is very useful. I own the Star Adventurer Pro, which is not controlled by app. Still, this is definitely worth a few MB of your devices storage!
App has stopped working which renders the SAM mini completely useless, very disappointing. UPDATE; downloading the firmware 1.6.0 from their website fixes this issue. Note you need the experimental version.
This is the only way to control SAM yet it cannot connect to the sam. The PC app connects and works but this app wont. It sees the device but cannot connect. I Updated firmware, reset wifi... im still left with a 300 dollar brick. 5 star reviews from people using it as a polar finder should be deleted. That's like giving a 5 star review to a meal because you liked the fork.
2.1.1 is broken, Can no longer communicate with the app, when trying to run an exposure from the APP mode on the SA. All I get is a warning saying the pictures will be taken when the right mode is set on the dial. Thankfully I still have 2.0.1 on my old phone so can still use my Star Adventurer. Took a while to realise that it had updated there was no notification it had updated with "new features" spent 30 mins trying to figure out what had happed as it was all working fine the night before.
