the app itself really is great (like so many others already pointed out). the only severe issue I'm having as that it won't allow me to distinguish between (self promoting) ads and actually useful notifications. I'd love to be informed about upcoming celestial event to observe in the sky like "advertised" in the app itself, but instead all I'm getting is annoying ads to articles they published on a daily basis. guys, if you just finished some text, this isn't considered an all important event!
Great app, but has had a bug with the compass for too long. Everytime the compass is enabled to see the stars relative to one's point of view, it resets the compass calibration for other apps like Google maps and it's a pain to have calibrate the compass over and over again. If that bug was fixed, I would rate 5 stars.
very cool app, worth the money. i have a Meade 10in Schmidt-Cassegrain and this app is very useful in finding near and deep sky objects. 3 stars because they DO NOT include everything the app offers in the initial purchase, deep sky objects is a seperate purchase, which i still purchased with some hesitancy, but overall a very useful app. combine everything into a single purchase and id give it 5 stars.
Email just sent to StarWalk2 support. HELL-PPPPO PLEASE! 😁🤝👍 Hi, Why isnt my app opening? Do I have to pay again? It's a one time purchase, not annually. Ty It doesn't open yet. Yes, I'll contact support because I purchased one and the STAR WALK installed stays frozen showing the Milky Way Gal. Ty. Today, I'm trying to use the app to see the dawn skies and it freezes in the milky way picture. Can someone help me and send me an email? I'm missing the best winter skies! Lol 🙏
Good app so I bought full add-ons. I can share the app with my kids but not the add-ons. Is this a bug on my end or the add-ons have to be purchased by every family member (that would be a bummer). And there was no way to contact support from within the app. Thanks for the response, bummer that the add-on cannot be shared with family. Anyway good app.
Pretty good star gazing app overall! The interface is visually nice on my LG V60, and everything is working as intended (including the compass feature). They did a good job with this one! I went with this version (over the free one) simply for the family sharing option; $4 is totally fair for an app like this that doesn't have ads. As to if I'll purchase the extra content - not sure quite yet.
Updated my rating & review for this app because I went to settings & turned off all sounds; plus, now I see a 'free' button to click on the "pay to unlock all features" screen (I subscribe to paypass). So far, I like what I see...thanks!
Was disappointed that you had to make an in app purchase. It was the same price as the download so ended up being $10 all up. If I knew that I never would have accepted the inapp purchase. Seemed confusing to me as I thought I didn't already set it up. Anyway. I wish I could get my inapp purchase refunded. It's useless to me 😞
I paid for the pro version a year ago and cant even get it to calibrate. Have tried probably 20+ times. I have an android phone and its garbage on them. Gone through two phones with this and it wont work on either.
I love this app. The graphics are amazing and there's tons of info. The ONLY thing I don't like about the app is that when you set a time and date to look at different dates' skies, the slider used to adjust is WAY too touchy. Most other sky apps use an input system where you just type the date and time. With this slider on Star Walk 2, you spend more than twice as much time just trying to get the slider to stop on the correct one without flying past it. It's very very annoying.
This application is wonderful, in many ways. It's simply gorgeous. But I've noticed there are a few things that could make it way better. You could add more features for the spectrum. Veiwng planets , galaxies, and the like in infrared, or gamma. Also, it would be cool to see voyager 1 and 2!. Also, quasars, black holes, and exoplanets! I've purchased the full version of this app and I love it, I just noticed those few things. Hats off. I'll give you a Constellation, of 5 shining stars. 🌟
I downloaded starwalk 2 free, then paid about $6.96 for all the extra extensions. I couldn't access them, so I went ahead and paid for the starwalk 2 full app, logged back into that and now it's telling me I have to pay for the bundle again. I was supposed to have been sent some redeem codes, but I never got those. Can't recommend this app at all right now. Maybe if the developers fix this problem, then I will be able to recommend it. *tried to get a refund for $3.00 and was denied.
Really great app! Easy to navigate and full of extra information including mythological tales connected to individual constellations. One thing I'm missing is an option to switch the names of objects (mostly constellations) into another language or ideally to show both - the current name and the name in preferred language. Could you please add this feature? I can help you with Slovak and Czech names. Thanks!
In theory, a great app and I have had it for ages. But you have to buy a load of extra content when you get in the app. Also, the compass feature seems to longer work. It used to work a treat, what's changed? I have no idea, but apparently my phone no longer has certain features it did before. That was the main attraction to the app for me and. Is gone.
Dont forget to uninstall the free version(Android) if you had that app prior to the paid version. I had both the free and paid version and continued receiving notifications from both. Everytime I would open a notification it would take me to the free version with ads. Super annoying, until I uninstalled the Sky Walk 2 Free version. For some reason I thought it was the year 2021 and the app developers had this figured out.
I love this app, it's so rich in detail, the graphics are just beautiful, easy to use with everything pretty much explaining itself. I did get the whole package, all the add-ons for €3 or so when I initially downloaded it so not sure what you're not getting if you don't do that. Overall, if you have a relatively recent phone this is the best star map yet and I've had one or two. 10/10. Brilliant.
I r really enjoy this app. I started with the free version first and loved it, then decided to switch to this one since I do have the play pass subscription and now have a new device with GPS. Even if I had to put up with ads it would still be worth it! Anyone that wants to know what is in the sky above this app shows you. Very educational, and informative. Tells you what and when things will happen like moon phases, comets, satellites, constellations.. the list goes on. Rate it above 5*
It's OK. Coming from Sky Guide this app has way less deep sky objects but it's still pretty good. For some reason you can't select or search for the (Large Magellanic Cloud) which is very strange as you can search for the Small Magellanic Cloud. Also a lot of the deep sky objects are poorly pasted into the app. Please make it look like it's actually supposed to be there instead of taking a screenshot and pasting into the app. (That Small Magellanic Cloud picture is horrible. Please use a better one) Last thing, I hate how when you zoom into a deep sky object and when you unselect it the whole object the whole thing magically disappears. Why? This app is only good if you want quick information on it. Don't expect to spend more then 10 minutes on it. Adrian
It's an amazing app! Works perfectly on my phone, I literally can't believe something as beautiful, extraordinary and accurate as this actually exists! Thank you so, so much for making this, you're heroes! The only real problem I have with the paid version is that you have to pay all this money just to get rid of ads. The ads aren't even that bad, honestly. It would make a lot more sense (financially) if you at least get extra features with the paid version.
A great app that really helps identify objects in the night sky! I like everything about it except the date/time selection tool. It is much too sensitive to the touch and can be a major pain when trying to "rolling" the numbers to your desired date and time. A little less sensitive would be nice.
This is just absolutely wonderful the best money i have ever spent on any app, it makes me feel like the commander of a warp speed spaceship exploring the universe.
This is one of my favorite apps of all time. It is a great way to learn about the constellations and pretty much anything that is visible in the night sky. I also really appreciate the notifications about upcoming events of interest like meteor showers etc. My only complaints are: - the compass is not aligned well - constant payments for everything, even once purchasing the app (I ended up paying for everything though and now it doesn't bother me lol)
I downloaded the free version. really like it and then upgraded to the full version. There are so many features and notifications mean I am seeing so many more objects in the sky. A must for anyone who wants to know more and see many celestial objects. there is a learning curve to utilize everything this app has to offer. So take a cew minutes to acquaint yourself after you download.
Purchased the premium/paid version and I don't see ads however the app & notifications continually nag me to buy the premium/paid version.
It keeps notifying you despite having notification set off, and there is a notification time window you can set, it completely ignores it, really annoying!! I really do not want ANY notifications. I have had to switch notifications off under phone settings / apps as their interface doesn't work properly, if this doesn't work and it sends one more notification it is gone! It is also very difficult to exit out of the app, far more difficult then any app i have ever use, poorly designed.
