The most glitchy and persnickety app I ever used. It keeps puttion a "no internet connect" bar overtop of everything, even when I do have one, and there's no way to remove it. Even when it doesn't appear initially, it appears if you ever have to send the app to the background to dobsomething else. Plus, it won't let me watch all the channels I'm paying to have access to. Needs to be totally rebuilt from scratch!
- Navigation in the guide is slow even on a wired connection. - Fast forward and rewind on the recorded shows needs to be redone completely. You cant see how far you are going as the image on the screen doesn't change. - Sports channels need a better frame rate as they look bad with fast movement. ( I know they are working on this, but hockey is a big thing in Canada.) - The app on the phone is useless as it feels 90% of the channels are not allowed on phones. - The pause seems to restart live TV channels some times.This is a bit buggy. From other IPTV services the quality is just not there yet.
The login boxes (username and password) get covered up by the virtual keyboard (currently using SwiftKey). These input areas would be best relocated to a higher point. Visual feedback (even password asterisks) are important. Also login screen only supports portrait orientation. My devices are in landscape orientation 99% of the time.
After six weeks with Start TV, my experienxe is much improved. All channels are working well. User interface varies a bit between PC, set-top box and phone. Some bugs in the user interface. Jitter caused by dropped frames are mostly gone now. Twelve hour history on most channels is a feature I use daily. PVR is network, whereby your recording is in the Start TV servers allowing playback on any supported device through your Start.ca Internet connection. On my OnePlus 6 phone, video is very good
Can't play half the channels I subscribe to on my phone, even when connected to my start.ca internet. They state it's because of government regulations, but I never had any issues with Bell doing this. Also, your user interface is terrible. Feels like it's 10 years old.
Only issue I've had with the app is that on my Lenovo tablet I can't scroll to the bottom of my list of scheduled recordings when in portrait mode, and I can't see the cancel/save buttons when editing them in landscape mode. It works fine on my phone though.
Needs to be updated for the more recent Android APIs. Looks very dated. Does not adhere to modern UX guidelines. Scrolling inertia in the guide is bad. Buggy search bar disappears. Back button does not work correctly in the Series Recording view.
I give this app the lowest rating because I feel like if I am paying for your services, I should be able to access ALL shows from both my tv and mobile devices. I would rate no stars if I could. The fact that I can only watch two or three shows on my phone or tablet out of 30+ channels is ridiculous. Also, there has been absolutely NO effort on Start TV's part to address this or to tell us why a show is "not playable".
Constant error not on home network when I am. Apparently you have to leave your main TV on to use other devices. Scrolling thru guide is brutally painful. Jumps all over. No way to make a favourite channels list.
Looking good for a first limited release. Still quite a bit of polishing needed though. Many elements of the interface aren't playing well with the high resolution of my Galaxy Note 8.
This app is a stupid joke. When you try to set up an account you can't because it says that you are entering invalid creditials, duh they are going to be invalid because you don't have an account. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because I like the background color. The app needs to be taken down until you guys make it easier for ppl to set up accounts.
Start is a great company and love their TV service has saved me a lot of money compared to Rogers and Bell. Has some minor glitches but customer support is very dedicated to making it work. For those negative reviews saying they are unable to sign up is because you must do so with Start.ca it is not a standalone free service app and must pay and be on their internet connection.
Constantly states I am not connected to Wifi when there has been no connection lost. I am literally sitting 2 ft away from the router. Didn't believe the reviews but yeah this app sucks.
Amazing job Start.ca! For a new product, so far all is running smoothly. The interface is easy to navigate. We're enjoying the service 😊
Doesn't work, I couldn't sign in for a week now I can sign in but no guide no Channels, called start several times and was told they are looking into the problem, it has been over a week now with no resolution. Disappointed. Don't try it
No built in ability to cast. It's 2021 and you're a tech company yet you have no ability to cast on your app.
Since the most recent update the app does not respond all the time, sometimes I have to click many times for it to work, also if it does not respond I have to force stop the app, I hope this gets resolved soon
Downloaded for mobile, don't waste your time. Doesn't work. 21st Century and they can't provide a functional app for mobile streaming. Mickey Mouse operation.
useless app as it constantly says you cant view channels unless you are connected to home internet which I am. The guide jumps around while trying to navigate. come on Start can we get a darn reply here???
No zero or negative can't even setup up an account if I don't have one not see anything for tv at all!!!! This is not a good way to get new customers
You have to actually call a number when you download it and thsy want to charge you a minimum of 25 bucks plus a month.. Not for me . I thought it was free or cheeper at least. Wish I zero stars
It worked ok at best, but it was very glitchy and the UI also needs some work though..
when I try to register and login it won't let me tried to uninstall and reinstall and same thing happens I just deleted it again would like to try it fix if u can
Application is working perfectly. Also this is a Canada only app that works on Start.ca only. Works only at home
A waste of time! The green screen lasts forever indicating that this app ain't worth looking into
Great app I use it day in day out Period.Love it can watch all my shows on my devices from the PVR.
Has been broken since launch. Updates slow to non-existent.
I was trying to set up a username and password but he kept saying it's wrong username and password so I decided to delete the app
Can't watch sports channels on my Samsung tablet! Otherwise is ok.
Mostly works, with the occasional connection issues. However, I installed it on an Nvidia Shield (2019 edition), and the app will frequently interrupt other apps (Netflix, Crave, Prime, etc) causing them to either pause or quit entirely, which is incredibly frustrating. Multiple updates have yet to fix this.
