Absolute trash I called tech support and everything and I couldn't even access the full subscription version of the app tht I was paying the whole time save your money
Very difficult to get a traditional page view. What appears to be a summary view comes up first. After a lot of fiddling a traditional full page display may finally come up. That ought to be the default opening, with the ability to page through the paper and see the articles displayed in a manner similar to the physical paper. I know it is there because I have seen it but it is very user unfriendly as it stands.
(still) unable to log in. I finally decided to see if I'd missed an update since I still havent been able to log in for months now to view the articles tied to the notifications I'm getting, but I guess there's no bug fix and we're all unable to access our paid content. Very frustrating, and certainly not the first time I've had trouble accessing what I'm paying for with the Statesman. Please fix this!
This app has the buggiest login process I've ever seen. Most of the time you can't log in to use the subscription you pay for. If you try to log in using your google account, it redirects you to the play store and times out. For the past few weeks, the password recovery link and process "were currently not functioning". Before that, if you had a subscription you'd have to activate it almost every time you'd want to read your local paper. 2009 app shoehorned into a semi-modern interface.
Terrible! I used to be able to get the paper in a format that looked like a newspaper. Now it is a useless conglomeration of individual articles in no apparent order.. I have reset my password, which I had not changed but they no longer recognized, several times on several days. It always responds that it has acceepted the new passwaord, but when I aattempt to sign in it repeated presents a cute little ion that says, "Try again". It is no longer cute!
Update 7: they.... Tried to fix it. But it's still broken. Update 6: you guessed it. Still broken. Update 5: still broken Update 4: still broken Update 3: Still broken.... Can't log in to subscription Won't let me sign in to my subscription. Update 2: more than month later, still can't access subscription content. Canceling subscription. Login won't let me access my paid subscription.
If you have not yet subscribed, please don't. This is akin to robbery. You should be able to access content on the app if you have a digital subscription. No way to login with your existing account! And the chat support folks cannot drop you fast enough once they find out your issue. They must know it is unfixable. Extreme incompetemnce.
This app is totally worthless. After "upgrading" to the new version, the app refuses to recognize my account! Yes, I have the right login information. I have triple checked that... I guess they don't want their subscribers to be able to read their paper. That is a novel business model.
Haven't been able to log into this app in over a month. I can log into the website on my laptop just fine. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app did not help. I'm going to cancel my subscription if this isn't fixed very soon.
So-so. Really don't like the "new and improved" version. I'd give it a single star, but the paper itself isn't really any worse than it's ever been and it has never been much in my 3/4 century experience with it. Print edition best for birdcage liner.
Would be nice if you were actually able to login to your account. When signing in, after putting in my email and password the App goes to Google Play and just sits there with a spinning circle. Have never been able to get the account login to work....kind of limits the usefulness of your product don't ya think?
No way to report missed paper deliveries!!!!!
UPDATE: We went from a linking prob to a login prob: does the Austin "paper of record" care? So far, no. I dont do paper so this subscription is ending. (10.07.2021) PREVIOUS: Subscribers should "link their subscription via an Account Mgmt" tag ---- AND, no longer possible: that vanished with the Dec 30th update. A fix is needed - not repeated requests to start 30 day trial. (02.07.2021)
I'm completely unable to login to the app, so I can't read stories on my phone anymore. This is from the latest update, willing to change rating once I'm able to login and use the app again
This paper is not worth the cost of the paywall. The app used to give access to the top stories with ads, now it is all locked down and as a result it has been removed from my phone.
App has reverted to previous version zo one tap to zoom turns text red and changea font. This worked fine until 2 days ago.
I cant sign in! The app doesnt comply with Google's sign-in standards and, since the app doesnt have a browser, i cant sign-in at all.
Havent been able to log in since Nov 2021. Reported it to the Statesman for help. Did what they recommended but still cant log in.
Can't get to e-edition lately from this app. I think I'm just going to unsubscribe. There's been problems for months for me.
We spent the entire morning with 2 Statesman representatives on the phone as today we were unable to log in to read the paper. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the ap and it does not recognize email address or password. Statesman representative confirmed email address and password. Still no luck!
This app is as terrible as the epaper, and the Statesman does not care. It is very difficult to give feedback, and they never respond. This is a company on the skid.
Login is not compatible with password savers, cannot print from app. As worthless as the paper itself has always been.
I have been unable to sign in to my account since the last update. I'm going to cancel my subscription if this isn't fixed soon, because as it stands I'm paying to not read the news.
Battery hog, will no longer allow subscribers to log in, feedback feature requires installing another program to use. I'm about ready to cancel my subscription.
App has been broken for years, apparently they don't give a sh**. I was going to subscribe, instead I deleted the app, no subscription, thanks I'll get news elsewhere.
Haven't yet been able to sign in to my account on this app. I type in name and password correctly and the app keeps telling me to try again.
It is a terrible reading experience. I would prefer my old digital edition.
Glad I have an iPad. Simply doesn't let me login. Gets stuck on loading screen. Use the apple version.
Google authentication is broken. I can't sign in with my Google account linked to my Austin Statesman subscription.
I was able to log into the app! It has been fixed! This is an update to my rating from 11/10/21 where I reported that the app did not allow users to log in. The app seems a little different, hopefully the notification options work well now. I'll update my review based on my usage over the next few months, but for now I'll give it a solid 3.
