Doesn't work for me unfortunately. Galaxy note 10+ 5g. Tried all the settings, as all I want to do is keep Spotify open when in the car. Phone still turns the screen off regardless of what the app suggests it's going to do. Shame, as it looks pretty good and easy to use.
Now relegated to the abandonware dustbin. After using the paid version of this app for years, I had to uninstall it because it hasn't been updated since 2017 and is not compatible with my new Note 10+. I used this app to prevent the screen from shutting off when using specific apps, and no matter how I tweak the settings on the app and the phone, no dice. Switched to Wakey, which is up-to-date and is easier to configure.
I love having and being able to use this app. However the 3 different modes are confusing . Half the time when my screen has locked the status bar will say that Stay Alive is paused when it shouldn't be. And yet it also appears that it isn't. The 2nd mode is supposed to work while charging or while on battery but I don't think it does. It only seems to work on battery.
I got this because I use my Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet for reference when painting, and had to constantly tap the screen every ten minutes. The app did not work initially on my selected app (QuickPic), but after re-reading the developer's comments in reviews, I finally enabled "data access usage" and it works like a charm! I went into my tablet's Settings and Searched for that, found something similar, and sure enough, "Stay Alive" was not ON. Enabled it, and all is well. Love it now.
I absolutely love it. I dont have to worry about my stupid phone dimming every 3 seconds. Or when I just look up to see my phone, the screen was not on of course. So thank you Stay Alive! This App saves you so much time as well. I believe it's one of the most underated App's out there! So download it now if you have trouble with your screen dimming out!
I have the latest version and it works if I configure it to "stay alive" all of the time. This means having to turn it on and off when I do and don't want it to perform it's function. However, when I try to configure it to only function when specific apps are running, it doesn't do the intended job. :( I enabled the Usage Access permission for Stay Alive as suggested for such a configuration. I added my 3 apps to the list of "Selected apps that will Stay Alive" and yet when I run any of those apps, my screen still times out. I would give 5 stars BUT the app has to work as advertised before I can do that.
Really free, UI is a bad fit for MIUI 12.5 but it works, need to enable the app to modify system settings for it to work, and it does! I tried Wakey after looking at some comments, but Wakey dims my screen before lighting it up to keep my screen awake. That happens after every time I interact with my screen. To go change the permission, go to Apps -> Manage Apps -> 'AppName' -> Other Permissions
update : The newest Android update seems to stop this from keeping my screen alive during calls. I have a Note 9 & one thing I hate is how it keeps blacking out the screen during calls regardless of the fact that I always use speaker. Samsung said the proximity sensor is built in now so I cannot turn it off. Enter Stay Alive! It keeps my screen on during calls and all those robotic commands. "press 6 for" "press 1 to continue to hold" Hard to do when the screen keeps going dark.
good but not perfect. it's reliable when up and running, however, i need to manually run the app after a phone reboot. i forgot all the time and it's annoying. Other similar apps run itself after phone reboot, however, they are not as reliable. I hope I can have the best of both worlds. 😯
Works well with my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. Only one thing that I find out of place, the icon color in the system tray on top. Red = switched on. Green = switched off. I'm a designer and I can tell you dev honestly that it is VERY confusing. Please consider changing the display color and ithe icon appearance. Green = switched on (the app is running). Red/Grey = switched off (app inactive). Blue = Conditioned (personalized settings). Change these and this app is WONDERFUL!
Executed masterfully. Saved my sanity after wiping my Galaxy, and the screen timeout stopped working altogether, with a 10 second dim and lock setting regardless of what Settings had saved. This is the only app that's alleviated my situation and lived up its author's description, and I can easily recommend it to anyone that uses their phone for work, reading, gaming or anything else where you need to have the screen on, and prefer to avoid the need to fight with & unlock it every 10 seconds.
Finally, an app that did its job! It works very well even on later versions of Android. At first, it wasn't working but I quickly realised that I had it so it wouldn't work when my phone was docked thanks to all the settings being on one screen. The only thing i find mildly uncomforting is the fact that even when I close the app, the notification that says it's paused is still there. I don't know if it uses up battery life but I hope it doesn't.
It is difficult to navigate, there are too many options. I don't mind that though, it's just a heads up for others trying to decide on this over other apps. Also, it does not stay on all the time, even with the notification up (which they say keeps the app in the foreground to prevent it from going to sleep). Other than that, does what I need it to do.
Used this for many years, and would have been a 5* app before. But with Android 10 on my Pixel, it no longer works reliably, and the donator option to start automatically at boot no longer works. Last updated in 2017, so I guess these things are not likely to be fixed.
Keeps my Ring App on when I'm waiting for videos to load or go to live view immediately. Before the app, my device would screenshots timeout causing the app to have to reopen and reload which got very annoying. I have a Note 5 set on medium battery saver which is the reason for the quick screen timeout. Stay Alive solved this problem!
I got this app because I was expecting it to be able to keep the lock screen on and prevent it from dimming. I, and many others, would like to be able to enjoy the artwork for the albums that we play on Spotify and music players on Android. I came across this app, because I was looking for something that would essentially prevent the dim feature on the lock. I don't know if this app is supposed to do that, but no matter what I do to configure it, it doesn't do that. That's a real disappointment!
3 stars just because it used to work great but after installing this time, my screen shuts off anyway when the app is set to keep it on. Since Android and other devs for some reason STILL havent figured out or done anything to work around the issue of some apps needing the screen on to run properly we need Your App! Please fix!
I've been looking for an app that keeps my screen awake. Unfortunately, I'm still looking. None of the various modes here work. It's absolute trash.
I've been using this app for years, it has always worked on every device, however I recently upgraded to galaxy s20 running Android 10 and it's not working. I even tried adjusting the battery settings and it's still not working. Please work on a solution for this.
Stay Alive is on of those apps that sticks to a free internet moral. App comes with a dashboard with various options that let you feel in control. Has donor section which offers more freedom with the app ie; hide the app, load up on boot, ext. Not an add in sight! I love options/freedom/control and this app offers just that. 5/5 would donate if wasn't broke. 1 negative feedback, I believe the option to close the app should be separate from the other options and/or more at top of the options. Thank you so much, keep up the amazing stuff!
It works! I use it to keep Spotify open. Update: Since my S10 upgraded to Android 10 it no longer automatically starts up when I restart my phone. I have paid to have this feature. I have also tried reinstalling the app.
Bravo Zulu. This app fixed the screen dimming problem many complain about no matter what settings, factory reset etc. Android 7.0 Nougat and Oreo 8.1 (update) has not resolved the issue in which this app has. If the app (software) fixed the bug then I don't think it is a hardware issue. If this app rendered the solution many face or had to return their phone due the annoying screen dimming in 5 seconds. The devs of this app should give Samsung a call. SMDH! Just saying.
Like others I depended on this app for years but with the most recent android update it no longer works as expected. I was disappointed to see that it hasn't been updated in 3 years. Hoping the developer is still out there somewhere and will update the app. Till then, I have to uninstall and find an alternative.
It worked great for a few months, but now the screen on my old tablet (which I use as a weather station) keeps going dark. When I touch the screen, the Stay Alive error message says "off duty, user not present." Not sure what that means, but it's clearly counter to the intended purpose of the app!
