Just does the basic functions. Works the channel, volume, power. That's it for free. 99cent upgrade to see the current channel guide programming. That's a bate and switch. I can do more from the controller. But I suppose if you don't have a controller then it would have some value. So, I say don't bother.
I thought maybe this was an app to stream my netflix, or xfinity stream app, but all it does is make your phone an extra remote. There are plenty of other hotel chains that allow you to connect for free. I just stayed at a Marriott last week and they actually allow you to connect your netflix with their "Ted TV" for free.....who pays full price for movies in this day and age? not me. Hilton, get with the times! You're light years away compared to other large hotel chains!
I can not recommend this app. True, only 99¢. The description Icon is so small that a common finger touch overlays the button and changes the channel. Many program descriptions are empty, the ones that are present are not very helpful because of their brevity. The only positive thing I can find is the ability to direct enter a program with one finger touch. Might as well use the Hotel's remote! It's just a service to make you feel "up-to-date"!
Just ridiculous. It's 2021 and we still have hotels forcing you to only watch their programming. These TVs are manufactured so you can't change your input. Just want to watch my Fire stick. But hey, if you want an interactive guide so you can see what's on a channel before you select it, that'll be 99¢, for a year. Screw all who choose this as their hotel entertainment service.
You're better off using a regular remote. It works, but only just. It doesn't work like a normal remote, which made it confusing to use. It doesn't let you see what's actually on each channel unless you pay a yearly subscription, which is just plain stupid--I would have been fine with a one-time purchase--but what really irks me is that the damn notification that begs you to buy it will NOT go away, no matter how many times you click "dismiss". If only my room's remote wasn't low on power. 👎👎
This app works as long as you know how to use it. First step, the hotel is asking for the app to be download it. Second, you need to make sure you open the app and put the code is asking to enter. Third, the TV most be on Chromecast mode. And fourth, from your phone you need to cast like if you have use Chromecast before. If you never used it you will experience problems and don't waste your time at that point. The hotel needs to update their Chromecast to the Google tv experience.
Not sure why all the negative reviews. Of course they're trying to get you to buy PPV movies. It's a revenue stream. I got the app because it's a handy channel guide that's much faster than using the one on the tv. Also switches the channel on tv when you pick what channel you want. Does exactly what I bought it for.
It's pretty alright. For people traveling often and staying in Hiltons with the capability, it will allow you to quickly switch between channels instead of the painfully slow guide on most hotel boxes. If you pay .99 a year you get an interactive guide that includes TV shows and the like. People complain about the subscription, but it can be canceled at any time and fairly easily if you don't like it. It makes for a decent remote without paying for a subscription if you have go-to channels.
It sounds like hotels can choose the functionality of this app. A few allow for streaming content from your phone. Most don't. I'm at a hotel where this app just makes your phone into another remote, which is entirely useless. It also allows me to pay $20 for a movie I don't want to watch. Good God, this is 2021. I will just watch what I want on the small screen of my phone, I guess. What a joke.
Dunno what everyone is whining about..it works as advertised. It does its basic free functions once app is downloaded: power the tv ON & OFF, volume UP & DOWN, basic menu guide of what is on each channel, On Demand stuff, and your hotel info. If you want more, than pay the $0.99..it's that simple.
This app is essentially useless. You have access to a poor to navigate pay-to-view movie selection and the ability the change to a specific live tv channel. You can see the data name of the channel but cannot even see what is on at the time. May as well use the remote.
Literally nothing more than a remote control for specific hotel TVs. Basically useless. Charges you 99 cents to see what's playing on each channel. A feature you already get for free on the TV.
Basically an additional remote on your phone. Allows you to change channels, volume etc. Nothing more than you can do with the remote. Kind of pointless. No options in the app for casting from phone to TV unfortunately. App last updated in 2016 it says so I guess this app is not going to be updated.
not impressed, i thought it would enable casting capability or rent cheap movie but no casting and movies are really expensive. if you get the paid version you get a guide, if you dont, you get nothing that the remote wont do but you can see a table that shows channel number vs channel network which could be useful to help find your favorite network.
A bit better than the hotel TV remote, it lists a little info about the programs showing now +next on basic live TV for you to scroll thru on your device, so you can select without flicking thru all the channels on screen. Also manages pay per view, if there's $25 you're eager to spend on a single viewing of a movie.
Misleading. Suggests you can cast media from your device. You can't. It's just a remote app to use the hotel's TV where it trys to get you to pay for movies you probably already own. Just bring a Chromecast next time you vacation.
Poor selection, several channels had no reception. $20 movie rentals for films running free on Netflix and Prime. Not certain what kickbacks hotels get, but this is one guest service that need to go. 99cents for an ap this poor feels like I'm flying a Southwest airline and not staying in a resort.
Installed it and un-unstalled it a few minutes after. Couldn't cast to the TV, was just a remote control to change channels. Wanted an extra charge to actually see what was playing. I guess options are controlled by the hotel, but I see no point in the app.
Lacks the basic functionality of input control. Which is basically the only reason why I'd ever want to download an app the interact with a hotel TV.
Despite at least 20 minutes of trying, this app just... didn't work. I installed it, paired a device, and selected an app. No matter how many times or apps I had tried, not a single one decided to load. What an absolute unmitigated piece of unadulterated garbage.
This app is how my phone, ( Samsung Galaxy S9+) was hacked into through Bixby...... and trying to connect to Chromecast which I waisted 4 hours that night once I realized my phone was doing things by itself, its still not back to normal. You would think that the Hardrock Hotel would have better security on their networks.
App works well, BUT the people who set up the TV in the hotel never actually plugged the Chromecast into the TV. We were pulling our hair out until we looked behind the TV. Arg. try that before you give up. I'm giving the app 4 stars because their FAQ doesn't even have this in the troubleshooting section.
What a horrible app. Pay for the program guide that is free on the TV? You cripple the channel listing hoping people will pay? What a terrible business model. User experience for the app is also terrible. All the menus and controls are unintuitive. An inexperienced intern was hired to develop this with zero oversight. There is no other way you'd end up with an app this bad. It's a shame too, because something like this could have been useful if done thoughtfully. I also expected casting.
This app and company are pieces of garbage. Uninstalled immediately. Its literally just to sell you more useless garbage. This is just a company designed to be a money grab for hotels. They dont allow firesticks to be used on their systems?! Of course not, they want you to pay them to access even more limited content that Netflix. Too bad almost everyone has a tablet, laptop, and cell phone and can easily use any of those instead.
Pointless app. All it does is show you the channels, nothing the default tv guide won't show you. VERY LAGGY. Takes up to a minute to register that you selected a channel. If you wany yonsee what shows are on you have to pay for it. Might as well just use the remote.
This is ridiculous, the TVs in this hotel are wired like it's 1997. I can't hook up my video game console or DVD player to any of the HDMI ports in the back of the TV. Like anyone orders pay preview anymore. I quickly deleted this app when I realized there was no way to control the TV in my hotel room.
I think perhaps the casting problems stem from the fact that this app hadn't been updated in 5 years. We connected with no problem but were unable to cast to the TV through any of our apps and on two different devices, and, as everyone else has started, it's just a cash grab charging you $1 to access the 'interactive' guide. Just skip it all.
