When you move to another app this app refreshes and starts you from scratch on your search. This is not very helpful considering the people that use these campsites are going to be in areas where there is no data. The second issue is that people mark a lot of camps that are paid. There is also not a lot of information on camps once you select one. It would be nice if people would leave or could take notes. It's not that I don't like this app or the concept, but I think it could be better.
Fantastic stop over. 5 minutes walk to morrisons. lovely views over the Clyde.
I've been using StayFree for months now traveling the USA. The system this company uses is like no other in their regard for helping travelers like myself find spots. Although at the moment there are not many US users, so it seems like you're paving the way for others which adds to the adventure. Adding spots is quick and easy, so come on what are you waiting for hit the download button. ๐๐บ๐ฒ #vanlifeusa @Tombo_Twofeet
Nice idea but low functionality. Sharing spots doesn't work. A sharing link only opens the app and does not show the shared spot. Creating a spot works, but you can't delete them ever after. No information about collected data in the background. Why?
It's right what I wanted. I love the app. The idea of cleanups it's very good. I would love the option to add a spot where there is fresh water or I can dump grey water.
At least one star too many. Really doesn't work for me. Is clunky at best. Seems to assume people will add places, rather than expect to find them.
I tried it the last two weekends around rural Ontario, and no matter where I am, it only brings up paid campgrounds, not places I can stay free. I may have misunderstood the app, I thought the app was meant to store places you can stop and sleep free, like rest stops etc. Am I using it wrong?
I prefer this app to other ones available. Reviews tell me what I need to know & it is so easy to plan a backup stop for the night if i don't find what I am looking for. The app is still young but getting more active. Thumbs up to the creators๐
Not for me. Reminds me of the RVLife app as it opens in Berlin, Germany. Distance is in kilometers, couldn't find a way to change.
For free boondocking, not bad. No one has ever bothered us. we feel safe there, but still keep. one eye open, lol- easier to hit your target if upon can sew it :)
nice and clean with privacy depending what spot you pick.
The best app for someone traveling from state to state!
There weren't any spots at all on the map. Perhaps it is because I am on the UK ?
Very little information lots of parking spaces if you like parking on the road or carparks.
Why do they call their app Stay Free? Most places are not free therefore that is misleading. Anyway, I gave two star because there are some free places.
Very confusing, could not find anything. NOT USER FRIENDLY!!
Still exploring the app, but so far so good! Got to out first destination and is just as described ๐
very hard to use I also don't understand it . so it's very hard to use .
I can say that the app is working now. I wish future will bring only better experiences.
Every site I looked at actually had a fee when you look on the their website
Users have to be more active to add places they found on the way. Go go go!
Apart from Potholes you cannot complain its totally free
can't see the point of the app. Cool, shows me where I'm at.......I know that already, what I want is to know where I'll be. There's no sites unless I put them there? No point in that.
hard to find the places i need on it (my "van" is electric and i need cheap or free places to stay overnight and charge, specially when i can't charge on public stations because of how dumb the system doesn't work in spain!!); a bit buggy (when adding a new spot, i had to enter information twice as it lost everything i wrote); and missing agpl/fupl but otherwise promising app.
