The link between app and cam requires Good WiFi to be reliable, especially in houses with upvc double glazing. I installed a second WiFi router in the roof space to get round initial problems. Output from the app is visible from the Internet (ie beyond the reach of home WiFi) without user intervention, which the device manages to do without it showing in the router's list of connected devices. Strange.
Works well apart from the playback option crashes the App. This seems common and has been asked before, however the responses need to be translated into English if possible. My firmware on the light is up to date, and the app seems to be current. Any help would be useful.
Switch to the new app! Don't use this one! This app does not show the correct IP of camera, and settings are a bit difficult to decipher. The RTSP URL is not available anywhere in app.
Camera and light work very well, the app is my only issue. It does not notify me or my wife on our phones when someone is activating the camera. It also doesn't always connect to the camera. Big app overhaul required.
Would be nice if the ugly black notification and icon would be refreshed to meet today's design guidelines. The reach slider doesn't seem to stay on the value you've set it, it always jumps to a higher value when you check back.
Light is great quality and easy to install. Picture quality is also great but the app is very poor. The camera does not record for some reason and the HD card is fitted correctly however even after a reset, the camera will still not record.
Unable to update camera firmware - app is telling me my camera does not have the latest software version but the "update" button does not do anything. On the "about device" screen it says 13.11.2019 is the latest version, but on the "check update" screen it says 17.02.2020 is the latest. I have now done a factory reset, re-connected the camera and still can't get the latest firmware update to work Rating dropped due to receiving no reply to my problem
Audio quality seriously lacking or there is an issue with the software. Needs a lot more features to match up with the price of the physical device. Latest firmware removes rtsp support.
This is a great security light and very easy to set up. Picture quality is good.The app is simple to use My only problem the warning noise on the table could be louder. That's why I didn't give 5 stars. Good quality and well made. Will be buying more.
Poor translation into English, including several spelling mistakes. Great difficulty connecting to the camera, with unhelpful error messages
Shocking. Absolutely shocking. Downloaded app on Huawei Honor 10 lite phone and when you click on app to open it doesn't. My wife managed to get app to open on IPhone but set up is failing even after minimum download required is met.
when I connect the second camera, the first one automatically goes offline. I can only see one live camera
Needs proper user management, I shared a cam to a family member, they typed the password wrong 3 times and I too was locked out of the camera.
Steinel Cam app keeps stopping. Software and firmware always updated, not helping.
Noise background generated by camera. There is actually no customer support.
Please refer back to last update new update has ruined it now app is constantly asking for a password and playback crashing
I just got the cam and then I soo this one great and one bad review... Looking forward to use this but I have a feeling I should just return it...

We are using the Steinel cam light. The design of the lamp is great but the app needs some serious improvements!! 1: It is annoying to check the timeline for events. Based on the sensor activation, an overview with screenshots would be great to quickly check what happened on that day. If you click on the screenshot you should be able to see te video of that moment. 2: If the app is installed on multiple devices, the settings are not transferred to all devices.
