The user interface is a catastrophe, please keep it simple. You are sacrificing the user experience for a fancy-look. It's very frustrating to read "simplifying the UX" in the "What's new" when it's actually all the contrary! Also I don't like the app because you mix different types of information in the screens, it's messy. Also the animations (panel resizing, map moving) are boring.
It is not clearly depicted in the vertical line (on the left side) where metro/tram/bus is located in real-time. There are some signs on the vertical line say that for instance metro is coming in 3' which is not really helpful. If you can follow the way of previous version with red dots would be really helpful. Thanks for the update.
The old app wasn't great but as someone who has lived in Brussels for a while and knows which bus/tram/metro he needs to take it did what it was supposed to do. This new app is giving too many choices, I don't want to create an account, I just want to check the bus/tram/metro lines. it would be nice if you could turn off all the superfluous bits and just have the lines displayed. Although having the disruptions show is nice.
Big improvement over the previous app, but rediculous that it is required to create an account in order to save stations and stops as favourites. I dont need to sync favourites and an account provides me no benefit, only privacy risks if unauthorised access is retrieved. Moreover, the notification to users (when trying to save a favourite) is not informative (it says only 'currently not possible, try again later'). It is nice that itiniaries have the 'fastest', 'less walking' and 'less connections' option, but 'Departure' date & time selection is missing the 'now' option. Navigating away from the itiniary screen is a bit odd (you have to go through the destination search page again).
The application does allow you to find best route options, however it only provides two closest ones. It would be great to have a possibility to see more than just two (earlier/ later time, without the need to change the time directly). Also it would be great to have the tickets available straight away on your card once you buy them through the application.
I'm sorry, it's clear that Stib/Mivb are trying hard, but this app is really not good enough. The map looks neat until you realize the stops aren't labeled and you can't tap them to find out directly when the next bus comes, which would be by far the most obvious and intuitive thing to design. Also, disruption info is completely useless if the deviation doesn't appear on the map and you don't know every last stop's name by heart. Still no reason to use this app, the unofficial ones are better.
No timetables for night buses available. You also can't simulate a route for night buses since there is no data available. It should be easy to just provide some simple timetable sheets for every stop and line. Do you expect me to go to the station and take a picture of the timetables. In fact, this might be more efficient than using this app.
The app is never updated on the times the buses, trams or metros are supposed to arrive! The app is never updated to mention if there is a deviation in the route. Example: the app stated my metro arrives in 9 minutes. At the station the panel stated that the metro arrives in 1 minute. The app is a very slow and insufficient at times just like the STIB public transportation system.
After creating an account, checking all the possible options in the settings, adding favourites and giving a lot of information, the app doesn't offer me an easy way to find what one ahould expect to find. I used other apps for public transport in other EU countries and all of them were way easier than this one. Really terrible, just making it harder than it already is public transport in Brussels.
New app looks like a big improvement, but why won't it let me sign up with Facebook?? EDIT: the account I created was deleted after a few days (along with my favourites), because I never received the email to validate it (and no, it's not in spam and yes, the address WAS correct). Some friendly email exchanges with the developers but no solution in sight. What a pity STIB - so near and yet so far.
I've never received the confirmation email from the app and it's constantly asking me to confirm my email address otherwise my account will be deleted... There is nowhere to ask to resend the email or check my email address. The "report a problem" link sends me to a complaint form regarding problems on the transportation network not the app... Not impressed so far. Edit : Thanks for the answer but my email was entered correctly, I tried re-creating a new account with the same email address and it said "An account has already been created with this email address". I will send an email. Besides, there's nowhere to change your email address if you ever need to, the UI is chaotic with the constant huge message of "you have not activated the smart assistant", yes thanks, I know, no need for a constant reminder. Still not impressed.
I see one clear problem with this app that when I use this app with free WiFi in Metro station then it do not show Tram/Metro/Bus position/tracker anymore. I must have to enable 4G connection to see those tracker live positions of metro/tram/bus. Otherwise app is ok and it has evolve with time, just need some fine tuning to make it better.
Tech savvy app. But too complicated for simple and fast use. Asks too much private data. Old app was just perfect for a quick look on real timings. Missed the Metro a few times now just trying to get to real times. Everything new is challenging, but this was somehow unnecessary. Thanks.
The app became more worthless than the Belgian government. It won't display the simplest tasks (transport lines, timetables, map, basic choise of "tram" "bus" "metro"). Even when you turn on your mobile data, the app will display the "no data available" screen. I tried going back and forth, because sometimes poorly made apps need to refresh, however even that didn't help. But hey, at least now we can make useless accounts for this useless app. Srsly, Google maps works better than this pos app
Sometimes simple and functional is better. Old app was perfect and easy to navigate. This one takes some getting used too. I miss mostly that the app when opened doesnt keep my phone awake, which was the case with the old app. Was ever so handy in the morning for the realtime function.
This app is full of unnecessary tabs options, data. It is difficult to find information I need - I have to click on so many places, and when I finally find info it is not visually easy to understand. The old very basic app was much more useful for me.Is it be possible to have the option to install a super simple version of this app, without all additional options and tabs?something that would look like the signs in the metro station showing where the train is, visible without scrolling
The app is very good and intuitive. It has features which I was expecting from days. Itenerary search giving option more than STIB transport is awesome. I seen brail, delijn are also included for inside or outside of Brussels. The line and lines details give perfect information along side if I want to see the stop and stop details I get to know more about parallel lines. The thermometer is very cool feature to slide left to see other lines. Indeed create user with Facebook social is very handy with one or two taps. I got the confirmation of email instantly. App also shows nearby option based on geolocation allows me to seentge front screen to take my tram from work to home. Favourite is handy again and it allowed me to tap to generate how to go home . Step by step helped to go to the place accurately. On the whole it's a one stop shop for complete transport. I see the app is really nice and very good effort by STIB. Thank you for making life easy.
Account creation necessary, access to contacts and calendar... while all of these can be disabled, they aren't what one would want to have for a damn transportation information app. STIB-MIVB, you guys are going too far with this one. I'm switching to the "Brussels Transport" app that seems to respect its users a lot more. I've read a lot of your comments already. No need to answer me with the usual PR speech.
Horrible app. Way more data hungry, slower and unnecessary complexity. Also very intrusive. This app is so bad compared to the old one, I recommand you to look at the tramway time shedules directement on the STIB site via an internet browser such as Chrome or Firefox. You will spare mobile data, time and more of your privacy.
Missing the real-time display to check for problems on the line and plan yourself. (Especially useful during union activities) Sometimes illogical routes like going from crossing boulevard Pacheco / botanique to walk up to stop botanique wait 12 minutes for a bus to rogier to transfer to tram. Walking or even metro would have made more sense. Needs some more work to deserve five stars.
The new app is frustrating to use. No, I do not want to geolocate my phone, no I don't want this app access to my contacts. There needs to be an option for a simple view mode, like the old app which was easier to use. The new app seems, touristy
The old app was so much better because it actually worked. 5 attempts to set up an account, multiple requests to validate (it was already validated).. Can't save any favourite stops. Making the same mistake as so many other platforms. A million functions but the basics don't work.
There is no widget where you can quickly choose between your favourite stop-line combinations like in the old app. You lose a lot of time with opening the app, loading the right information, way too slow for your good and quick services!
Very good, and useful. It would be immensely useful to be able to update the suggested routes. When it show the route for "now" there is no obvious way to update what the app thinks "now" is. Also, it uses quite a lot of data, over 250 mb for just one weekend for me. Is this expected? Remerci
The new iteration of the app is definitely a huge improvement on the last one. The addition of being able to get a list of favourites/most used definitely gives it a huge boost in ease of use. Thumbs up to the development team for a job seriously well done!
My first impression was good! All the functionality that I wanted seem to be implemented. I will see how it evolves while using the app. Nonetheless I found a first annoying bug : it is impossible to select a favorite station.
Everytime I open the app, I get a big white screen that forces a reboot of my phone. Useless app. I was able to search something once into the app and found that the previous ine was slightly better. Bad app. Google map really does a better job.
The app lacks the usability of the old app, therefore I switched to the old one. To be precise, even though I can still define favorite lines, the time it takes to open, load and switch to them is longer. Also, switching between the different sections (itinerary, lines, favorites,..) is not possible with swiping left/right. Also there is some loading time every time you switch to it which is longer than before and while waiting you don't see the old values. Lastly, I think that the 3D map is not that important to be at the front and top.
