Stop and Frisk Watch
Stop and Frisk Watch is available in English and Spanish. Initially available for Android phones, an iPhone version will be released later this summer. The app allows bystanders to fully document stop-and-frisk encounters and alert community members when a street stop is in progress. It has three primary functions:
• Record: This allows the user to film an incident with audio by simply pushing a trigger on the phone’s frame. Shaking the phone stops the filming. When filming stops, the user immediately receives a brief survey allowing them to provide details about the incident. The video and survey will go to the NYCLU, which will use the information to shed light on the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk practices and hold the Department accountable for its actions.
• Listen: This function alerts the user when people in their vicinity are being stopped by the police. When other app users in the area trigger Stop and Frisk Watch, the user receives a message reporting where the police stop is happening. This feature is especially useful for community groups who monitor police activity.
• Report: This prompts the survey, allowing users to report a police interaction they saw or experienced, even if they didn’t film it.
The app includes a “Know Your Rights” section that instructs people about their rights when confronted by police and their right to film police activity in public.
Stop and Frisk Watch is intended for use by people witnessing a police encounter, not by individuals who are the subject of a police stop.
***To uninstall be sure to uncheck "Lock Screen on Trigger" under the app’s “My Settings” tab. You will then be able to uninstall by accessing your phone’s application settings.

If you enabled the auto-screen lock option in this app you will not be able to uninstall without first revoking administration rights to the app.
Apps like this will contribute to gathering real data. Next step is to arrest and prosecute officers that break the law!

Everyone needs an app like this. Just wish it would automatically send a copy to your email address and a clear back up. And what are all the bad reviews always from Google user
Never had any legal problems, and hopefully I won't need this ever, but I have a newborn so I'm not taking any chances
This is a wonderful idea and should deter wrongful conduct and misuse of police force
It looks like nationwide ACLU has these Apps. through state affiliates, with not much difference other then skin and which server they connect to. But NY's is v1.05 and 3 yrs old. CA's is up to 1.1 and updated 3 times this month.

I changed my rating from 5stars to 1 star because mpl-antispy says this spies on my contacts, phone calls, browser history, etc! WHAT THE HELL!? !!?!! I'm just shocked why ruin a great idea like this? EXPLAIN.

Don't get this! It's spam! They take your info. Very bad, and u can't uninstall it. Crap had to reset my phone to get rid of.

Had to install and open to read the terms of agreement, anything recorded is not your property and goes straight to the rights of nyclu. You cannot download it to your phone, social media or any other device other than this application. And now it will not uninstall -_-
3 stars for the idea! As its said, when no one is watching, the police are apt to misbehave. But my motion sensor seems to be too sensitive, auto kills as soon as I record, and theres no option to turn off 'shake to kill' 5 stars when they fix that lol
Folks, use your Google machines and do a little research before complaining about permissions. How could this app work WITHOUT upload and contact permissions? Do you think it can send little paper airplanes with your video and phone number to the law professionals who review it? Knowledge is power, so try educating yourselves. To the others complaining about slowing down phone: since you obviously are reviewing for the NYPD, ask them for a new phone...
