Storm Shield

Severe weather alerts for your exact location. Storm Shield Weather Radio gives you storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storm seasons and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification.
Storm-based or polygon alerts help reduce false alarms by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. Most other apps and sources still use county-based alerts (meaning you'd get an alert even if your location in the county is not within the threatened area).

What people are saying:
* Storm Shield "alerted our family of the Broken Arrow, OK tornado, faster than the TV and tornado sirens."
- Robyn, Broken Arrow, OK resident

* "I was in Oklahoma City during the tornado... we were right in its path. Your app literally was a life saver."
- dcalk12

Additional features include:
* Get NOAA alerts no matter where you are in the United States.

* See Hurricane and Tropical Storm forecast tracks from the National Weather Service (NWC).

* See where NOAA watches and warnings are issued by switching between map overlays.

* Save five additional locations to make sure friends and family at home, work, or out of state stay safe.

* Voice alerts can wake you in the middle of the night or give you information when you can't stop to look at your phone.

* School Closings for Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Tulsa.

* Watch live video streams when available (usually during local coverage of severe weather in Scripps TV markets, listed below. Due to compatibility issues in older version of the Android OS, Live Video is only available for Android 4.0 and above.)

* Current Conditions, 7-Day Forecast, and Hourly Forecasts

* View weather photos and submit your own weather photos (available for Scripps television and newspaper markets).

* Share a view of your map screen to let friends and family know where severe weather is happening, especially if it affects their location.

Battery tips:
* Storm Shield is designed to make a negligible impact on your battery.

* Turn off Location Tracking and instead set one of your five locations to where you are most often.

* You can throttle up or down Storm Shield's Location Tracking to balance location accuracy and battery life.

I paid for this app years ago. Bought a new phone with more storage and am able to re-download all my apps I had to uninstall due to insufficient storage space. Now, I have to pay a monthly fee just to have access to the same features I already paid for many years ago. Can't even access the lightning feature. That's absolutely ridiculous. This used to be a great app. I refuse to pay again (& monthly at that) for something I already did years ago. Lost a subscriber now. So disappointing!

This app has an alert that loudly announces any severe weather alert. The problem is that you cannot turn this feature off or even select which alerts for this app to announce. As a result my wife and I have been woken up many times in the middle of the night by my phone announcing that there is a "high winds" alert. Not a tornado mind you but gusts of winds that might make driving difficult for high profile vehicles. Wow, thanks for waking me up to save my life at 4am because - wind.

Uodate. Did not see the premium button this time. We'll see. I cannot get past the $1.99 'free' trial bundle. I tried on the first device thinking it was telling me what I could get and I would have an option to actually decline when I set up my profile but didn't ever see one. I will not use the app and am uninstalling. I better not see a charge on my bill. Sorry Leland, you are a good salesman but it is a con job they have you doing.

The radar is usually out of date, and the notifications use the ringtone volume. So if you're like me and leave the ringer I and the notifications muted you will be woken up by it SCREAMING through your Bluetooth in the middle of the night. Oh and you can't blanket "notification without sound". You need to go through EVERY POSSIBLE ALERT to do that.

really need to simplify the interface. you have to set every single alert, individually, and pick an alert sound and style for every one... takes forever to setup. give us a general "level" (extreme, severe, etc.) of alert... and an option to have a global sound/ and option to override do not disturb and I'll consider it again. but I don't have hours to setup each individual alert.... Scripps does great with news and weather but this app doesn't reflect that.

Really appreciated all the flood warnings we got during the Spring and Summer of 2019! Also appreciate all the other warnings and weather updates! The only thing I didn't appreciate was being charged twice when I first downloaded it! I had to delete it because of phone problems, it charged me again to redownload it! I figured the charge would probably drop off, but it did not! Kathy Ozenbaugh

Great radar, very accurate and doesnt take any time to load at all!! Very broad range of alerts you can turn on and off at will, plenty of customization. There are in app purchases, none of which I have bought yet, but they are affordable, 99ยข per month for premium weather. Overall highly recommend if you like weather

Not happy at all !! I had the free version for a short bit but sense we get alot of storms in my area I wanted to get the upgraded version which you have to pay for, well the paid version never works right and i used to get lightning alerts at the very beginning which is why I wanted the app but that stopped soon after buying the paid version, I already tried uninstalling and re installing the app many many times and still does the same thing.

Dear developers... I used to love this app! I'm in Denver, it is stopped giving audible alerts, even tornado warnings, severe t-storm warnings even though I could get them on NOAA Weather Radio, hear them live in person, not on my phone. Graphically yes, but that's not helpful if I'm asleep. I just uninstalled it. It won't Auto renew next year, will it? I'm afraid I need to move to a different app.

I understand it's an alert system, but do you really have to keep sending alerts for a winter storm days away at 2:30am? I looked in the settings, can turn off notifications no problem, but why can't you make it available to mute certain block hours if I choose to? 2 nights in row, poor sleep and really poor timing on the alert starting days ahead of time!

Minimal features for free, but very much appreciate the storm alerts. They're audible & spoken aloud, which is sometimes the only way I would know of an immediate severe weather warning. Highly recommend this! Thank you!

I also paid $4.99 for this app a few years ago. With that subscription purchase, it allowed me to at least loop future radar. Now, they want me to pay a monthly subscription for something I already paid for. Justify it as you wish, but I'm disappointed that you've taken away what people have already paid you for. I understand paying for NEW things, just not taking away features already paid for.

Being woken up at 3am for a small accumulation of snow alert made me uninstall this app. I didn't feel like going through all the 100 or so possible alerts individually and changing their settings. The default alert sound makes you jump out of your socks. Unless it's an impending tornado coming for me, I don't need that level of warning.
