It's a great alternative to Blinkist and a way for non readers to slowly get into reading and expanding their knowledge. The biggest drawback? The app won't stay open for more than a few sentences before it crashes. It's happened constantly since getting the free trial. Unfortunately this will be the reason I cancel today and not become a paying customer. Disappointing.
So far so good but please keep adding more and more content. Request for a feature: please let the app run in the background - if I am listening to something but had check an email or a message, I lose the story i was listening to when I exit the app to check my messages. Please fix this. Thank you.
StoryShots is comparatively a decent app, contains a bunch of valuable summaries, but some sound like just book-descriptions. I wish the quality of the summaries were uniformly structured, and some summaries wouldn't give the feeling of just wasting time on reading random book overviews. There is a serious need of quality check out.
Beautiful concept. I have tried almost all and have installed 4-5 apps like this on my phone, that summaries good books into distilled bullet points. This is among my top 3. Great presentation and UI. The famous titles are covered, I wish it had a little more extensive collection of lesser known ones as well.
It's ridiculous that you lost your highlights if you uninstall the application and install it again in a new smartphone. Furthermore, try to standardize the content on you website with the content in the app since sometimes there is a difference.
Good but there is room for improvement! I would prefer to have a 4-6 page written summary of the book which could be downloaded vita PDF! Not just mind mapping! Mind mapping works if you read something thoroughly an you already know the stuff! This doesn't work with audiobook summaries. Retention rate is aroumd 30% via audio. Plus it's a summary note even the whole book!
This app is amazing If you want book summary either before buying a book or after you have read the book. There are several different options to choose for the summary. The paid plan is extremely pocket friendly and the content you get are great. Highly recommend by me.
Good but not best ! I already paid for premium but still feel like it's not as good as Blinkist ! Integration with Google translate will be the best ❤️
The ads in the free version make the app nearly useless. They pop up over what you are reading, with no way to decline it ignore them. You must exit the ad, which exits the summary you are reading, then start over and find your place again. This is maddening!
StoryShots is so far the best book summary apps I have come across. Nice selection, attractive layout, well thought-of options to use the content. I especially appreciate the premium service (no ads, extended use options, access to all content, lifelong membership).
The content selection isn't good. Additionally, the fact that I'm having such a hard time finding female authors is awful. Otherwise, the app itself is great. Be more open-minded with the content selection and include more diverse authors, and it'll be off to a good start.
Exceptional value! The summaries are excellent, both in audio and written form. On top of that, you also get nicely done video summaries. StoryShots offers great content for free and even better at the premium level. If you can, please support this great initiative.
I just downloaded your app and it's very good . Compared to other apps in the same genere the pricing is good . Even the one time purchase is affordable . The materials and the text is of high quality . Will keep using it and i recomend it for everyone who wants to improve their knowledge
The adverts are very annoying and intrusive. An add will pop up while you're trying to read a book, multiple times. Each add makes you clock through 3 or 4 different pages / ads. Some of them make you watch an as for 5 seconds before you can close it. But what's most annoying is once you finally get rid of the ad, the app doesn't remember where you were up to and sends you back to the start of the book.
There are many books in here that I've personally read, and these summaries hit the major points, minus the "fluff" you typically find in books which is usually lots of repeating. This isn't necessarily a bad thing when it's used to get points to stick. This is a great option if you don't like reading, or if you're like me and have a growing list. Ads are not intrusive, but definitely necessary to offer free access. I recommend this to everyone. Develop your mind and your way of thinking.
I really love it, it helps me identify which books Worth Reading and worth spending more of my time. And also I see the books in different light and in different perspective.
Should you add more full ebooks and give the access to send full ebooks to kindle & add books in hindi language with audiobooks, I'm one of your lifetim premium subscriber.
After several weeks using free, I decided to pay approx $8 for a year so that I can remove ads and have more fruitful details. To be honest, I like Blinkist more but it is way more expensive. Good work StoryShots!
As an avid reader I was skeptical that excerpts would have much value. But I have been pleasantly surprised. The summaries are well done. They have value in themselves and introduce you to books you might want to read in full.
I was going to buy the lifetime for 850. Why does price suddenly climbed up to 3700, I don't have the much money cuz I m a student, can you plz brink the previous offer back, or atleast add a timer to indicate how long the 80% offer lasts the next time it comes, Anticipating your reply soon, and lastly and more importantly,Thanks for your hard work Devs, you are doing a wonderful job! Please stop describing. For exemple, in the "Pitch Everything" book by Oren Klaff it is written: "Oren Klaff outlines that a great pitch is never about the procedure". It's childish and sooo annoying. Just say "A great pitch is never about the procedure". Stop writing like a child's essay. Don't write "X says, X does" etc. Just write the essence. Nobody needs the extra noise. Talk to me on this subject and I will change my rating. EDIT: Updated as the developer took notice of my request. Thanks.
A must have for anyone who wants to read all the good books but simply wants to get the good parts without going through all of if. Essentially the main message of any non-fiction non-technical book can be summarised in a few pages. But no one finds that interesting, or practical for publishing. Here comes storyshots. Way better than what blinkist does. It also contains audiobooks and the full version of the books if you are so inclined. I got the annual subscription within a week. So Worth it.
I love this app. If you have always wanted to read more but can't find the time then this is for you. So many books can be condensed into just a few ideas. The rest is just padding. This app gets rid of the padding so you can whizz through books (or the ideas in them) really fast. (Edit: thanks to the developers for fixing the problem with video playback)
I love this app because it is probably one of the only summary apps that let's you change playback speed. However, I find that not all of the summaries are high quality. Sometimes the "summary" is just an intro to the book and after listening I feel like I haven't learned anything. Also, it would be great if there was a feature to show how long each summary is.
Best audio book app I have ever seen... I'm planning to get monthly subscription. It just awesome to calm yourself by listening best audiobooks when you are in chaotic situation. But I want to add that if they add a feature to vote for books for free.
