Good app, but there is some missing functionality that I feel is pretty essential. For example, being able to add a filter based on commute time would really be great for this app! Sometimes selecting a room count in the filter screen has some unexpected behavior.
So far it's good. Except for I keep getting the same apartments to view. Even though it says a different number. I think it's not the app! It's my phone, I know that there professional people and are here to help. I think you so far.
Sigh in does not work, just keeps saying that the login or password has changed sign in again. I am signing in with my Google account, not login and password.
It works, and it seems like the listings are updated routinely. But, compared to other apps (zillow) it's very annoying that you can't get a detailed map view of all of the listings in a search. It's all so annoying that there is no indication on the map view that you've already looked at a property (the icons in zillow go from red to grey once a property is viewed). So compared to zillow, the navigation is more complicated and wastes time. Also, there are way too many notifications.
App is okay. Not great. A little confusing, can be difficult to tell what is happening with pics, floor plans impossible to discern from ths limited pics. Despite professing they will not tolerate deceptive posts, there are too many instances of the same images being on the profiles of different places. That being said, it's good to be able to follow up on updates very quickly, and it is helpful in searches in general. It just falls into the usual for mobile apps. It's good, but not good enough
So far so good. I an still learning how to navigate through my phone, but this app allows me to save my searches, and save properties I want to go back to later. Nothing beats the street view. You must have a visual tour of a few blocks around your potential new home. Then when you narrow your search, you can see if maps have been updated. Filters sometimes knock out potential qualified properties. I have pets and some saying no pets have come through. Frustrating.
In general, streeteasy is great. The best apartment hunting app for NYC (and now NJ). I bumped off a star because the app is sometimes buggy. Some bugs have been fixed, but right now, I'm unable to log in to my profile (which I like to use because it gives me commute time from my place of work to potential apartment). That's one of my favorite features of this app, would be 5 stars if it was fixed! I still highly recommend.
Update notifications are useless. Hard to see what changed in the listings you follow. I saved some searches and favorited some listings. I get app notifications all the time saying there are updates to one of my searches. But it doesn't tell me what changed. I'd go check my saved searches to see either "updates" or "all caught up" but either I can't tell what actually changed. Listings also show the latest change as "updated" so that's misleading because that could have been a month ago.
I can login just fine on the website but not the mobile app. Login Error: The email or password previously entered has changed. Sign in again to sync your searches and saved listings.
Generally decent app, the apartment info is only as good as the person listing it. For the app though, I find the filtering options to be a little unintuitive. Bedroom count is in the main search but bathroom count is a filter for example. Plus I have an issue where when scrolling up/down, the screen spasms until I stop scrolling. Galaxy note 20 ultra.
Nice app, but totally worthless if you are looking for a legitimate apartment to rent. Contacted 5 apartment rentals and none of the apartments were those I applied for. Some wanted a credit check before I can see the apartment. Most of them emailed back, but then never heard from them again. Most of the ads are the same as on Craigslist. Give it 3 stars for app design and navigation ease. 0 stars for usefulness.
very frustrating that it does not seem to honor the notifications I set. I want ONE email notification a day on new properties, and this morning I woke up to find SIX in my mailbox. I have Revisited the settings page several times to make sure the arrow is not on my side, and it is not.
Good app, good website, but I'm removing it today after receiving a notification that lead to a blog post. These notifications come around every so often, and it's annoying. Their sole notification setting is for receiving updates on your saved searches, and nothing else. I consider excess notifications tantamount to spam, so goodbye, StreetEasy.
Enjoy the app so much on my iPhone but like other reviewers have mentioned, the android version map functionality you can pretty much ignore as clicking on one listing automatically jumps the map view to a listing in another view.
Apartments disappear as if rented just to reappear a week later, i guess to be on top of the list. Realtors don't get back to you and pictures are not accurate.
really easy app to use and has connected me with agents.a good starting point for the dizzying experience that is the new york rental market. I do wish there was a way for users to manually(custom) rearrange my saved listings to drag ones I'm most interested in to the top so I can prioritize them based on my level of interest, or who I have contacted already, or which ones I've already scheduled for viewing, etc. It would help users keep listings organized more easily.
Unusable when searching for an apartment using the map. Clicking on a listing opens the wrong listing making it impossible to open the correct listing.
This app isn't that good the brokers and and getting the reply back is sometimes pulling teeth because they ask you all these questions which is protocol of course and have to broker this don't even get back to you at all to be honest which I will give this up a zero
The most intuitive ap for rental searching that I've used. The filters are useful, and love the feature is picking the trains you need to live by. my only complaint is that I can't figure out how to turn notifications off and I get a lot of them!
Somehow got worse. The search on map function takes you to a different apt than the one you selected.
There is no way to delete past searches or control what searches get emailed to you so every search gets saved and emailed. It's a very aggravating. It's a very loose and lazy functioning app. They really don't allow the true control of the content.
Works well for it's needs. You've got to learn how to use it though - for example, the app does not tell you that you can contact an agent directly on their phone by clicking "contact" in the app which surfaces their phone number. Direct calling is the best way in NYC.
