String of Words

Fortunately, I'm a Play Pass subscriber so I can have unlimited hints. Otherwise, some of the clues and word combos are misleading or make no sense and I would never have guessed the correct word without spending coins for hints. Some require regional knowledge or are so vague that you need to get the previous words to help. Most of the puzzles are fun, but the others can be frustrating.

A different type of word puzzle from most others, which is refreshing. Some of the word pairs are more US-oriented, which require a lot of hints if you aren't familiar with the place or turn of phrase. That got too frustrating for me after a while.

So far - so good. Just started playing, and as I hoped... the game is as remembered. The Difficulty Level is pretty much what I would require - a bit easy, but it's perfect for me to get used to. I'm enjoying so far & may raise to more Stars in future. ~ E. Newkirk, 5/24/22

Terrible app, it repeats itself, they delete the bad reviews, I've left so many, just trying to warn people it's a waste of time, you want to make it to chapter 2? Surprise! It's chapter one all over again, every single puzzle

Hard game. Some of the clues don't make any sense, but most of them do. Tons of levels to go through and very few ads. Probably the hardest word problem type of game app I've played.

Poorly suited for PlayPass. If you run out of coins for hints you just have to wait for more. There should be free refills to replace in-app purchases or ads.

THESE ARE NOT American references for hints. I read a lot of reviews that think that the hints are Americanized. They are not. The hints are just nonsense. For example I had Stop _____ and ______ open. My hint for _____ was "a temporary fix" on the leading word and "let the light in" for open. The missing word was gap. A gap is a temporary fix? Who has ever heard of gapping open a door? So basically all the words in the puzzle make sense in but one. That's how they make $$$. Not fun!!!

I love the premise of the game. The app design is ok. I'm not a fan of the in app keyboard. The letters are small which causes frequent typos and it lags a little causing letters to be left out. My biggest issue is that some of the clues and corresponding solutions are pretty abstract. Like the clue "uses crayons" for the solution "color book". I've come across multiple clues and solutions like this. Could be a 5 star game otherwise.

Pros: If you are looking for a challenge, this is the game for you. The clues are a mix of easy and difficult. It will certainly make you think. Some of the later levels are easier than the first level. Cons: Many of the clues are only loosely related to the answer (clue: "bird house" does not make me think "eagle nest") and you mostly need to complete the clues in order. At times, there is a lot of guesswork and similar clues ("a-one" and "a-one performance") have nothing in common.

This game is absolutely aggrevating. It's great that it is absolutely 100% free, but then there isn't any way to purchase more coins for hints. You can't get coins for levels you beat either. If you are stuck, you are done with the game, can't go any further & that is the most irritating thing. I tried the contact & got absolutely no where. It brings you to another page to share. The clues aren't very good either. It would be a great game otherwise.

Update: With the no ads premium, this is a go-to word game for new. The game is absent minded fun that is great for winding down before bed; (this no longer applies): however, because there is an ad in between each and every level, and there is no option to pay for "No ads," it is actuality to frustrating to play. - Thanks for the reply and update devs!

One of my favorite word games. Occasionally leads to seek information elsewhere which makes it interesting and enjoyable. The down side, which I asume is purposefully designed, is that clues are limited to either completing five sections or waiting out the timer to get a few more points for clues. This is frequently bothersome as far as game interruptions are concerned. Overall, however, well designed game with no glitches.

VERY American words, items and phrases that I've never heard of - I'm in Australia. Uninstalling as I can't even guess things I have never heard of. I like the cryptic clues as most games are too easy. It is a great game, minimal ads, just needs to have worldwide questions and spelling based on country choice. Would definitely play if it was suited to everyone around the world. Samsung Note stylus works which is. I actually like the keyboard. The layout and design are good.

Good (if not overdone) concept, nice layout, but extremely difficult as the "phrases"...aren't really common sayings. None of them were common or intuitive. I am usually pretty good at these types of games, but I had to use all of my hints on the first 5 puzzles and when I tried to watch an ad to get more it just... doesn't work. I am on Google Play Pass so that may be a conflict with that as that version is "ad free" but there is no other way to get hints (I assume without paying).

I lost all my progress when I didn't play for a while. So I am back at the begining & ALL OF MY IN APP PURCHASES ARE GONE, totaling $60 - $80 or more. I AM SO PISSED OFF NOW. Most likely deleting App, what do I have to loose now! (Original Post)... This game has been in my phone's since the beginning of smartphones. I used to play it all the time. When you get way up there the levels get very hard. I believe there is a cheat sheet on the web somewhere!

In all honesty this game isn't much of a challenge. The biggest disappointment is that there aren't enough levels, book one has 200 total while books 2-4 have 50 a piece. I managed to get through 90% of the levels in a single work day so it's a bit of a letdown. The biggest problem is odd phraseology in certain clues that make no sense in relation to the answer.

Not sure what locale this is intended for but the phrases are off and don't make sense ¾ of the time. A lot of words are recycled and used again. The difficulty from level to level is inconsistent. I tried to play through the hiccups but the frustration ruins it. The hints and phrases are bunk. More like String of Nonsensical Words.

Good concept but some flaws I can't get past. Extremely difficult to use the built in keyboard. On more than one occasion I've guessed the word correctly, have it tell me I was wrong, then used a hint to see my mistake. Turns out it was right all along, just buggy.

Wakes your brain up. Not simple. From the very beginning it makes you pay attention.. So if you are looking for a challenge try it here.

Challenging. Good way to exercise brain and to pass the time. And different from all the other clone$ word games. Thanx.

I was really enjoying this game. I found it just challenging enough to hold my interest an not be irritatingly difficult. Then one day it stopped giving me the bonus points for completing a chapter. Then it started repeating games. So I'm stuck repeating the same chapter of games over and over. Despite completing them all successfully. Uninstaller it.

Too many vague clues that make no sense once you finally see what the answer is. This game is designed to get you to use up coins for hints and I say this as someone who's has the play pass which allows me to get unlimited coins. I don't mind a challenge but when the challenge is at nearly impossible levels, it isn't fun anymore.

I was loving this game until it came to book #2. I've played 30 games and still can't unlock it. I emailed the company twice, and no word yet. Fun game until you play book #1 three times.

I would give it 5 stars because the game is actually fun but could be better if the player was able to progress to the puzzle once a certain number of words were solved in the previous sets...even though not completely solved..., if the coin chest time was shorter, and if there was a way to earn more coins during the chapters or puzzles.

I wanted to like this but a lot of the phrases are backwards, not common, or just plain wrong. This makes the game incredibly frustrating. Nice presentation and feel though. Too bad the actual content doesn't match.

Not particularly challenging. Some of the answers seem a bit forced, if not entirely irrelevant to the given clue. I was bored with the premise after a handful of puzzles.

This game makes you think, I like how it makes phases connect.I don't like how it takes your coins when you leave it and come back.

Probably easier if you're American or remember to use the American versions of words.

Updating my review. Originally 2 stars due to odd phrasing of many of the answers. But after several more tries, it's making sense. I just needed to be patient.
