Excellent real strobe tuner. Sitting side by side with my Peterson VS-II, with an acoustic guitar it locks on quicker and holds longer. It would be great to have the note it locks on to (or that is selected) light up on the keyboard, as well as Auto Detect light up when it's selected. The only real problem is the type in the middle of the wheel and around the wheel is too small to be legible, other than that this is a great app.
I play a half stack and just prop it up on top of my amp head. It works superbly. Totally accurate. I use it on auto detect and it is perfect. No brainer. The one thing you need to remember is the app does not "time out", so you need to remember to turn it off if you don't want it on. Very pleased. Get it. You will love it.
It's really easy to quickly tune my bass or guitar accurately. This seems to be the most stable, and accurate tester I've tried. The note autodetection isn't perfect, but he just added settings for bass/guitar so it's a simple button press for each string. Get this tuner. It's great.
I have tuned pianos proffessionally for over 25 years. My Peterson 490ST strobe tuner conked out on me and I decided to try this one. It worked very well on all but the highest octave. I agree that a tone would be very useful. Also would like to see several stretch presets like peterson has.
I was VERY skeptical about an app on my phone even coming close to being as accurate as the latest, greatest digital tuners for my guitars. I was SHOCKED after tuning with the strobe, then clamping on my spendy digital tuners, and my guitar was tuned PRECISELY, according to both my Sabine and Korg tuners. I could even HEAR the difference. I've been playing for 45yrs and as I said, I was shocked, but also very pleased. Great app man. Great app. I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. Thanks
Surely a demanding target audience, 4 my part it's just a little something extra to have around, and I can tell that it does function and even more so than I as yet fully understand. smart item
Just stumbled on this looking for a decent tuner app. A strobe tuner? Had know idea it would be this good. I did find with the ap on my phone I had to put it right in front of the amp for the app to get a decent level and keep the display up. Then again, that may just be because it's totally free. Even so, I was so impressed I did the intonation on 3 of my guitars in one go. great results. Thanks
than the expensive Peterson app. Still not as feature rich as, say, gStrings, but probably the best strobe tuner app. No tuner app can change your mic and phone's high pass filter to magically hear low frequencies, but have to rely on harmonic overtones. A strobe tuner can make it easier to compensate manually, as you see the harmonics.
I've used dedicated stroboscopic tuners before and this compares very favorably to them. The 180 Kilobyte-sized program is really quick to get started up and working. I bought the "key" to get rid of ads. I use it to tune my old electronic organ and help me tune my ocarina playing along the "breath curve" - agility/quickness being the key here.
Finally, a strobe tuner for Android that works. (I don't know what the deal is with the big name competitor-- the one we grew up with-- but its Android version doesn't work; I suspect it runs in emulation mode, a poor port of their magnificent iPhone app.) But THIS app is GREAT. It reads the fundamental, and first five harmonics-- indispensable for wind instrument players to ensure proper airstream. Common problems with woodwind airstream pedagogy & equipment choice result in overtones playing flat to the fundamental. A strobe is the one absolutely bulletproof way to diagnose this. It is an indispensable tool in my teaching and performing. And this app is the ONLY Android strobe app that works. Bravo!
This is as good as my Peterson V-Sam. I would recommend this app very highly. This is the best Android tuner that I have tried. Peterson only worship at the alter of iPhone, and are extraordinarily over-priced anyway IMHO. Of course, YMMV...
Since a real strobe tuner costs quite a bit of money, this is a really cool alternative. No bothersome advertisements either! This tuner is so sensitive and flexible enough that I can even use it to tune harmonica reeds. It's great for my 12-string guitar too. Excellent if you want a very sensitive tuner for acoustic instruments or instruments with 'permanent' tunings. There's lots of different adjustments at your fingertips too--you can even change the background color of the wheel! Awesome app!!!
I play the cornet and it only seems to work for guitar and piano. Can u add things like trumpets, and other marching/ concert band instruments please. It would help everyone.
Does the same thing as the $1000 tubers. Same accuracy too. Makes intonating guitar much easier than by hear or typically electronic tuner.
This is a great app you just have to see how it works with your phone anyone who says this is no good just doesn't know what they're doing and you have to remember that with sensitive strobe tuners you can't have any background noise
Three things make this the best tuner app: Its very accurate, works well in noisy environments and can be used with any instrument. Whether you are tuning a guitar, bass or piano strobe tuner works very well.
Very good tuner. My only gripe is the text display in the middle of the circle is TINY. I almost need a magnifying glass. If it weren't for that I'd give it 5 stars.
I play the French horn and I'm always playing out of tune and it's not perfect but works pretty darn well for what it is.
Terrifically useful! Also used it to check turntable speed using a test record with a 1khz tone by resetting A to 1khz. One request.. make the type at the center of the disc a bit larger- very hard to read. Thanks for a great app though!!
Wasn't only looking for a tuner but a tool to help set intonation. This app did the trick.
It is helpful in tuning in noisy environments (and well. phone mics are not great.) and tuning instruments with relatively high harmonics. Horizontal mode would be a plus.
This app is excellent but the size or the note name and frequency needs to be much larger. I also use this when hunting for feedback frequencies on live sound gigs. Screenshots show much larger font than actual app.
A very good strobe tuner. Works well with auto-select pitch or by choosing the pitch--easy to choose an octave once the pitch is assigned.
Works amazingly, and usage is well explained. From a few years of use, I have no complaints. This is the type of tool that once you use, there is no going back.
This is just like the strobo-tuners I grew up with, but a lot cheaper and a lot better. I play multiple woodwinds and it works great for all of them.
For the Peterson Strobotuner HD, but will work in a pinch. Cleartune still has a lot more options, and will generate tones.
Sure the other tuners are easier to use, but spend 2 minutes learning to use a strobe tuner and you won't go back to them.
I use this on my martin guitar and it can get the strings more in tune 1 by 1 than I can by ear. Well worth the convenience, it tries to be alot more accurate than my guitar can even tune. If there was more options for simpler display that is not less accurate just less lines as it tends to be glitchy the way it is, but in no way does it hinder the app at all. Imagine it would be perfect for piano or harp etc.
