For any people looking to play. It is a game you have to spend a great deal of time playing compared to other similar games of it's genre. As to remain competitive you will have to maintain multiple villages.
I posted a review before complaining about extremely small button sizes and the support team replied and I noticed that the UI improved, so kudos to that. So overall, it's a good app to complement the PC version, game is great but it's clearly pay to win so be warned. It's possible to enjoy the game but if you're planning to compete to be in the top house, then you're gonna need to spend a lot, which I don't plan to do and recommend.
I've been a Stronghold fan since childhood. While the app does extremely well using elements from the Stronghold series, it plays too much like a typical mobile game, especially with the microtransactions and wait times. There needs to be better ways to earn cards, decrease waiting times, and earn passive income. It still gets 4 stars for nostalgia factor, and for the few grind options they have to naturally get farther along. I'd still recommend playing, but be warned it's more of an idle game
For mobile gamers. This is a game for actual gamers. Unlike most games free to play is easily managable vs spenders. Research pathing is the most important part of this game. Spending doesnt make you gain heavy advantage, when ftp can get almost as much if they build and research right. Ive been playing this game for yrs. Spenders hit crown prince first month, non spenders can hit that same ammount in 3 months. I have been on both sides . It cost me TONS of honor i dont have to raze non spenders
Great game!! Slow paced if you don't spend any money, but still possible to be competitive without spending. May take awhile to build up cards, but you get free cards, for doing quest, or attacking ai treasure castles, ect. Something in this game for all play styles. Progress from the village idiot to the crowned prince.
I do really enjoy the game. However there appear to be features for the PC version that aren't accessible (maybe I just haven't figured it out, but then that means the controls aren't very intuitive), things like recalling troops that are reinforcing, or even simply forwarding on reports. These are advanced issues, but when they crop up are very annoying.
I wanted to like this game, but on this version after going through the tutorial and spending a while building stuff, I removed it. The tutorial locked up several times, the interface is awkward, like you can't see what's in your queues, and I never could get the strategy cards to work, it just seemed I couldn't get into any rhythm and was lost. It's a shame I really liked the old PC version. *Sigh*
I've loved strongehold for years since I had the grandpa computer, but the wait times are too much. Plus, It would be so much better if we didn't have to select 1 quest at a time. This is the only game I know of that doesn't have all quests activate at once. It makes everything take forever. I love that this game still has the pc graphics I adore! But let us complete quests all together instead of having to select them individually. It turned the perfect masterpiece into a tedious waiting game.
Terrible follow up to the real game. I've played all the computer based stronghold games extensively. This phone based game is terrible. The UI is unresponsive, slow, and inadequate. The graphics are ridiculous and the setup of the overall game is poor. If someone was to play this before the computer based version, I feel they wouldn't even give the PC version a shot. While this would be awesome if properly made, this is a waste of time. Its unfortunate, I hoped for better.
The game is great! to me it is the best concept for a in-depth strategy game, the best players will always be those that spend lots of money but the is many ways to play without money but worth spending a little to get your free card multiplier up! This is the second time I've played it as my wife banned me from it cos I was too addicted and had racked up too many hours, but I've have been given the all clear to play again!!! Haha. so warning it can be very addictive..
It froze on the tutorial, right when you are attacked from the parish. A pitty, this is an awesome game on computer, was hoping to be just as nice on mobile.
Overall experience is pretty high. Played for few days so far. Although there are few disadvantages. 1. First of all is UI which looks terrible. Basically it looks like some test version. Some of icons are too small 2. In-game payments. It's super expensive. Smallest coin package in PLN (Polish zloty) costs 11 PLN! That's crazy price for just 10 coins for which you can buy just 1 normal card pack. 3. Production's etc. should also be displayed as per hour, in the end it's MMObrowser game right?
Something is going on with the mobile app that requires longer then normal loading times. Some of the gameplay for mobile has gotten better but not without a cost in other areas. The most frustrating part isn't the lag, it's when you submit a ticket and write a post on the forum and you hear the crickets. You don't get so much as a question regarding your phone model or operating system. To me this means that the phone app isn't that important to Firefly or they would ask these questions.
The UI and construction interface is not good. Didn't like the graphics. Can't rotate, can't move castle pieces.
This game is all together excellent and well rounded, aswell as fun and utilizes strategy well. But there is one major problem with this game. It's pay-to-win To make any real progress you must consistently pay money in order to purchase premium and purchase cards Premium gives you things like being able to build and research multiple things at once. And generally paying money is the only way to do well because of this
I wish there was no microtransaction nonsense. If you really love the game and the fans who love the game you made, don't put microtransactions in it. It gives players an unfair advantage who can afford to by in game material all the time. There is also no helpful information in finding out how to increase your army size. It's not presented in the frequently asked questions. Also it dosen't look realistic when people walk over object like trees etc. When in reality it should show people walking
As many have said, this game is a disgrace to the Stronghold name. The game is painfully slow paced with the research and building being average time, castle construction reduces the game to a snail's pace. The time it before you can even play the offensive side of the game is over a week and once you get to it, it is quite the let down. To further ruin the experience there is a heavy incentive for microtransactions. TLDR This game does everything wrong and is nothing like the stronghold series.
I played this game back when it was on beta and i loved it, but I stopped since all my efforts were resetted. However, I started playing it back again, and I'm enjoying it. ( My rank is Baron, have 4 villages, and I still haven't been attacked by stronger players... in which it might change my opinion depending on how constant I get attacked or if they use pay to win cards when they do so).
I love the PC Stronghold games. This was a slap in the face when I found out what it really was. All it made me do was get out my laptop and play the real one. You give me a legit version I can use with my S Pen, a bluetooth mouse and some local Wi-Fi matchmaking and I'd pay over $10 for the app. These newer phones have crazy specs and can easily handle something cooler. There are hundreds of games with this format and legit gamers instantly delete them. I love this series, want to see it grow!
Nothing like PC game... I remembered old times when I turned my PC on and played this game till every inch on the map was covered with something and my storage couldn't bare anything anymore... But what a disappointment I got when I installed this game... You get only 3 research points at the time, the rest you can buy with money, that even on very cruel taxes doesn't grow fast enough to buy because the price for one research point increases so rapidly you will eventually give up the whole game.
If your looking for a casual, play as you might game, this is not the game for you. There are credit card players that run the map and race to the finish to collect their prizes. It's a fun game, with lots of things to do, some can manage to stay out of the way while the CC players clear the map of all of the villages you spent months to make. The final age, plan on staying under monk protection (interdict) or be erased, razed by the CC player for no prizes.
I'm actually a returning player...Just downloaded the mobile version...and it's running quite smoothly...I love the detail..Art design is splendid..
great game played it loads. But its stupid how it resets!!! That shouldn't happen. Ever! Just let us play and over take. No end of world times. Im sick of it. But love the game. And yes is a graft and you have to play it a few times for a good while to know how to get a fast and good start without spending real money... iv never spent real money but grafted on this i ended up having 4 villages the most iv ever had but like always the rest messed it up and i stopped playing but here to try again
