StrRemote Pro – for STR-DN1080, 70, 60 receivers
This app is handy if AVR's position is not convenient for use with the standard IR remote - for example if located in a different room or installed in a cabinet. Or you might just prefer using this app instead of the standard IR remote.
Features:

• Option to control main zone volume with hardware volume buttons.

Important:
Your phone/tablet will need to be connected to the same network as the AVR.

Note for the EU model STR-DN1080:
The 'Power On' function requires "Network Standby" to be enabled in the AV Receiver's "Network Settings". This feature is not available on EU models. However currently Sony's Audio Control API allows the enabling of 'Network Standby' on EU model STR-DN1080 receivers. This app merely uses the API provided by Sony. Enabling Network Standby is at your own risk as this feature uses a lot of power (more than 30w for some users) and possibly more heat when on standby, which is higher than current EU regulations allow. There is also no guarantee that this ability will remain in future firmware updates. Enabling Network Standby is at your own risk.

Feel like a have a new AVR with this app. Being able to control speaker and subwoofer levels without going into the AVR is amazing, wish I had this a long time ago.
Glad I opted for a reciever with networking. l use it from my phone & my Chromebook. My favorite feature is the ability to quickly save and select different settings profiles. For example, a one-click switch from heavy bass during the day to a low level at night, then right back up the next day. Quick feedback from the developer is also nice.
Ok so it's quick for changing settings BUT it does not have arrow keys to move around the actual on screen menu. As my unit is tucked away in a cupboard this is annoying. The developer reached out and explained the API for the receiver does not support this, which is why these buttons are missing. Dn1080 setup fine. I wish Sony would add navigation support to the API of the receiver. Top effort
Excellent Replacement for Sony App & Remote Tried the Free version and quickly realised this fits the bill, appreciate the fact it opens up so much more than the Sony App and easy to use, helps to overcome the shortfall of the remote. Would be great if a remote command could be found to toggle the front panel Display info to validate what audio channels are active (Latest Update now flashes OFF on AMP display when opening the app.)
Very good app. Would be nicer if I can select USB source. Often play music from USB drive, but not able to select USB from this app. Also, better to have a dash board showing status of the receiver. Do not know if it is no or off and which source is selected from the app interface.
The auto detect function incorrectly identifies a Sony Wi-Fi speaker on my network as a DN1060, and cannot find my DN1080. So, I had to specify the IP address of my DN1080 in Settings. Now it works. Other than this, it works great! Bravo!
Good app, resolved a lot of issues which I was having at first time use. But since the latest update Iam no Longer able to connect to the Chromecast... Probably not an issue from the app since other apps have the same problem. I don't know, didn't find a good solution yet :-)
This app is fantastic. Works like a charm and is a reasonable price for the pro version with more features. I love having the quick and easy zone 2 volume and control here. Excellent job!
Great app, definitely recommended. Am using on a tablet and it doesn't seem to rotate to landscape mode which is slightly annoying hence 4 stars. UPDATE: developer has updated app to support both orientations - 5⭐

Excellent app, recent update means you have to enter your amps IP address manually, a small gripe but probably better being on a static IP anyway :) developer responded quickly and helped me every way he could even offering a refund. I declined the refund as this truly is a great app if you have a Sony str-dn1080/70/60 amp 👍
Works great with my 1080 so had to buy it. 😊 One little request, if its even possible. The ability to set the sound to mono.
For a few £s or $s this shames Sony for having nothing like it, the option to dave 4 different speaker levels snd 4 diffetent EQs is perect for different times of the day... Well worth the money..it has not failed once in 4 month's
One of my favorite apps! I am likely switching to iOS and this is the only app I care about not available in the app store. I'd definitely offer a donation if this were available on iOS devices!

Funny to say but, it does what it should! A complete remote for my STR1080! I am not clear why Sony doesn't put this out themselves...🤨
Worked awesome on my sony str-dn1080 using pre out to my Carver amp until the latest update. Hopefully they get it working again.
Makes your coexistence with the troubled Sony receiver a lot easier, adds the functionality the engineers at Sony forgot including internet radio!
The ultimate missing tool for my STR DN1080!
This requires a fixed ip address there is no selection for auto. Becaise of this i Cant't get vol up down or mute to work.
Great app if you have a compatible AVR. Definitely preferred over the official Sony app.
Phone can never find unless very close to amp. quite annoying.

Been using this now for just under a year now. Convinent, easy to use, feature rich and does what it says on the tin. My 1080 is tuned in to perfection. I love the presets also. 6stars all round.
