Stud Detector
Stud Detector operates in a similar manner to other hand-held stud detector tools: LED lights light up in sequence with proximity to stud as your device's magnetometer passes over the stud. However, because modern mobile devices do not have density sensors (which are used by real studfinder tools) Stud Detector uses your compass (magnetometer) sensor to detect subtle changes in the background magnetic fields caused by conductive metal fasteners embedded in all studs. Because of the lack of a density sensor, studfinder apps cannot detect wood studs themselves, but rather, detect the metal fasteners embedded within them. Please keep this difference in mind when using Stud Detector.

not surprising, beeps constantly. these apps run off your phones magnometer so.. accuracy isn't really expected
I gave it one star because it wouldn't let me write a review without a star rate. It found a stud when u held a pillow up to it. seriously!!!

I can't say for sure if I'd call this a good app because ads pop over the app screen while I was trying to use it. I can't even say for sure it's not a novelty app (meaning non working but looks cool) but I gave it 3 stars because it lit up green within an inch of the stud, which I found basically by measuring from a window in 16 inch increments. I'll probably uninstall it now but it was fun to try.
I live in a very old tiny Studio Cottage and I was having a difficult time finding the studs to hand a tv wall mount. This app actually found the studs and I was able to hang it with no problem. The ads didn't bother me because everybody in this life needs to get paid somehow. Thanks
It detected motion when you moved the 'phone, failed to detect a radiator!

Well I tried to make it work got the green light found the stud area red lights and all super easy to use, however I am going to uninstall it and not use it because even though you say you have removed ads and you have a remove ad button in the apt that takes you to an area to buy this apt and if you don't buy it you get an ad every time you touch any button on the apt this is unfortunate because it seemed like it was a apt that would work so to save my phone battery and not have to look at ads I will just go to Home depot and buy a stud finder sorry your loss
Horrible just dose not do what it says at all just a gimmick
Not real. When you flipped your phone up, red lights would come on no matter where you were. I tested it in my garage where studs are painted already........no!
What a waste of time.
Zipped a screw through a wire in between two studs. Could not detect wood stud unless there was metal nearby
After reading the comments, I installed other apps which didn't work, just did a bunch of holes on the wall. So I tried this one and it was better I finally found the stud. THIS ONE IS GOOD!

I was skeptical, but this app actually worked, and works as advertised
I tested the app against a store bought stud finder and consistantly got similiar results. I noticed that the phone's ability seems a bit weaker so the LEDs will flash briefly, but it actually worked. Very cool use of built in phone technology. Imagine what future devices will be capable of.
