Study Buddy (Private Pilot)

Learning Mode allows you to create custom review sessions by selecting exactly which categories you want to review. Each session randomly generates the question order, and provides instant feedback based on your answer selection. Each question also provides a detailed description as to why each answer is right or wrong. These explanations were developed by Sporty’s team of Master CFIs, based on their experience preparing students for the Private Pilot certificate
Flashcard mode tests your knowledge by allowing you to only see the question without the answer choices. After answering the question mentally, you can then select to show the correct answer, and self-grade your progress along the way. This is a great feature that keeps you from being distracted by incorrect answers!
Test mode randomly generates a 60-question session from the entire database of published FAA test questions, simulating the real Private Pilot test. After answering all the questions, you’ll be given instant results, and have the option to review either all the questions, or just missed questions. Included in the review session are the same detailed explanations for why each answer is right or wrong.

Great app. It was so helpful to be able to study questions whenever a had free time, wherever I was. Only complaint is the same as one other review I read. It would be very helpful if there was a virtual plotter feature somehow. Maybe like Google earth uses a two finger touch on maps to measure between two points. Other that that, I don't know that I would've passed my written without it!
It's a great , Only problem I can't use it on my chromebook, Example When you practising and they say go view figure You Can't go back to the man page
I love the format. Love that I can quiz myself and have it take me back through only the questions I got wrong the first time. Love that I can study by category (or even select more than one), or take a practice test with all of the categories mixed together. Love the explanations for each correct answer. I was kind of shocked to get this much value out of a $15 app. Highly recommend to anyone studying for the exam, and even for those just looking to refresh their knowledge.
This app has modes of review that really helped me out a lot. The practice exam that let me review my wrong answers was a great feature! The option between multiple choice or flashcard was a great option that made things more interesting and challenging. This app is great!
Automatically I'm let down. The legend for sectional maps are fuzzy and when I zoom in it loses clarity. Not very good for an app. You're going to set up an app it needs to be able to be clearly read.
Love the update! Thank you for adding the ability to save progress! Only request would be to auto save when navigating to the next / previous question so that progress is not lost should the app be closed without hitting the back button.
Learning history needs to display category name(s) in the list. Learning mode selection prompt should display if you have previously taken the category of questions or even better, how many times taken. End of session prompt should be done on pressing next button of last question because you want to read all answer comments after final selection. Otherwise, good app so far...
Please fix how this app does the test.. I like doing the study mode, and doing all questions, well after a few hundred or so I like to save where I'm at, take a break, and sometimes it won't let me pick up where I left off! It only lets me review the questions. This is very aggravating. Have it were you can review or you can continue.
Great app. Focus on FAA exam questions with the answers and the explanations. With the update now, it's has links to FAA books where you can find the answers. you can buy a lot of flying books to learn and add to your knowledge, but this app help you to focus on the questions for FAA exam. keep practicing on this app, definitely you liked as me. Recommended for all student pilots to study, and for professional pilots to review. thank you for this app, keep up with the good work.
Passed my private pilot exam today and did well. Highly recommend the study sessions in question mode. I was able to study on my lunch break at work using my tablet. thanks sportys
I am a flight instructor and use this app to be sure my students are prepared. I sign their endorsement if they can show me 3 90% on their practice tests in this app. I've never had a student fail.
excellent study aid for the knowledge test. I completed the Gold Seal online ground school, then used this app for a week prior to my exam. Scored a 90% and am more then happy with this app.
Helped me get an 83% on the ppl written. I can confirm that almost every question I saw on the exam was in this app. Way more convinient than a paper test prep book
The practice test asks questions but the only option to answer is see explanation and there isn't any! Flash cards are 👍

After being told by countless people to download the App I finally did. Before, I was using Mywrittenexam and was barely passing. With Study Buddy, you have flashcards, questions and a test. For the study material it explains why all answer are wrong and why they are correct. It even gives you the equations as well. You can't save it but a long as you don't close the app you can pick up right where you left off. My average practice test scores were between 80 83. I took my Written today and Passed with an 85%
Bought this app and was charged double for it ($20). Emailed and requested a refund for the overcharge, NO response from anyone. Not paying double for something I only got one of.
Why? I just bought this app and a week later they drastically changed the layout. It's less usable than before. Figures are cut off on the sides.
Got a 97% on the private pilot wriiten on my first take. This app is a great analog for the actual test. I wish it could be paused in test mode. It DOES save your progress in learning mode if you dont close the app. Note: charts are not to scale and cant be measured with plotter, but the same is true of the actual charts you will use in the test supplement.
Well done. It would be nice if the explanations were a bit better worded, it's sometimes ambiguous what the correct answer was.
Sure wish I could pick back up where I left off on my study sessions. Over 700 questions on the ppl study and must restart every time the app is reopened. Also keeping a database of my progress would be great.
I used this app for a whole semester, then didn't use it for about 2 months. I tried to study after that time period and the app wasn't working. I clicked on all the options; like, flashcard mode, learning mode, test mode, etc., and it didn't give me the categories I could choose from before. It was just blank. I've tried to download it again two times now and restart my phone, but nothing is working.
