Verification failed. That's all it says now. I've been using this app and enjoying the themes for months now. I tried force stopping and clearing the cache. It didn't work. I can't uninstall Substratum and Andromeda because l have layers installed. I know if I uninstall those apps, my phone will become extremely slow and be completely unusable. I know this because I made that mistake when I first got this app. You need to implement a way that can uninstall the layers even if verification has failed. Now I need to figure out a way to get this working again at the risk of my device.

My entire phone went dark! Took me a while to get it because I'm not an expert. By when I did, my s9+ never looked so good. Very easy on my eyes because screens are so bright already and white background everywhere wasn't doing the trick. You better do your research before digging into your system. It could only help

10/10, Made my phone look great by just downloading a theme and then selecting it in the app, loved it, one of the few apps that made me consider rooting my new phone. The only problem I saw was some apps crashing, but that probably is because of the theme I was using, disabling the theme for the app stopped it for working, so it wasn't a big deal at all. By far the best theming app I ever used. Good job guys, Keep it up!

The idea is genius and the customizations you can do look incredible and that makes it very difficult to uninstall the app. BUT........ not one theme was without flaws and it seemed like just waiting for another error to pop up. it's a shame someone can't just fix the damn bugs and create a working DARK theme, but this app is at least the closest I've experienced.

I gave you 5 stats because i dont want the apps rating to go down because of what I see from other people this is a great app. But whenever I attempt enable a theme i get a pop up saying " Substratum could not connect to the Andromeda backend" which means I cant enable themes. I really want to be able to use this app so either update the app or if you can, give me some help to try and fix this issue.

My expectations were very high. I purchased the app, but every time i go through the required steps with my pc , something goes wrong and the window in my pc automatically gets closed. I thought that's a problem of my pc, so i tried using a laptop and the same thing happened. I repeated again and again, but all remained the same. Really disappointed. I sent a mail to the developer but there was no reply from that side. Worst purchase experience with an app so far.

Scrolling in the app is a nightmare, since if you initiate the scroll from anywhere that has a drop down box, it opens and begins scrolling that box, rather than the actual page itself, making it easy to screw up settings and hard to scroll. And with next to no space between sections, it can become nearly impossible to scroll when the theme has a lot of configurable options. Drop down lists, in every other app I've ever used, require a tap to open the list, then can scroll to the option. Opening and scrolling a drop down list instead of scrolling the page is terrible UX. And when reported on Github, the developer blamed it on Google and said to file a bug with Google because it's part of the framework and is intentional. If it was a framework issue, it would affect every app that has drop down boxes, but guess what? IT DOESN'T! So either every single developer of all other apps have managed to work around this and the developer of substratum just doesn't care to fix their broken scrolling and would rather deflect blame to Google, or there's no issue with Google's framework at all, and it's just a lazy developer who doesn't care. I'm inclined to believe the last option, but none of this reflects well on the developer. The functionality of the app otherwise is passable, but the terrible UX and the dismissive response to the bug report earns this developer a FIRM ONE STAR RATING, AND WOULD BE ZERO STARS IF I COULD.

I used to use this and it was pretty buggy but I'm sure it got better so I went to redownload it after purchasing and I've gotten a system update since then (to 8.0) and it told me I had to get the new app made for 8.0 Oreo. I was excited until I clicked download and it said it costed more money on top of what I already paid for for the original app. I don't currently have money so this is an issue and I really don't think EVERY TIME I UPDATE MY ANDROID VERSION I SHOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE SOMETHING ELSE. Thanks.. EDIT: I'll give four stars because a responsive dev team is a key component of an app.

One of the best apps in the Play Store! Used it for months rooted with Nougat and Oreo custom ROMs, it has great potential which can be unlocked by the many themes available (I recommend Pitch Black and Swift Black). It is disappointing to see so many low ratings because of user error or issues with a specific theme that have nothing to do with the substratum app...and this app deserves 5 stars! A big thank you to the substratum team!

Gotten worse and worse overtime, I don't mind plugging it into my computer everytime I want to apply themes, I don't mind have to manually update the themes everytime there's an update, if the app works. It doesn't even work for its own app, I can't uninstall themes, it doesn't clean up old version everytime I install new ones, and it take about 30 mins everytime I want to update themes for my apps. Will not continue to use it for the next phone.

Works great. Only wish I could download multiple backgrounds and install whichever one I wanted. Currently, I have to uninstall and delete the current background then install the one I want. Anyways, good app regardless. Also, wish I could see how the theme looks before installing it on my car radio.

App works great most of the time, I believe yesterday a new update was released, and now whenever I try to launch substratum it tells me verification bhas failed, and to force close it and tell open. If that doesn't fix it, then reinstall it. I did both, neither work. So now I have a non working app, and no way to uninstall my themes. Can the developer please release a fix for this issue ?

one of the first apps i install whenever i am setting up a new device. it takes the android experience to a whole new level!! Makes my phone soooooo pretty!! AND FREE (some forget)! I have never had a problem with it. In any ROM or phone. most issues here are users that dont read or fail to understand that substratum does not have anything to do with a theme having problem. It is like blaming the electrical power company for your IMPORTED chinese gadget not having the same outlet as your house.

There was a case where after first I opened the andromeda application, then gave access from Andromeda Launcher (Windows), and automatically opened the substratum. But... Still raises the message that substratum requires Andromeda Launcher to work. I've also tried it several times, and the last time I tried restarting the phone. The results are still. >:( This is so frustrating. I've tried this on my 2 devices. (Xperia & ZenFone) *Better to update the system, and get a pure dark theme.

Already it used to take a lot of effort to install overlays with help of Andromeda, now the overlays just get stuck while installing. Invested alot of time into making it work, all went to waste .Had put in alot of money and time over the themes to turn my boring stock android UI into something beautiful. All went to waste.

When trying to launch the app, it said that I didn't have a compatible version of android for the app. For some context, I have a s10 and it recently updated to Android 10. I would imagine that it's the version of Android that's messing it up and it's not the developer's fault for it not working on brand new devices.

Not paying to get a black menu theme back. Edit: you mean the party y where you link to the Oreo rootless app for $2, once again not paying for a simple black menu. Edit:2 what's the point in a free app if you charge for charge the majority of Android users (non root). Your eagerness to have root access to our decides is a little concerning.

Why does it keep saying "Verification has failed?" This is super annoying. I don't wanna keep installing old version of it. What's worse, I just upgraded to Note9, and old versions say the same thing!! Please fix ASAP. This issue has been out for a long while. (Review will be modified when problem is fixed).

Took over my phone and installed other sub apps I didn't know about. I just wanted to change the clock back over to the right top side of my screen in Android 9, not install and learn a whole new interface with questionable permissions. I use an HTC phone because their "Sense" UI has always been the best interface of any phone out there -- switching a clock's position isn't worth losing that.

This app is crazy what you can do with it!!! there are so many options its truly endless. you can work with other users themes or you can build one yourself... ive used this for several iterations of Andriod and it is essential for having a unique Android experience. If you dont like it... go back to your IPhone!!! Hahahaha!!!

Installed the app and worked perfectly for a week. Now it show the error "verification failed" I already forced stop the app, uninstall and install and nothing happens. I download it mostly for a dark mode theme but it did not work for the most popular social media as Instagram.

This app is amazing I used it a lot while I was on Android oreo, I'm going to miss those moments where I had to update the themes and install them, where I uninstalled the themes and installed others. Now that my Galaxy S8 is on Android Pie (One UI), I can not do that anymore, I can no longer install my themes or change everything because Google no longer allows that. Please substratum team look for a solution to reuse the themes. If you make those themes re-used, I'd appreciate it.

I'm sure it works great. Paying for a theme led me here, and this led to another required paid substratum. I'm sure the eventual result is worth whatever the total price would come to. But I felt manipulated and backed out of the whole scheme.

I had given a 2 star review... I spent a while day figuring it out. Clearing Google Play data to verify the apps, rooting the device to auto connect on reboot and a lot of stuff. Works best with root, this much I can say. And when it works it works awesome ! Dev were prompt on reply (not solving though) and active, good job. I love the app now. 😅

I used to use this quite a bit back in the day to theme my devices. I have not used it since oreo because it totally lost compatibility and thems for me. My main reason for theming my device was to reduce the light output by having dark themes with an easier to read text. This app used to do that for me. It was not quite so easy to use when it comes to installing themes but once you figure it out it usually works fine. I keep it in my library in case one day i may need it again.

Love it but it has issues. Specifically, certain apps (gboard, app store, Gmail, etc) will eventually stop responding. I then have to uninstall the theme, reboot, reinstall the theme, reboot, activate the theme, and it will be good for a few days. Then it will occur again. Happens on multiple themes.

great app, would be a better experience if my phone was rooted ive had more updates on apps in the past month while using it and having to keep going back to the computer to reinstall the themes gets a bit of a pain in the neck. like i said would be brilliant on a rooted phone. if your not rooted its good for a few days.

used it on two phones so far. one was legacy(marshmallow) and the other is my current one on pie. neither worked on the first try due to ROM issues but overall, the app is simple and easy-to-use. very effective and fast themeing, especially if you have OMS.
