Sudoku: Andoku 3 Free

Hands down the best sudoku app I have found. The tutorial section outlines what techniques are added to each level of increased difficulty, allowing you to learn as you progress. Clean, easy to use interface with plenty of assistance options (or none, if that's your thing). I can't speak for the ads as I purchased the ad removal. 12/10 I reccomend.

Very good app, I would really like it and would upgrade it if indicated the row and column as you touch the grid. I have found one puzzle (Hard standard #224) that has a mistake. It is possible in that puzzle to do only legal moves and still send up in a stalemate of one empty cell and no way to complete the puzzle. I am reducing my rating because of that.

I really liked the new update, at least for hyper sudoku. It sounds like they weren't great for the Sudoku with lines like percent and x, I don't know, but I've been playing this game for a while and the refreshed look gave it some new life for me. Sad to see the old look back actually. And I absolutely loved the easy switching new style input method, as well as the multicell highlight. I hope you at least bring that upgraded control scheme back, and preferably the new look as well

My favorite sudoku app. I liked everything about the recent update except for replacing the colored squares with lines in the special rules puzzles. People who were complaining about the input method changing didn't spend the fifteen seconds it took to look in the options menu and set it how they liked. I thought the new look was great (again, except for the lines, which does impair usability). People just hate any change (and are mean about it).

The different difficulty setting are meaningful. The tutorials teaching how to use different techniques are better that anywhere else. the hint system is great because it can tell you a technique that will work without showing you the affected cells, unless you want it to.

Loved it until UI change today. Played all the time in part because of th clean interface. Loved colors and how boxes highlighted. Loved the long tap choices. Today it all changed and not in a good way. Terrible UI redesign. Not playable. Deleting and looking forba replacement

A great app with several types of sudoku and different skill levels. Particularly helpful if you get stuck is the "help" button where you can get a clear explanation of the next step. Educational!

I never review apps, but this is the most well made sudoku app I have ever had the pleasure of playing. It is obvious that the people who designed it really respect what they do. This app has tutorials that have helped me become a robust sudoku solver. There are so many game variations that I haven't even begun to explore them all. While there are ads, they are not intrusive and do not interrupt gameplay at all. This app is literally one of the reasons I dont switch to iPhone. Thank you

VERY IMPRESSIVE! HINTS that actually TEACH & individual TUTORIALS for all techniques - both w/step-by-step visuals & explanations. Can Import Puzzles, design your own or do 14 Puzzle Variants in 9 Skill Levels. Tutorials are nicely grouped by Skill Level to allow mastery of each technique as needed. Nitpicks: Highlight/Background's UGLY MUSTARD, not yellow. Nice to have Settings Options explained (but trial/error's doable) & Error + Hint #'s added to Stats. I'M BEGGING, PLEASE DITCH MUSTARD...

An excellent app with loads of features for the sudoku enthusiast. Regardless of your level of play this app enhances your enjoyment and improves your skills. Excellent interface, flexible preferences, good tutorials and superb hints. The only feature I REALLY wish for is manual coloring of pencil marks and cells. Great app, though. Well done!

This is the one! All the essentials, dark mode, good performance, works offline, and minimal ads (runs a single ad after puzzle is complete) Pleasant experience from a good developer that isn't greedy!

ORIGINAL: I have always been a fan of Andoku Sudoku. I was excited for 3 to come out. My only issue is that the box is smaller than Andoku Sudoku 2. I have poor vision so that slight difference makes a big difference for me.

The hints are instructive. Highlight colour (khaki) is too bold and distractive. Would like to be able to use colours for colour chains since the hints show how to do that. Excellent work. Edit: highlight can be suppressed by clicking the active digit.

Great app, however, I don't like the latest change to the long-press behavior, please give us the option to go back to long-press entering a number in the opposite of the current mode, instead of toggling modes. Thanks.

RUINED WITH UPDATE!! Please remove what y'all did. This was my favorite game to relax. Now, it's just frustrating! Was much easier to enter possible #'s into a cell then change it to a permanent big # by just holding down the # key. Now I can't do that. It was so much simpler & that made it relaxing for me. Now it's too stressful to get it to do what I want because of all the extra "buttons" that I have to push. Hopefully I will find another Soduko like this one was but THIS WAS a rare find.

My rating used to be a 5 but I prefer the old look to the new one. Games are excellent. Maybe we could be offered a " classic" version that would look and act like r the old one.

Changing my lower rating to a well deserved 5 star. The recent update where the layout color was removed and confusing has been fixed back to its original scheme! Thank you for fixing it, I'll gladly stay and upgrade to ad free now💯👍

The best version of sudoku for Android with one terrible flaw: times out periodically with the message "Everything is okay". The timeout is so bad that it completely destroys the player's concentration. Outside of this the game is simply brilliant. If the author removes the timeout for paying customers I will change my rating to 5 stars.

Best Sudoku app that I've found. It can step you through solving any puzzle but, most importantly, it shows candidates in a convenient way. EXCELLENT!

Update: Back to 5 stars, somehow after uninstalling because of changes in look and feel of game, gave it another try and found things were back to earlier perfection. Oh, and tried other Sudoku apps: none comes even close

Andoku is a powerful Sudoku app. Easily the best Sudoku App. If you are an accomplished player or novice, it has all the tools to help you get better. It also includes tutorials and a solver to guide when you get stuck. Best of all, the developer actual answers messages

Update: Still great game, but the ads are no longer offensive. Thank you! Old review: Game is great, but lately ads have been highly offensive: sound that cannot be silenced and with offensive profanity!!! I don't see any place to buy ad free. PLEASE review your ad policy.

The look and feel are great. It seems there is a big jump between challenging (I do in less than 2 minutes now) and Hard (solved my first honestly in an hour after 3years trying)

Would have rated the app a 5 but was a great app, until update added happy and unhappy face. Now app seems childish and unprofessional. Thank you for your response. The two disadvantages you mention. As for the message hiding the controls for a few seconds ... touch the message and it disappeared. As to turning off the message ... you still can. Like all updates, some will like them, others won't. It's a personal thing. If it had to change, I would have preferred the tick/cross.

Best Sudoku app I've used and it's free. You can mute the ads and they only appear in between games. Small price to pay, in my opinion. The tutorials are really helpful as you progress to higher difficulty levels and you can always get a hint to help you as you learn to spot the patterns. The developer is very responsive as well. *Two month update: I've improved my skills so much using this app. The tutorials are structured really well with the difficulty levels. Just fantastic.

Andoku 3 is an intelligently made app by people who love the game and you can feel it from the word go. The hint system just doesn't fill up a cell, but rather nudges you in the right direction by giving you descriptive hints. The tutorials are also very helpful. The highlighting system is really well done and allows you to see all candidates/filled in values for a particular number easily. This is the app you should go for if you really want to learn the game and fall in love with it!

Lack of convenient tools. thank you for responding. I would like to have 2 convenience tools. 1. I would like to have the options to turn on/off, that the program would remind me of a wrong guess/move. 2. When there is no more definite answers in a spot, and is about time to fill in all the possible numbers as a note, the program would auto-fill these notes 3. Hints for the next guess, guiding thoughts step by step. Also, if one is able to by pass the 1st hint, and go to the next hint.

Ive been using this for several years. On the one hand I wish there was a way to show different levels of candidates, perhaps through coloring. On the other hand, that feature would really be nothing more than enabling guessing and backtracking, therefore I'm forcing myself to learn the strategies the experts use. So, 5 stars.

Very well thought out. I like the way the hints walk you through the strategy gradually rather than giving it all away at once. Still have not figured out whether there is a way to mark cells with alternate colors, though. Also, I would like the option to Solve Singles at every level since that is just mechanical busywork after a certain point
