Had no issues connecting the device to phone and using it to take payment, but there is a major flaw somewhere. It will take payment and tell you it is approved, however it will then later refuse the payment. I lost two payments this way, and despite twice trying to contact Sum Up it is clear they don't care a toss. Hard to recommend a payment device which tells you it's taken a payment and then doesn't, and can't be arsed to help you sort it out.
Since the last upgrade it has all changed and it's almost impossible to navigate on the app. 50% of the time I can't even make a transaction without having to come out and go back in again as the transaction/checkout bar isn't there. I can’t find my reports of how much I've sold and how much has been paid in to my account anymore. It's now user unfriendly, especially android. Why have you over complicated a good system? All I want to do is take payments from my reader and check I've been paid.
The latest update made the bluetooth connection so much worse, but i can clearly see that device is immediately connected via bluetooth, but the app pretends that it is looking for the sum up device and can't find for a long time, something tells me that the company wants us to buy new autonomous devices that doesn't require mobile app. and this was there marketing step.
My biggest gripe is that there is no option to add a discount to certain items in my basket. I sell coffee and often do promotions where you buy 5 get 20% off, I cannot add the 20% discount so have to enter it manually. Very basic feature missing. Silly reply below ⬇️ I don't want to add a gift card, I want to discount the amount before I put the transaction through on the card machine!
People saying it's takes time to connect,every day before you start using it ,just go in settings and connect the reader and you won't have a problem,what I do n never a problem,but if you turn it on without doing that it does take a bit longer.connect before use.
I've not really had a problem with this until recently.... Bluetooth keeps dropping out and when I try to add an item to my checkout, all I get is a blank screen! Please fix these issues.
On opening the app recently, the three buttons on the bottom occasionally disappear (home, checkout, sales) making it impossible to use. The only solution is to delete and reinstall the app.
I use sumup with Loyverse POS and it works 100% of the time, any problems I have are with my internet provider at my cafe and not as a direct result of SumUp. I am now at the point where my business is brining in more money than ever on SumUp, that SumUp may not be the cheapest option (£800-£1000 per month) and we are preferring to stay with sumup as the system is simple, it works with my current POS and my staff and I love it only down side is tips are not available in the UK on Android devices. We have the SumUp card reader only, and it is integrated with our android tablet. the SumUP reports are very usefull too.
Started using Sumup as a back up to my porblomatic fixed line card machine. I'm happy with the app and the service in general. I'm not happy that the card pads stop working after a little time after the 1yr warranty runs out. I did complain to customer services and received a voucher for discount on their web site to replace the pad. Trouble is you are without a pad until it arrives in the mail. Be prepared to purchase another card reader if you want continuous use.
BT connection to SumUp Pro intermittent at best. Latest version powers up from sleep but fails to connect via BT. Already lost business due to difficulty setting up checkout. Current version still broken. Please fix, thank you.
No trouble with setting up the card reader. Pin transactions are good. 5 stars. But ... the online store is a waist of time: if owner cannot set quantity in store, but customer can buy as many as they want. Not logic at all. 2 stars.
I previously gave them a 3 star review. But recently my transactions are being declined for security purposes. They don't have weekend customer support. Sent a message via the website no response. Called and left my number for a call back. Heard nothing back. So guess I'm going back to Square.
Don't waste your time. really rubbish app. Bought the reader for a fair price & I thought the rates were reasonable in comparison to others. After 2 days of trying to get it set up I just wasted another 2 hours and still not working. Highly frustrating. Avoid. Edit: After reading other reviews with similar problems I have deleted the app and shall be returning the card reader for a refund. In summary: a pointless waste of time .
I can't get a payment to go through to save my life!!! I've tried different amounts, different cards, google pay, different phone, different settings, I even googled exactly how much one £ is in usd, added $20 for a $2 test... nothing is working and no one is available to assist I even tried sending an email for assistance but all it says is oops... absolute waiste of money and time not to mention the fees for all the money transfers I had to do to try different solutions...
Excellent app and still improving. It's to go with a shop card reader but they also have a digital shop and accounting soft wear that are all worth while... Great all in one service.
This app has been so handy for getting payments but now I suddenly can't send a text link for payment which was the entire reason I downloaded the app. We have a virtual terminal and a machine so the app is now utterly useless. Bring back texting links
I sent a message to support through the app and didn't get any reply for a week now, and I can't even log into my account now, I only have a server error. They do still send me a lot of marketing mails about their services though instead of replying to my simple concern...
unstable and unreliable the app crashed frequently without warning or obvious reason. not useful in front of customers. tech support is marginal at best and insiste to use the local language just because the device happens to be in that country.
Awful company cancelled our contract with no notice for no good reason after only 3 transactions! when checking the t and c's sure enough they can. we are now out of pocket for the reader and left with no card supplier. disgraceful. Yet our 2nd account for our charity remains open!!!

Not had a problem with the card reader, however the online store is really beginning to bug me, I deleted an item, then added two new items, two days later the deleted item is still showing in my online store and no sign of the new items I've added, I'm just missing out on sales! Plus sold some items to friends, they had plenty of funds in their accounts, they paid through the online store yet three days and the payments are still showing as pending, confirmed money not left their accounts!
Before you sign up to this company picture this please! You sell products to a customer who pays via a credit card using SumUp. A month later you realise SumUp have fully refunded the customer for no reason mentioned (not even an email, phone call NOTHING) nor has the customer notified you of any issues. SumUp are now NOT replying to any of our emails, not answering there phones NOTHING! We are now out of pocket for the sum of £450 thanks to @#£_Up. Awful customer service
Can't get to work correctly on my phone, just keeps going to app setting and no further. Very disapointed as this was recommended as good product.
Good when it works. Used to be able to send payment links but that feature does not seem to work anymore. Also when I go to charge someone using the card machine it's saying pay. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app.... Which did nothing. I spoke to your customer service bot which was a waste of time.
Machine only connects half the time, wasting my time and the customers. I've spoke to people with Apple phones and they don't seem to have any problems, I've had a lot of problems with the Android version that have been experienced with other users. Initially I had a few problems with the app, however, after phoning the support team, who picked up the phone straight away, quickly sorted the issues fixing the app and releasing an update.
