I like the app, especially its 3D simulation mode, which helps me immensely when hiking the Alps in autumn. Since the author is asking "What types of improvements are you wanting to see?", I’ll say: 3D mode availability in more parts of the world. I have been in Iceland, the photographer’s paradise, for weeks, and the 3D mode was never available. Not sure why… Wouldn’t a download of additional data (DEM files?) be enough to make it work?
This has helped me plan my photography/walking route over a period of time to try keep the sun on my back as much as possible to increase my chances of capture better pictures. You can use the time slider to predict the shadows and then plot your route. The terrain simulation is fantastic, I can see that coming in useful on holidays in areas I'm not familiar with.
People are too quick to find negatives these days especially online. This app is by far the best and a essential tool for anyone who wants to start taking better photos or understand the terrain and relation with sun it's great for gardening and geography students. It helpless with taking the next step in photography which is needed these days to standard out from others with all the different platforms, why use photoshop when you can learn to take better photos naturally. The developer is great
This App-- Sun locator Pro--is unparalleled in its graphic presentation of Sun and Moon data. It's really makes complex information simple. I strongly recommend this App to all who seek to understand planetary data on a moment by moment basis.
Used this app to design the perfect picture window that provides a great view balanced with the right amount of light year round.
Great for when you want to know the exact sun conditions someplace. Tons of information available, different times, times of year, etc.
Free version worked great and I referenced it frequently. The 3D mapping tempted me away from Photopills and I have to say, for living somewhere where the sun sets behind a mountain for half the year, it's immensely helpful. Will update review as I work out the features. PS: Does anyone know if maps are downloadable for offline use?
Got pro as I'm a landscaper. It's worth it because I can figure out sunny/shady spots in garden.
Clean and clear app. Please add adjustable time counter to different events: sunrise, begin of blue or golden hours, etc. instead of solstice and equinox info. That info (solstice and equinox) better to be placed at the end of screen or to another screen, because that information needed not so often in compare with all the rest data.
Using pro version since AR is a key feature for me. Can't find any better app for sun/moon positioning prediction.
I am really enjoying this app. I've been using the free version for a year and I'm very pleased with it. City backyard gardening can be difficult due to varying degrees of sunlight, throughout the year. But this app has helped in so many ways. I decided to upgrade because I feel really pleased with the quality/features of the app and want the full experience that comes with upgrading to Pro. I also want to support the app creator, as well. More please! Also, thank you for creating this app.
Pretty good app. I've needed it several times, as I'm a farmer, and I need to know where the sun will be on people properties when I consult for them. It does get confused sometimes though. It will place you a half mile away from where you actually are. A few features could be better but it seems this app is developing a lot so they'll figure it out
I love using this to find out about the perfect time to check out astronomical events. As someone who loves sunset, this helps me be ready always to watch for each one. It also helps to know the perfect time to take photos because of the golden hour feature. Really love this app!
This app is a MUST for site planning. I have used it for optimized lines of sight as well as strategies for solar installation. The A.R. feature has saved hundreds of century pine trees just because I can prove sun position for the entire year. It is easy to use. Intuitive. Highly Recommend.
Great app. I used SunDroid for years (no longer supported). I've picked up SunLocator and love it. There are others out there but none have the shadow function...which is amazing. I use that for anything from real estate photography to when is the best time to sit on the front porch what with the shadows cast by trees from across the street. Thank you!
Brilliant. The controls in the augmented reality view are so simple but smooth and effective. Great for all sorts of applications like gardening, building, locating solar panels or picnics, planning the best time to do things. Love it.
Love this app. The UI is easy to understand and use. The data is very useful for photography and design work at our new home. Would be nice to have the compass more prominent for determining direction.
Great app with all the data you need. it's hard to slect the exact day or time with the sliders. If the slider buttons for selecting time and were bigger, it would get 5 stars.
Beta ...3D Terrain Simulator...So far awesome. better mapping sure with updates i am confident this app will keep getting better. lets make that sun look real in the sky. " what's its look like to me " and i see this app is on its way to doing this. again thx you. Plz keep updating D Terrain Simulator as of 1/7/2020 it looks awesome nice improvements. I would like to see a elevation key and milage keys.
I used this app to predict sunset directions so that I can aim the ridge board of our new house at it. I decided that I would aim it at the equinox so that the sunset would shine directly into the windows twice per year. During the winter the sunsets will move to the south and to the north in summer. It is also a great tool to discover how the sun travels in the sky.
Fantastic app am using to plan gardens and investigate Neolithic site. Would be great if the overlayed graphs of AR on the photo could be taken as pictures/video and stored. That would make it extraordinary.
Excellent app ,could use an easy located search bar ,I've purchased the upgrade but feel in all honesty it could be a bit cheaper ,I'm looking forward to giving it a full field test when I go climbing to take photos
Great app! I used the paid version to locate the best place for my solar panels. Easy to use with lots of useful information. Easy to locate the exact position of the sun every day of the year and any time of the day. Using the camera view, you can see any obstructing trees or buildings.
Very inconsistent. I purchased this app after using the free version for a while and the sunrise is very inconsistent. Only after the sun has risen does the app correctly place where the sun rose. I needed this app a few days ago and it told me the sun was going to rise WAY further on the south east horizon than it actually did. I calibrated several times which did nothing. UPDATE: Most of the time I'm NOT around any magnetic interference when I tried to use this app (lakes, river, ocean).
