Absolutely brilliant. Thanks guys! I had a very complex problem of overshadowing and space constraint on my roof and this made it possible to calculate the maximum power for my installation. It gives the sun azimuth, altitude and length of shadow anywhere in the world on any day at any time. And even shows the map and sun position graphically. Just brilliant. Thanks again. I could not have done it without you.
So far the only missing feature I noticed is customizing the main page. I'd like to see the timeframe when the altitude is above 50°. It's useful for figuring when vitamin d will be produced in the body.
Absolutely love this app. As well as seeing where the sun is in real time you call look ahead too. Very useful when I plan long bike rides and want to know when sunrise is. Also when the sunset is going to be at my final destination. Great positioning a portable solar panel for maximum rate of charging.
Exactly what it says. It lets me view my locatiob and see sunlight coverage/path/time. I'm using it specifically for planning a multi-year garden and small orchard overhaul where i recently moved. The only add is a stationary banner that's not intrusive. Very pleased, absolutely recomend.
Need to figure out sun directions at various places and times of day for optimal photography conditions. The web site is great for this ...just starting to try the app for this too.
Excellent app, perfect for the job... shows the position of the sun and allows you to put a cross where you want to measure. Also shows sunrise and sunset times with altitude and azimuth. Great for gauging where the sun will be at different times on different dates.
Great app. I use it constantly as I am a airplane photographer and during the airshow season I like to identify in advance the best spots for capturing the action with good light: 5 stars!
More maps please. Good for taking photos... if you like sunrises and sunsets. Used it all over the world. I've in UK and its invaluable plotting hiking routes with sun rises down valleys. Get me OS maps working on it and I'd be overjoyed. Cheers Everyone on the project. Any know how I get OS maps working on this app
Simple yet accurate, easy to understand and use. I need this to evaluate the feasibility of solar panels at my house. Best among 3 similar apps I have tried -- one kept asking me to recalibrate the compass, the other one is more difficult to understand/use and I didn't have the patience to study it carefully.
Would like to see how the shadows fall over buildings and trees at street level. Once I figured the program out it is quite easy to use.
Useful but a bit mysterious for first time users. An info and instructional page with glossary would help that. If there's a corresponding website page for mobile, put the link in the app.The slider below the data and map could use a label indicating it as time adjustment and touch/slider function eg.'am/pm', 'slide' or a clock symbol.
No shadow ever appeared, so it wasn't what I needed - the web version does this, though. Decent UI, would prefer satellite default (and, a wider choice of providers) but that can be changed in settings.
Maybe only for people with specific interest, but I find it absolutely fascinating. I could spend hours trying different scenarios. Very easy to get the hang of. And it does have practical uses for things like garden planning.
Shadow feature does not work for me unfortunately, but it works on the website when I use Chrome on my phone. Also cannot zoom as much as the website jn satellite view. Overall experience in the app feels crippled compared to the site.
Excellent app I've only tried it briefly so far. If I need more I will look at the online version. I'm concerned about security because of the permissions it needs. Hopefully that can be sorted out, then 5 stars
Five stars for the extra feature of date setting, while all the other apps that I have tried, ask for money. Also for the clean add-free interface. Thank you, this application is a great tool.
Thanks so much for this app, love it. Planning my future home position and I absolutely charmed with its functions! It let you to appoint any place in the world, shows how high the sun at certain times and you can easily adjust time of the day to see how it would be. So, dear developers, you are awesome! Love your app!
Asks too many permissions, & a horrid colour. Also a bit fiddly compared to Suncalc website. Lines aren't long enough when horizon is a long distance off. Although this is probably one of the most trustworthy & accurate apps, there are more intuitive out there if you prefer something simple to use (as I did). Now uninstalled, but glad to try again later if more help info & a nicer interface (thinner lines & better colour scheme). Fascinating useful idea but just not user-friendly enough for me.
