Sunny Portal
The window to SMA Smart Home. PV system operators can use the Sunny Portal to perform a range of visualization and control tasks anytime, anywhere. The mobile online portal not only provides clear information about all relevant electrical energy flows but also offers a user-friendly platform for various control tasks – from basic system settings to activation of specific domestic appliances through SMA radio-controlled socket. Thus, you will not only benefit from the visualization of total consumption, self-consumption, purchased electricity and grid feed-in as well as PV power generation and the self-consumption quota, but also for the first time from integrated PV generation forecast and the resulting recommended actions. Furthermore, a variable system password protects the whole system against unauthorized access.

For example: In the case the plant detects a blackout you can contact the plant operator with a few fingertips via telephone. You can then verify if this is only a fuse that blew or if you need to organize that the service personnel has a look at the situation on the site.Plant Description All important data is visible at a single glance. The plant can be easily presented anywhere you want. And by the way: Sunny Portal can be used in order to define new users, so friends or shareholders can see the plant performance at any time.

User friendliness is poor. Navigating through time periods difficult. No annual comparison. No interesting analysis (big data) about the performance of your system, like degrading of your modules or home usage patterns. Weather forecast unreliable and doesn't seem to be real time. The app shows the basic data, but that's it. Website portal is even better. Developed by engineers and not by user centric professionals.
All this shows is the graph of the current yield. You can get the daily graph, monthly graph, yearly graph, lifetime graph-- but nothing about the current instantaneous yield, or any actual numbers -- just a graph that leaves you to guess the numbers. You can see the properties of the plant - how many KW's are installed, etc -- but its my plant - I already know that information. Otherwise, none of the graphs or screens shown are accessible. You're better off just going to the sunny portal website and bookmarking it. This is just a whole bunch of promise without any useful information.
This app is essentially useless. It doesn't have any live information like that is available on the website, slow to load, and stops displaying data randomly. dont even bother. SMA need to stick to making inverters, as ther software development skills are somewhat lacking
Not very useful since I cannot see the energy balance data. It appears in the sample photos but I just don't get the option despite having a meter and being able to access the data on the website without issues.
no proper live data. dated, portrait only, lags behind in the graph between 0 and 60 minutes. best to avoid. browser link to sunny portal or direct web link to the inverter works much better. Shame that the software for the #1 inverter is so lousy.
Functionality is poor. This app needs to replicate the Sunny Portal on desktop to be of any value to the system owner. Knowing daily yield is nice; however, that is but a fraction of the data that one would expect from an app of this nature. I would not bother with it until the developer improves it, at a minimum, to mirror the information you get from the desktop site.
Only works intermittently with Android v.11. Will not connect to the plant unless all open apps on the phone are first closed and then only connects about a third of the time. Worked fine with previous Android versions.
Unable to see real-time PV power. Clunky and slow interface. Don't bother using the application. Unnaceptable for one of the leading inverter manufacturers to have such a rubbish user experience.
This app doesn't tell you.much at all. Be nice if it was much the same as the website version! But my main issue I have with SMA is not easily being able to change internet passwords or modems devices.
Workable basic - has potential It would be great if you could update the yield on an hourly basis instead of every 24 hours. Also a widget for the phone app version would also be very useful.
I have a unit mounted on the wall. It appears to be communicating with the internet. I don't know the user name or password so I cannot log on to it. Most apps provide some means to restore lost passwords but this one doesn't. My email is: gailjohnh@yahoo.
Sunny portal is a very ageing app that does not handle offgrid systems very well. The app is slow, and it is not interactive. You can't control your system from it. There are no alternatives to it readil available.
Weird app. Can login, and then literally nothing. Just a white screen. No option to add my system, no buttons no whatsoever. Would have given zero stars if possible. Website isn't much better, judt shows personal info. What a deception.
Ridiculous app. Not been able to use this to talk to my SMA inverter. You seem to need to jump through hoops creating an account,registering your SMA inverter and no idea if it'll ever work. I gave up. I ended up using a third party Oxley Solar app instead which just talks to the SMA inverter via bluetooth and gets on with the job in a few seconds, which is exactly what SMA's own app should do! Why should I need do anything via the Web just to talk to the inverter inside my own house? Pathetic.
Pathetic app. Only shows daily production. Does not even have a page for alarms/ alerts. Cannot see consumption. Compared to other inverter apps I have seen this is a very poor attempt. I expected more from a German technology company.
screenshot is different from the actual screen in app. the app is much more basic and some menu is not even available. Please show numbers on the monthly and yearly graph.
So I just got my system up and running, the online webportal is ok, not great, but I figured the mobile app couldn't be as bad as people are saying, but it's bad. It somehow has less features and data than the online version which only has a few anyway. I got hacked up an API to get my inverter data within a few minutes and could make a better app than this in an afternoon. Not sure how a fully formed company can push this app out with any shred of dignity. Dear SunnyBoy -if you would like help on your app please contact me, it's seriously awful and a very bad indicator for people interested in your products.
Useless very bad application. Do not install. I do not need an account to access the inverter data via bluetooth, it's just for corporate data theft.
Great app, when it's working. It sometimes disconnnects itself and I need to contact company that set us up, and that's not a quick fix!
Mostly works fine, would be nice to see current power production. Also notice spikes in production (startup) that are way higher then my inverter can deliver, seems to be a bug.
I think the app works fine but it's fairly limited. Would be great if it showed information similar to the website version log in. The website version is much nicer. Showing current production etc I like seeing the guage.
Doesn't offer any real-time data, and only a generated power every hours or two. We need a mobile app that has features as sunny explorer. Sunny portal is just lackluster and useless app, it's shame that SMA only could offer this useless app for mobile platform.
I downloaded Oxley Solar, it worked immediately, no account needed + it's free. Have never been able to connect this small app to my very expensive sunnyboy system. The app does nothing when I open it, just a blank screen. Using pixel 2XL.
Practically useless. Only graph with yield, and even it with delay. Webpage more useful. Disappointing in this age of technology.
Complete waste of time app. It does not do anything on mobile phones except showing how much energy was produced a day before. Useless.
Good app. Fix requested: Daily email template #1 always defaults to USD instead of configured currency. Feature requested: Please add a security pin or fingerprint auth. Include weather forecast in email template. Include a breakdown of generated electricity and feed-in tariff so that the difference can be seen clearly.
Poor interface, no information regarding your system, power generation and efficacy. No option to compare with previous data. Not as described in the about section of the app, I don't get to see the same screens! "0 stars" if I could choose. Waiting for improvement.
