Was good when I originally bought it years ago ,but unable to use the voice i chose ,and it won't update.
Broken now. Don't waste your time. Was a brilliant voice, emphasis on the was.
No update since 2012!, if your phone is newer than android v2.2 forget it - it won't work
This voice unable to download, what a lousy app!
ABANDONED BY PUBLISHER. PAID FOR APP CANNOT DOWNLOAD OR USE ON PHONES.
I love this on my old note 3. Does not install on my new phone. Abandonware?
Won't download voice. Broken
This simply does not work. Don't buy it.
When using this app there are times when there are two distinct different voices taking turns to provide navigation directions (this is not every tinge though). The main voice sounds tinny compared to Pico tts, and can be difficult to hear over road noise.
Makes voice navigation sound so much more pleasant & less robotic than Google's default voice. I also like that it can accept corrections for the occasional mispronounced words, unlike competitors like Ivona. I replaced Ivona with SVOX because I hated how Ivona mistakes interstate highway names like saying 'I minus 85' instead of I-85, and then had no way of correcting it. SVOX gets this right by default, but also can be correted when needed.
Bought the paid version but app won't download. Put an icon on my screen but when I try to open get error message saying "voice data failed to load, try later." No response to my email asking for help so guess my money gone, a complete ripoff. Would give this a minus if possible. Moto G4
but the British Google voice is better quality now than SVOX even if Victoria has a more unique voice. Also doesn't always work and switches back and forth with Google TTS regardless of phone settings. I used this primarily with Google Maps and I'm not rooting to make SVOX work right. If they improve, enhance and update their product then I'd be happy to switch back to them again.
Overall the voice synthesis is good. Howevwr when used in a sat nav (e.g. copilot) it unnecessarily slurs numbers e.g. "turn left onto A247" sounds like "turn left onto a two-fr-seven". A lot of British street names are mispronounced, too, showing the limits of the heuristics.
I wish people wouldn't give this bad ratings just because it isn't immediately working in Maps. The reason it doesn't work is a Google Maps issue - not an SVOX issue. If you want this to work for Maps, you may need your phone to be rooted. What I did was make a backup of all Google TTS & Pico-related files, then remove those programs from the phone. Make sure SVOX is set as your default TTS service and voice data is installed, then restart. If you aren't rooted, I'm not sure if anything will fix this.
This worked well on my old phone but then I upgraded to a Pixel phone. Every time I try to download the voice data, it fails with a message that I have no Internet connection. Tried contacting the developer but the email addy no longer exists. This item is no longer supported. Update - six months later and I tested it again. Same result. Do not pay for this unsupported app - you're throwing your money away.
The voice sounds great, more so when compared to US Grace, only issues are some words she say's wrong, but most TTS apps have those issues, so hopefully over time they get worked out so that no matter the words, she knows how to pronounce them. Other then that, love this purchase!
you have a very good product but unfortunetely it isnt compatible with android 7 and above. cannot install and says license error. I have had this for a few years and prefer it over any other voices in the market. will definitely up to 5 stars again once I can use it, which I think is fair. Been waiting 3 years for you guys to update and fix your product, im giving up. how can someone have the best product in the market in voice and simply abandon it is beyond me!
Paid for it. Now it's not working at all. Developers don't respond to emails. I've been duped of my hard-earned money. Google should get paid users reimbursement of actually paid money from the svox developers. USERS DON'T INSTALL ANY OF SVOX. GIVE IT A BAD RATING.
I listened to samples of voices available and this one was by far the best, so I buy it, install the app. Now every time I open the app it immediately shuts down and I can't do anything. I have tried un-installing and re-installing and it still shuts down before I can set it. Very disappointing.
This app worked great until recently it just stopped. All my efforts to contact the manufacturer have failed. They have not responded to any emails. I've tried to contact Google and they were useless. I've now got an app that I loved and that I paid for but simply doesn't work on my new Motorola droid turbo. As of 8/7/16 for Google Navigation it will not use 3rd party apps like this. If you choose UK English for your phone Google will use a UK English voice but it's never this Victoria.
The quality is good (not like a robot) but a little unclear and quiet. I tried setting the voice volume a little higher but then the voice sounded distorted. I eventually switched back to my default google tts voice because I could hear it better.
This used to work, back in the days of ICS, but since Kit Kat it's been useless. Oh, and spare me your snarky remarks about Google maps being the issue, my phone IS rooted, and this Vox still does not work. I honestly wouldn't care if it DIDN'T work in maps, I would just like it to be the default voice for all phon e features. Either way, crashing on open is a major disappointment.
Victoria was my favorite thing about my Android phone but after wiping my phone for an unrelated problem I can't reinstall her. So sad. :(
Used to use this on my Motorola Defy for navigation and sports training apps, and now have installed it on my new Motorola RAZR i. Sounds amazing in Google maps navigation and fades in beautifully for giving directions over the top of music being played from the phone over the car stereo.
Have had this installed for over a year, now crashes with license verification error. Have contacted dev several times without a response.
Have never been able to use this because it fails to download from their server. Tried contacting their support and received no response.
I was beginning to get jealous about not being able to find a good siri clone for my android when i found victoria. It's like having a british maid in my pocket waiting on me... Now if she can read my ebooks.
No longer works "data failed to install" Hasn't been updated since 2012. Svox does not care about people who paid for the voices. The Svox app is useless for current Android OS.
