Completely unusable, probably due to how old this proprietary bit of kit (DVR4-4000) is. Modern browsers don't even work with the hardware either. Do yourselves a favour; retire these old, analogue systems and replace with modern, TCP/IP cameras - either direct access or via a TCP/IP digital NVR.
I had the same problem... Not workings with my new phone once I installed the message show The app was built for an old version of android & may not work properly try checking for updates. But where & how to update? . Nó updated Support. Why still let people wasting time. Most people have latest phone & Your app was last updated on 2012 {7yrs ago} please do things 😠😭
Instructions non existant, website link for support is longer active. It seems like Swann prefer to make new apps to add to their already long list of apps, and neglect all the previous ones. This makes the Swann products useless as the company does not future proof it's products.
As an installer of CCTV i see it all. And what I see, is a failure of Swann hardware consistently. 1 in 3 customer purchased equipment has some kind of failure. Whether its a power supply, camera , dvr or hard drive its very inconvenient. Means u have to go back and fit the new bit after the customer deals with the RMA process. David Swann, i hope your legacy was worth those millions. Your products used to fill a gap in a neice market. Now every piece of junk out there has your badge on it!
Doesn't work. Has not been updated to work with new phone models, app says it's made for older devices so it will NOT properly work with new devices. Why buy their products if you can't use the app for security purposes. Does not deserve even 1 star.
Needs an UPGRADE!!!! Hasn't been updated since 2012! Really????!!!! Please update software to work with latest Android version. Even when it was working it was glitchy.
So far this company has been absolutely ridiculous and trying to install these cameras so obviously if you have an older model camera they don't have any software for it or even have anybody to help you try to find some software for it it's absolutely ridiculous I'm going to throw these cameras in the trash and block this company trash company no I would never use them again wasting my money in time
Another absolutely diabolical App that doesn't work on new android platforms. Buyers of Swann CCTV camera systems are now starting to be basically ripped off with out of date running systems. No to update now Swann. Better CCTV CAMERA SYSTEMS OUT THERE NOW. DONT BOTHER WITH THIS MAKE until they update. 2 /10

This app is very frustrating. Your server must be reinstalling/set up against if your DVR loses power. The UI is unfriendly and unintuitive. Swann really needs to raise the bar on this connectivity. I would explore other DVR options until this gets I improved.
I have been in contact with tech support for a total of +4 hours this past few,weeks. They cannot tell me why I still cannot view on my phone. I dont know if changing my type from DCHP to static has anything to do with it but my issues started at that point. Was a great app but now it is useless. Can only view my cameras via computer. Not convenient at all.
The reason I bought a to look on my phone it doesn't work all the time actually less of half time. But it is cool when it does work I can watch my dogs and see who's at home..the problem was fixed now it works perfectly it is kind of fun thanks to the people on the phone so I'm putting 5 stars now
App tries to write to the sd card with android devices but can't even create the directories it thinks it's using, you connect and see a black screen. I gave up and used myeye pro Hd. Worked first time OK, both bits of software look identical.
I have 4 cams around my house. The kids on my estate tried to steal my motorbike at least twice a month but now they don't even try. I can remotely view when I'm out and it's peace of mind more than anything. Not hard to set up u just need the right ip address for your home and away settings. Away is your mobile view just search what's my mobile ip address on the net and your up and running.
Works excellent via wifi (local) and via 3G/4G. I love the ability to save snapshots and video locally on my devices. Calling support for mobile viewing was a must, but well worth it. One thing the could add is a 4x2 or 4x4 widget that shows your live cameras. That would make this a ten star app.
Works great for me, I called the support line and had them remote into my home PC and they breezed through the set up in les than 10 minutes. And sent me an email explaining how to set it up on home WiFi and from other networks. My recommendation is to do the same and save yourself a headache
Worked intermittently after last Galaxy S6 Edge + update, and after latest one last week it just doesn't work at all and whilst it shows as playing cameras, it's actually just a blank screen. Shame as it was always good and I've used it for ages on several phones, but it seems the latest phone hardware and software is just too much for it. All settings
The device settings are not saved when the app is closed. The Autoplay function does not pick up the previously set up camera/channel setting, giving you just the blank screens where you will need to go back and reassign the channels. This is frustrating since if we cannot view our live feeds quickly. It used to work on my Galaxy S2, now it doesn't work on S3 or S4.
The app used to work great when I first downloaded it about 6 months ago. Now, it doesn't work at all. It won't even make it past the splash screen. I have to uninstall, reinstall, and re-setup all my dvrs to only be able to view my cameras once or twice before it stops working all over again. Real pity. --> GalaxyS III
I was told that to set up the device I would just have to go into settings, click add device, and the camera on my phone would turn on and I would just have to scan the code on the box. That isn't even an option, and I don't know ANY of the information that this app is asking for or how to get it to set it up! I'd give it zero stars if I could, it's worthless.
Realized I had installed the WRONG app version for my 1400 model DVR on my newer S7 Edge phone. After I installed the CORRECT version on my phone, the app worked immediately, and I was able to view my cameras via cellphone again. I guess I had been lucky all those years using SwannviewPro on my Note2 when it really shouldn't have been working. Lesson learned: Always make sure you are using the RIGHT app with the RIGHT equipment. Thanks Swann!
The problem here is that unless your a computer head the instructions to set the app up are hard to work out for the average tech dinosaur like me. Setting up the DDNS was easy bit when setting up the app no details.. for anyone who reads take note. In the app when adding the username and password it's the same as the one you open the menu on your DVD at home. It's not the one you set up the DDNS with. A simple tip that would of saved me months of agony. Detailed instructions please Swann.
I have tried every Swann app out there. Most have never worked on any of my mobile devices. This one is slightly better: It has worked on about 10% of the mobile devices I have owned over the past 10 years. But it still gets a 1 star, because when it does work, it is still flaky and unreliable.
