Swaras

Swaras is an app which generates Carnatic (South Indian classical) music phrases (without gamakams/oscillations) for different ragas (scales).
- Each tune is randomly generated, based on existing compositions and traditional phrases in that raga.
- Unique phrases which closely follow the character of the raga are generated using a predictive pattern matching algorithm.
- Numbers for Melakarta ragas are indicated.

This is a large app and the inability to move it to the SD card is very annoying. I have no idea why the app wants to hog memory instead of staying on the SD card. Poor design. Uninstalled.

This app proves to yield some interesting results, particularly in pentatonic ragas. It would be more useful if it would also work in multiple different talas, nadais, gatis, etc. instead of a fixed pace for a given time. More importantly, I wish it showed notation for what it generated. that would lend nicely to some analysis and further study.

Please give an option to change the shruti. There is no option to change the shruti. It is a good app. Random generation is very nice.

Amazing..love it. It would be better if it is heard in any indian musical intrumental sound.

Pretty neat concept...however improvements could include gamakaas....(pitch bending)... Tempo changing options... Instrument combo box with just flute, violn and veena

The predictive algorithm seems to be doing a good job.

Disappointing. The aro/avaro is the only thing I find useful. And ever heard of something called gamakam?

Access to only a few known ragams... Nevertheless, nice app.

Very interesting app with lots of promise. Keep up the good work. Would be good to see notation for the raga's ascending / descending scales. And how about a North Indian version?
