Swift on Mobile

The Swift on Mobile app brings West Midlands Metro (tram) tickets directly to your phone. Simply select, pay and save your ticket to Google Pay.

When you’re ready to go, tap your phone on the conductor’s reader until you hear the beep.

No need to open up the Swift on Mobile app or Google Pay.

App features include:

• Purchase 1 day, 1 day off-peak, 1 week and 4 week West Midlands Metro tickets
• Pay with credit/debit card or Google Pay
• View purchase history
• Link with your Swift account

You will need to be able to access your ticket each time your travel. Meaning, if your phone has no battery and you are unable to present your ticket, you will need to pay the fare for your journey. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund you in this instance.

For this you will need Google Pay on a non-rooted Android device. Swift on Mobile is available on Android devices (Lollipop 5.0+) with Near Field Communication (NFC) capability.

Largely useless at present unless you use trams. Bus and train not added. App description neglected to mention this. Also seems to have limited interaction with existing swift card. If you have a direct debit, then could add your card details and use your phone if you forgot the card, then that would be really useful, then buy additional tickets when you need them on the app, great. That doesn't seem to be an option here.

Good idea but not fully functional, limited to only accessing tickets for metro not ideal and with the current issue of no metro services. It would be good to see network tickets also on the App including possible daytripper tickets in the future and complete network tickets for bus train and metro. Personally I do use the off peak 2 week ticket which is still a cardboard item, it would be good to see this transition to the App in the future, and will save trips to the train station

its ashamed you cannot purchase bus passes on this all, it's only limited to metro. It would be very useful to be able to purchase bus pass this way rather than going online to the website.

Should put its a pilot for trams and metro tickets only in title to not waste people's time, because of zones in Birmingham I can't even buy a season ticket between two destinations in Birmingham on my phone using another app.

Works well but was told by a conductor on a tram that the prices are out of date and more expensive than the prices you can buy on the tram. Do the prices need an update.

OK if you use trams I guess no good for trains or buses. swift has been around a long time - imagine if oyster card was this bad! London would not put up with this.

Disappointed it's only for tram, and a limited number of ticket you're even for the team. I hope they introduce train and bus to the app soon

Why only pilot this on trams? Only a small userbase will find this useful. Unless you live in west brom and work in the city, the app is pointless

At least put the train functionality on the app. If you can't do it. Buy the source code from London Transport. 🚊🚆🚍

Its useless, you can only use it to see your have a valid card. But you still have to buy a ticket when your card is not with you. Pointless.

Have to jiggle the Swift card about a lot to get it to register on Motorola Z2 and G7. Otherwise, you can add money to the card in this way. Need to be a bit more sensitive.

Make it so we can use it on bus and train aswell as metro because barely anyone uses metro compared to bus and train

Use my phone for trains, coffee etc everyday but won't work on the tram. Has to be the tram devices? Thankfully conductors know it doesn't work.

Poor use. It would be much better to put this on buses and should be able to put your current swift card on it. Makes it lesser hassle to bring a swift card everywhere

Can i not link my existing physical swift card that i pay by direct debit for to the app? It'll be so much easier then getting my card out as my mobile is always to hand.

app worked fine and on conductor machines easy to use

Good idea but it is useless if you can only buy a merto pass.

Ele. P. Dec 6, 2019

It's a pity I can't use credit I have on other Swift Cards to pay for tickets on this mobile app?
