Swipe for Facebook

Why sacrifice form or function when you can have both? Swipe is the smoothest, slickest Facebook wrapper app out there, integrating the light Facebook mobile website into a familiar user interface that is much like the original Facebook app.
What you get is a lightweight, highly customizable, and battery-friendly Facebook alternative app that emphasizes on user interface and user experience as much as functionality and design.

It's better in every single way. You'll feel it.

Pro version available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.happening.studios.swipeforfacebookpro

Upcoming features in the works:
- Automatically open Image Viewer whenever pressing on a photo
- Fix for horizontal scrolling
- Caching tabs for faster reloads

For any more bugs or feedback, please go through the app's settings and press the Bug Report button.

Had been really enjoying this app. Switched over from another alternative FB app because that one had stopped working. Now this app is really struggling and full of bugs. For the last few days I have not been able to search for or view anyone's profile, it times out. Also noticed when I came to check the reviews the app hasn't been updated since September. Seems far too long for a platform that changes as much as FB does. Disappointed and hope the bugs can be fixed.

Message notifications don't sync properly. I'll have a message from ten hours ago that won't show up until I open the app itself. Also, "peeking" is always on, regardless of what you do in settings. So unless you disable notifications, it'll always show your messages' contents in the status bar's drop-down menu. It's a shame, as the app itself is very nice. But as a messenger, it's quite frankly broken.

I like the various customizable features, especially the black amoled. But it's a little messy. The app bugs, does not work properly half of the time. I'm uninstalling and replacing it by Facebook lite, which isn't as nice but at least it doesn't bug like this one. I'll be glad to reuse your app if you can manage to fix it... 😉

for the most part this app is awesome!! i hate Facebook, the app is always broken and every "update" fixes one thing and breaks three more. the browser won't let you open messages without interrupting you every 30 seconds to demand you download the app. this app is a great alternative. it still needs a little work--some things are slow, sometimes the app kinda breaks a little and you have to restart it. overall though...i love it

Great app. Lightweight, customizable, does what it's supposed to do. There's just one problem that is keeping me from giving it 5 stars and that's whenever you scroll through your feed for a while it will randomly refresh and put you back at the top. Hopefully the developers have a fix for this soon or will at least acknowledge that it is a problem.

I don't know why, but my experience with this app has been very unsatisfactory. Actions take too long to load (picking a reaction, for example) and it gets really jittery when I scroll through the feed. Sometimes, flicking up causes the feed to bounce back a few steps instead of continuously scrolling down. Tested other Facebook web wrapper apps and they all seem to work fine; no lags, no delays, no issues. A shame I couldn't enjoy the app as I expected it to be, especially with the UI overhaul.

It has the potential to be a tool for a 'customized' version of Facebook. I just find almost everything, if not buggy; slow. So I hope the developers would make the experience of using this app more appealing to it's users. Especially the chat heads, tool bar, and just overall animation, I guess. Swipe really does have the potential if the experience would be a lot more smoother.

Great. The way Facebook app should be. Only downside is that the incorporated messenger part isn't great for sharing messages to others. Or maybe I'm just doing something not quite right Update 3/7/20 : need to lower the rating. The app quite often doesn't open the content on tapping the notifications. I have removed and reinstalled the app to no avail. Uploading photos is problematic as it often jumps back to the news feed when I hit 'post'. I then have to start the process again. Disappointing

The new material design look of the app is great, it finally makes this a worthy alternative to the official FB app. I love the ability to theme and the layout is user friendly and easy. There are still some bugs in it though (for instance I'm not able to 'Unfollow' friends news feeds pretty frequently, forcing me to go on the browser to do it), but still a great app.

I strongly dislike white backgrounds. I prefer black backgrounds with preferably yellow, but usually white, text. Reason is because I am light sensitive and battery conscious. This app is very customizable. Hope to see more! Choose layout of the UI and all the colors on it. Plus it's super smooth and fast. Arguably better than Facebooks app itself. Thank you for this.

Definitely better than the original Facebook app and it's absurd amount of other apps you have to download for the full Facebook experience, though I have noticed some things with this app. Chat heads can go off the screen at both the bottom and top of your screen, under the write a message box there's just a random blank area which seems to grow when you send a message (can send screenshots if need be).

So far, so mostly wonderful! There is much to like about this app. One thing I hate, though, are the notifications - alerts and reminders (??). Even long after a message or call has been finished/read/seen/answered/replied to/checked etc, it keeps on making noises (and visuals, too) at me, it takes so many goes to get rid of a notification/reminder!!! It is driving me crazy, but I don't want to do without any notifications completely, I just want it to stop once it has been dealt with! I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, but I'm willing to raise that to 5 if I can get rid of this issue.

Not just another wrapper. It's beautiful, elegant, obviously a lot of thought and coding went into this. It's also very buggy, laggy, and frustrating. On some devices the frame loads immediately, then you could wait literally a full minute for the actual FB content. Sometimes it just hangs and nothing else happens. Sharing to it and other functions are also tedious. Mixed review. Fixing it would be so appreciated. It's an app y'wanna love.

I spent some time looking for an alternative app for accessing Facebook Messenger, and found this one. It was really good for a while. But for the past (I think) few months it has refused to log in. As in, I enter my FB email and password at the app's login page, click the "log In" button, and the app just refreshes the login page. So I can no longer get in. It's a real shame, because it used to be a really good app. I've gone back to Metal, which isn't as good as Swipe used to be, but at least still works.

Overall, it's not bad. Notifications (top of home screen) doesn't work correctly? It will display that I have 2 new notifications, when I actually have many more. Rarely shows "most recent" correctly. Should be chronological order when using "most recent" setting, but it's usually not even close. Under notifications, it'd be nice to show the name or group (who the notification is from) shaded in a different color.

I want to stop Facebook's sharing and advertising in their app. And avoid its battery usage. I haven't paid for swipe yet because I want to make sure it's ok to use before paying for ad blocking. So far it's great. Does everything I want and where it's different to the Facebook app it's different in a good and intuitive way. I'll update this review in a day or two when I've tried out the ad blocking.

Absolutely love this app, it's everything Facebook SHOULD be. One thing though, please let us reorder or swap out options on the tabs menu. I would much rather go straight to my notifications from my feed instead of having to skip past friends first. I don't get friend requests nearly enough to warrant having that entire tab there in the way of the other stuff I'm trying to get to. Also on the friends tab, let us show suggestions by default instead of requests by default (optional).

Everything is slow to open, scroll and everything else. After using many FB alternatives, I rate this as one of the lowest overall. Scrolling, saving, downloading among others takes an incredibly long time while most other apps are much much faster. Screen consistently freezes while scrolling, no option to download to SD card. Plus a host of other issues.

Inconsistent experience using the app. Certain features work wonderully, but certain features do not function at all. Looking at pictures is non-functional and opening comments only works about half of the time. Simply browsing and basic features are great, but there are many bugs which make it hard to recommend at times.

Dor. A. H. Aug 1, 2020

The app settings and customizations are awesome, but the Inconsistent performance is a pain. I'll get notifications two weeks late, live videos don't play, photos are a pain to upload, liking a post takes forever, gifs don't upload, etc. If you just want to scroll a feed and not really interact, this app is great. But if you want a full experience, this isn't the app for you.

Dark theme needs a lot of work. I've tried many Facebook alternatives here. Swipe is the best in terms of functionality but the worst in theming. Many parts unthemed resulting in white text on white; or questionable theming resulting in dark gray text on black. Both cases happen more in Swipe than other alternatives. Hope this aspect can be improved much further.

I find this ideal to use as a light user who likes to just see posts from people I am interested in, and not a whole of other stuff being forced on me. Occasionally I have problems with the newsfeed going back to just showing older posts, but then I read that Facebook has just altered their code, so I think it sometimes messes with apps like this for a while. Swipe is easy to customise compared to FB, and is streets ahead for me in all aspects that matter to me with a social media portal.

Loving it so far! Much more customizable and less demanding than the Facebook app. I especially like the different themes (yay dark theme!), ad blocker, and notification filter. Paid for the pro version and haven't regretted it yet. Minor issue is that notifications will sometimes stay unread, but that's not really a big deal (submitted a bug report already.) Can recommend!

This is a good app, with lots of customisation. Some of the animations could be a bit more sophisticated and less playful (e.g. Clicking on comments). But overall it works well and most of the customisation options are great e.g. Layout, colour, open links with Browser, messages with Messenger.. (Only one I didn't like was "inject Material Design") I have deducted one star because often the notification icon does not change when I have read my notifications, and is very persistent.

Won. V. Feb 3, 2019

the look can be customised! so cool, but the main thing I have no ads in news feed! thank you! edit after 24h use of paid pro: ok I was hyped at first, but here is more suggestions, the app became slow and laggy, there is missing options original fb app has, such as video/voice calls via messages, I am not able to send posts via messages, and overall clicking the buttons is a hard task, really wish it could be improved

And. G. Feb 8, 2021

Good, but with a few glitches... So I paid really quickly as I wanted to be rid of the adverts I get using the Facebook app... And that part works flawlessly! Customisation options are excellent also. Issues are that some pages seem to load slowly, and as others have mentioned the built in messenger doesn't work, so I'm still using Facebook's messenger. There are a few other minor glitches, but nothing to worry about. All in all I'm very pleased I found this app.

Ahm. D. Apr 16, 2019

The app isn't as smooth as Facebook app. The time line updating algorithm is very bad. Time line will show empty on no or bad connection even if it's already leaded before. The app is super sensitive to touches and will trigger tens of false touches. Messenger thing usually takes me to the first message in a conversation even if it's not the recent one. That happens in few conversations, not all of them. Messenger heads doesn't play media such as attached video.

This is so much better than Facebook's own app. Please leave the way you can switch from Chronological order (which I like) and the way Facebook has news feed most like and comment (hate) with one simple click. So streamlined and has built in messenger and nothing is intrusive or hogging so much ram. Even after several days of use it has very small amount of cache data around 30M were the Facebook app would have over 1G during that time. Only improvement I think it needs is to be able to delete the notifications and maybe a widget that just shows number of notifications and messages. Thank you

I'm glad that this app exists, but in some instances it's extremely frustrating. It's especially difficult to send a message from someone's profile (i.e. starting a new conversation), because the pop-up keyboard disappears and reappears uncontrollably. I just tried for 10 min and went to my laptop in the end.. is this something that can please be fixed in the next update? Also the back button always takes me to news feed instead of the previous page. If it wasn't for these two things (mostly messaging), I would consider Swipe a 5star app.
