SXFI App: Magic of Super X-Fi

Imagine capturing the listening experience of a high-end multi-speaker system in a professional studio, and recreating the same expansive experience - with the original depth, detail, realism, and immersiveness – in your headphones. Welcome to the magic of Super X-Fi with SXFI App!

Super X-Fi technology works by mapping the head and ear, and transforming audio based on those features, for the individual. It allows you to experience audio as if it’s coming from outside the headphones, and the headphones seemingly disappear!

Leveraging on leading-edge precision technology that maps the distinct acoustics of an audio system projecting sound to the human ear in three-dimensional space, the SXFI App utilizes Super X-Fi technology to deliver a holographic audio experience that intelligently translates that complex information into an identical breath-taking listening experience for the headphones.

In addition, everybody hears sound differently in the real world, depending on the shape of one's ears and structure of the head. The Super X-Fi technology further uses Artificial Intelligence to predict how an individual hears sound based on the map of the individual's head and ear, then utilizes computational audio to transform and custom tailor the audio to each individual, so that it sounds perfect to each and every one, and like what they hear in the real world.

Key Features:

* Built-in Super X-Fi technology lets you magically experience audio as if it’s coming from outside your headphones.

* Easy-to-use smart device camera-enabled head mapping that captures your unique head and ear features for a tailor-made audio profile--get the most natural headphone listening experience!

* Supports playback of local music files stored in your device.

* 10-band Equalizer for further audio customization.

I appreciate the idea but sadly the app has its issues. The head mapping is ridiculously difficult. I had it set up the first time within 3 mins but i had to delete my account to try to link with the creative app. So i had to redo the head mapping and after 10 mins turning my head and nothing happening for the final left ear i gave up. But when i had it working the first time the demo song wasn't bad but my local song sounded like it came from cheap speakers across the room.

The Super X-FI amp no longer works reliably after the most recent firmware update. Using the amp with UAPP (to play DSF and DSD files) no longer works, and other apps such as Spotify don't work unless the SXFI app is opened first, and even then only sporadically. The amp is a great product, but the new firmware update has rendered it basically useless. It should just work after you plug it in. Please fix this, or let us roll the update back.

I am using Outlier Gold on my Xiaomi Mi 8, the app works out fine, I can play local music and all. BUT, I CAN'T FINISH THE MAPPING PROCESS BECAUSE THE APP CAN'T RECOGNIZE MY EARS. That's my only problem. Overall the bluetooth ear buds are great!

Can only get the effects when playing the very limited play list on this app. Feel very shortchanged because these effects should be available to all music or video apps

Please allow user to choose to downgrade to older firmware. The new firmware is problematic and gives pop and crackle on playback. It's also break UAPP hiby music, Spotify and other streaming apps playback.

At first I couldn't enabled the x-fi mode on "outlier air v2 sports", but after 2 days and a restart, it can be enable! Still my product is not in the list!!! It is available the options "outlier air v2" and "outlier sports" but not the option "outlier air sports v2". On "outlier air v2" profile it's exactly the same quality as the wired jack...I will wait for the actual profile to have a holistic approach 😊

Unfortunately no sofa or hrir.wav files are supported, so all depends on creative's algorithms limited to 2d photos. Why doesn't creative provide a studio measurement with in-ear mics or make use of the depth sensor of some smartphones for a real 3d scan?

Recently, my amp can't control sound over others app on phone anymore like Music center, YouTube. Become malfunction and destroy sound. Require to clear cache, reconnect and sometime still malfunction. Anyway on PC is work just fine like usual.

Not happy with overwhelming reverb effect in Super XFI mode. It is strange that in speaker realm companies are selling acoustics dampening materials etc. to fight unwanted room echo. But in headphone realm they are selling HW/SW to add this echo. At least you could offer possibility adjust amount of reverb.

Please add back support for android 7 nougat! This was removed in the latest release and is supported on version 2.56

Weird at first when you've been so used to listening to music "normally". It takes a little while to adjust to listening to the music "outside" of your head, and if you start off with Lady Gaga, the difference is almost painful (EQ settings are essential for the adjustment). But after getting used to it, Norah Jones sounds like night and day between turning the amp on and off. There's depth to her voice that you've never heard before. Vocals are still weird, but I think it'll get better soon.

I'm using this app with the Outlier Air Gold. Was it worth paying an extra 30 dollars for Super X-Fi? NO. SXFI is just an application of reverb effects; something that other apps can provide for free, and I can't say the effect is great either. SXFI makes clear, crisp vocals sound like they were sung from the bottom of a pool. Also, this SXFI App is even worse than my default music player; you can't save playlists, and there's a weird bug that keeps resetting the volume to 0.

Sounds rich and powerful with the Amp device, most suitable for multi-channel audio such as movies. Not so great with just the app. For stereo music, it gives an expansion effect that sounds strange at first, but it made me realised why I usually turn the volume down as music sounds too close for comfort. With this stereo expansion, I don't feel so claustrophobic. Nice improvement for everyday music. Hope there's a version for Bluetooth earphones so that it's less cumbersome.

[Edit: One more gripe - the voice prompt in different modes varies in volume depending on the volume setting. If I have a media with very low volume, I up the volume to acceptable level then the voice prompt becomes super loud for that mode. That's stupid! Voice prompt should be in fixed volume level for all.] Just got my Air. Initial setup/operation rather confusing. Volume control also didn't work. Thought I got a lemon. Hard reset and re-tried then got it to work. Firmware still not stable. Encountered few times of freeze with beep sounds and no 'OFF' voice prompt when off now. Battery not lasting. User manual states 8 hours but the box re-labeled as 10 hours (still can see the original printing of 8 hours underneath). Bluetooth latency is there for movies. Sound quality is quite good for music, maybe because it's first time I'm using headphones at this price range. Equalizer use is required for me. The 'exponential expansion of soundstage' claim for movies is exaggerate. Still it's better than the total in-head sound effect of common headphones. The similar surround effect actually can be achieved by some other software or audio utility, not necessarily only by SXFI.

I have been using this with the Super X-Fi amp for over a year, bought shortly after launch and with a pair of Creative Aurvana Trio a while after using the bundled headphones. Used it when it was Gen 1, and then after the sound profile was upgraded to Gen 2. Not an audiophile, but there is a huge difference when the effects are switched on. It doesn't work on everything, and needs a bit of adjustment. HUGE improvement on streaming media especially videos, really immerses you. Amazing tech!

All my music is in folders, the folders are the album. App doesn't recognise this and instead tries to look for metadata but since I'm using high quality files (AIFF) it won't show the album. The app makes the music sound good. The app needs an internet connection to operate local files which is a absolute disaster. Makes it useless for travelling. Waste of money on outlier golds for this. Avoid all future Creative products unless they address this, they can't just move on and not fix.

Depends on your device. Works great on Galaxy s8, but not at all on Galaxy s10+. I was disappointed that it will not even turn on with the 10+. Both are on Verizon in the USA. I hope this can be fixed with an update, but if you have the 10+ don't expect this to work at all. The biggest bummer is that i loved it on my old phone and can't use it on my new one!

Adv. Nov 30, 2020

Please add folder structure! PLEASE! I have several folders of radio top charts - 1500+ songs in each and 600+ musicians total, 1200+ albums! I cannot use the app without folders structure. Please hear me and a lot of people here and who are shy to say that! Updated: I hate it! This useless thing doesn't understand Playlists made on a phone! It doesn't understand folder structure! I cannot use it at all!!!!!! What a stupid developers do you have who cannot do simple things like all others???!

Really awesome watching movies on the Roku using this through the phone app. Makes it feel like it's more immersive. Only 1 star until the app stops blasting at full power to scan your face through the headphones when you first plug it in every time. Not all of us want our faces scanned and sent to who knows where. Get rid of the overly loud reminder and stop crushing people's ears with it so we can enjoy it.

It needs more features. Considering the X-fi function on the Outlier Golds only works through this app, it needs to be more robust if it is intended to replace whatever people are currently using to play music. To this day I still use Creative's Media Source 5 player/organizer. This app needs to emulate some of the functions that software has. It at least needs a recently added, and recently played songs. It sometimes crashes and I need to restart the phone for it to work again.

Really loving my Super X-Fi Amp! The recent firmware update took care of my biggest complaint with the reverb. Next I'd love to see more headphone models supported. I found a profile that works well enough for my headphones, but I have a pretty popular set from Sennheiser (HD-25 II), as well as great up-and-comer Master & Dynamic, that I'd love to see officially supported. Overall, this was as good as expected after all the rave reviews, and I have been listening to music again every day as a result.

Doesn't even run on my Pixel 2XL with Android 11. The screen goes black and then it crashes back to the home screen. Slightly annoying when you've paid a decent amount of money for some hardware, but the software to go with it doesn't work. And before anyone asks, yes, I've rebooted my phone and tried reinstalling the app a few times. No joy.

Seems like it requires the app and head mapping just to activate sxfi on the pc. Can't seem to activate it without doing that, and reddit posts seem to confirm.

Slugish interface, connection to Creative GC7 is hit and miss - sometimes it works right away, in other cases I need to restart GC7 and/or SXFI app and/or bluetooth on my phone. Application of a new profile or just changing headphones type is painfully slow (and sometimes doesn't work at all). Better choose one profile and headphones and stick to them, it definitely isn't suitable for often changes (like for multiple users or headphones).

Come on. Just add a create playlist function already. That's basic for a music player 😕
