Purchased one bulb yesterday and followed the instructions to the letter. It worked. But the first time I left the house, it stopped working and the app eliminated the location and device from ever being installed. I was still logged in, but it showed no devices installed. Tried to reinstall and would not recognize the bulb. Unplugged lamp and left it unplugged for a few hours. Still not recognized but at least it is constant on as a regular bulb- just without any of the features that made this bulb expensive. I also noticed that the replies from "LEDVANCE LLC" are all the same - so it looks like they might be automated - since they are not helpful at all.

Basically trash. Don't waste your money on these. I purchased 3, all of them eventually stopped functioning in some way. Pick your poison, they either: 1: will refuse to connect to your device 2: connect, but then you try and change the color and it will softlock the bulb to 50% brightness and there's no way you can turn it back up unless you reset. (Not fun) 3: will work occasionally when the stars align and there's a full moon ONLY. When it's not working it will give you seizures.

It was pretty easy to set up and has a great spectrum of colors. I haven't connected it to any Google home, only to my smartphone. it's a nice to control from my phone when I don't want to get up. I did struggle with it a little when it disconnected and wouldn't reconnect, but I was able to reset it after flickering the light switch on and off 5x. It reconnect right away. I just recommend adding some patterns, presets, or changing affects, but so far it's been neat.

Pathetic. Worked just fine up until today when I tried to set them up with my new Alexa. All of a sudden 2 of the NEWER bulbs just shut off and now won't turn back on at all. I tried reconnecting through the smart home app, doesn't work, and Alexa says that they're unresponsive. You don't say? You smartplussupport website is complete garbage too, by the way. Can't find a single thing to help in the slightest. Looks like I'll be slinging some extra money towards the GE brand. At least they care!

Google home is only reading the light as an outlet and is not in control. I've followed all the instructions, as given, and also spent about 5 hours researching other fixes. The in-built app is missing many features that Google Home would have, so this is a must. All my research points to this being a software/firmware error in Sylvanis's. So the app or it's background database is the issue. Please fix, and I'll update the review if it works.

There was no option to use this app by itself to control my BT lights. It only gave the option to use other voice assistant apps. Those apps require their brand of wifi connected hub device to play mediator the Sylvania bulbs. I only fiddled for 10 minutes. When I shut off and went to swap out the BT bulb, I found it was absurdly hot to the touch, and to the point that I would expect the bulb to overheat intself into a failure to operate over the course of running it in a very short time. Bad.

This app was designed and coded by a very poorly trained team of monkeys. Constantly forgets which lights are paired. Can't really do color gradients. No programmable settings. Lights that occasionally don't respond or have a mind of their own. The app also definitely has a mind of its own. Stay AWAY and save up for Phillips Hue lights

Device only works for 15 minutes before it will disconnect and then flashes all the color options till it's turned off. After that you can't reconnect it even after I deleted the device it just wouldn't reconnect. You app update doesn't help anything either all it does is close the app and then I open it back up and it asks me to do the same update.

Tldr: it's hot garbage. Not intuitive. Took 1 hr+ to get it to connect to the bulb even with tutorials. App is buggy. Says u need to update firmware every time u open even after updating. If u forget to turn Bluetooth on before opening app u have to close and reopen. Disconnects if u go out of the app even when u check "run in background". Wants to know ur location even though it's Bluetooth. Doesn't work with Google assistant. Doesn't work in some light fixtures. Bulb and app are useless.

This is the worst pairing experience I have ever had. I've tried every pairing method. Within twenty to forty seconds after pairing starts the light goes off and starts blinking again. Then the 100 second long pairing percentage crawl ends... To tell me the pairing timed out. I've changed my SSID several times after using the provided ASUS setting, even turned off my 5G. Having to renter the SSID password hundreds of times is infuriating. Can't even send a troubleshooting report!!!!

Terrible! Too bad it won't allow no stars. Don't waste your money. I've used several varieties of smart light bulbs, this is BY FAR THE WORST!!!!!!! Poor connectivity with Alexa. My lights all come on by schedule, this is the only one that comes on as scheduled maybe once a week as programmed, no problems with any of the others. Today it won't even turn on in the sylvania app. On rare occasions when it does work/ respond to voice commands through Alexa, there is nearly a 30 second delay. AVOID!!

The app is very difficult to get to work with the Sylvania smart bulb I purchased. I'm not quite sure why I need an account to use a Bluetooth connection. It seems that the app is more about data mining than controlling my product. Secondly, get rid of the output slide. The controllers don't have 100 discrete output levels. In my testing, I was able to identify about 10 different levels that the bulb could output. A simple up and down button would be easier to use for controlling light output.

It'd be nice to have my devices work. I bought a smart plug and a smart light. I tried for 30 minutes, reading instructions 5x over and reviewed all the videos that make it look so easy. The app would not acknowledge either device. What they don't tell you is the devices are useless to any hub unless you connect them within this app first. So disappointed. I guess you get what you paid for.

Horrible... I have the Flex C strip that I use for light behind my TV. When I first got it I was happy but that ended after about a week. It keeps disconnecting from the "network". I've tried rebooting the lights and nothing. Just one time it'll work and then most of the time won't work anymore. I will definitely be going with a different brand unless this app gets fixed.

Froze the first time I tried syncing (er, provisioning) the lights, and when I restarted the app, firmware had to update all over again. This app is also incapable of doing more than one thing at a time. It updated each light individually and synced each individually. At least it worked after the setup was finally done. Most annoying was that the app wants access to my location and access to my files? Wait, Why!?! Its a app that turns things on and off through Bluetooth, no reason for this!

I normally subscribe to the philosophy, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all", but in the case of this app, I just can't remain silent. Right out of the box, pairing this app with the lights was a constant. With endless resets, uninstalls and repairing, I would be lucky to get them to respond for more than a few hours...and don't get me started on the battery drain from this app that insists on running full tilt boogie in the background, even when it's unresponsive. Useless

For the last two years I have been using the app and I have been very satisfied with the app and the lights. Today I went into the app and I noticed that I have never did an update on them, so I did the update and now I can't use them. They blinked a couple of times in different colors and then came on White and they will not turn off or change colors or even dim. I'm also not able to connect with the network or bluetooth. I can't even delete my settings so I can start over.

The app is very disappointing, I'll ignore the fact that I device has to have the app running in the background for the lights to work at all. What kills it for me or not being able to set up themes or color cycles, perhaps I'm too used to the options my computer gives me with the RGB lighting. Perhaps the developer should take a look at the computer industry.

I have an entire smart home so I am fairly comfortable setting up new smart devices and linking them. I have never been able to link my device, and the app won't allow me to delete the device or the entire room to start over. When I try to refresh the network it says unable. I have reset the device several times but still nothing will link.

The most recent update seems to have messed up the warm-cool light settings because now it only selects one temperature for lighting, just the neutral white. I like to use warm lighting & now it won't change to that when I choose it. The color selector still works, but the yellow in that section is not the same as the yellow in the warm-cool section. It seems to "freeze" a lot now, too, getting stuck when I try to change the color, & the dimming is odd now. I really like how it worked before.

I've had this about a week, and it like I less and less. If the app quits for any reason, I've had to uninstall and reinstall it, reconnect to the bulb...what a hassle. Also the app needs more, easy features, e.g. timers, wake up alarms with gradual increasing brightness for a wake up or gradual dimming for nighttime. Fun concept, comes up short. And then the link they provided as a reply to this review, doesn’t work. Not making new customers Sylvania.

Possibly the worst app I've ever tried since I've been on Android (and I've been on Android for a good solid ten years). Issues: Constantly loses connection to the network. Doesn't recognize the devices on the network. Provisioning the device is extremely finicky and I usually have to attempt this every few days to reset the app - device because obviously (see above) the network will never connect to the device. What luck, this was my first IoT device. Tech like this is really not worth it.

It's going back! Fwiw, I had no issues setting up the light bulb. Registering is annoying but I can live with it. Another reviewer mentioned the bulb dimming. On the Cool/Warm control, the bulb will return to original brightness, but on the Color control, bulb stays very dim. Also, there are no cycle or mode selections that I could find in the app. It would also be handy to have a hex or rgb entry. For these reasons, the cheapo led bulbs plus remote are still the better option.

Useless. Constantly loses connection to network. I have 18 other brands of devices that have zero issues. I'm lucky if this product works more than once after resetting it. Totally useless. Very disappointed I will probably never buy another Sylvania product ever again. Just sucks because I bought about 20 of them and I don't think I can give them away.

As others have said, this app is pure trash. The same issues are expressed again and again here, and it's quite apparent that the developer doesn't care to fix them. I set one up on iOS for a family member and it connected and was usable in 20 seconds. Not so on Android. Going on 30 minutes here. It finds the bulb, updates, then when I continue to add the bulb, it fails and forces me to start over again. Run away from this dumpster fire.

I've tried to set up a Sylvania account twice through the app. Each time I've either gotten kicked out of the app, or switched to my email to check my verification code. If you leave the app before putting in the code you're locked out of verifying your account and have to start the process all over with a new email. The bulb itself works well enough with Google but this app is pretty much useless.

Absolutely atrocious product, app, everything. Very first problem I had with my Sylvania light strip was that it didn't actually fully stick to the wall, so now half of it droops down. Second problem was getting it connected to my google smart products. After about an hour I finally got it connected and was able to voice control it for about 3 hours. Now it has disconnected again and the light strip can't be found even though it is 3 inches away from my phone. Waste of time and money.

I think they call it smart because if you don't have a high IQ you won't get it working or keep it working. I had it working one day and then couldn't connect to it the next. After uninstalling the app, restarting my phone and reinstalling the app I was able to get it working again and got it connected to Google. I've never had a very good experience with Sylvania. I vow never to buy one of their products again. I have better things to do than mess with poorly designed products.

It works for my needs but I do wish it included scheduling. Alexa integration didn't work last week (device unresponsive) but I guess I should try it again since the app was updated on 10/8/19 - will do so when I get home and update my review as needed. Connectivity can be flaky at times but that's likely due to bluetooth range and dropping connection.

Constantly disconnects. Constantly need to use the app itself as it diconnects and is unavailable with Google assistant on a daily basis. If that wasn't bad enough, for the last week I can't even get the lights to obey the native app and can only use the lights with traditional switch. Complete waste of money, very unhappy. Never Sylvania again, not even for automotive lighting. Gee, thanks for the entirely impersonal contact info letting me know you really want to APPEAR to have tried.
