Synology Chat

Great app, and brilliant to have my own secure chat app for family. However I have a Chinese Asus Rog phone 3 tencent edition. It's running global software but never receives notification. Other phones have no issue.

Very pleasantly surprised, was looking for a Slack-like hosted solution and Synology delivers! Gripes at this time is the lack of a dark mode, the chat window is rather bright regardless of which theme you pick. Also, on Xiaomi it may sometimes be required to open the app before it detects new messages even with battery optimization disabled. I've since also enabled Autostart, maybe that fixed it.

Good when it works but has a number of bugs. 1. Often does not load notifications or there may be a huge delay in it doing so. 2. Messages dont allways load or refres in the app. 3. when you click on a notification it takes you to the app but has doesnt load the messages just a blank page. 4. photos dont upload properly upload box stays on 100% and app needs restating. 5. no custom notifications. With the exception of 5 these dont happen on the desktop client. Tested with ip and quick connect.

Please update app. Using offline through a local LAN with multiple wifi access points. App works well, but push notifications do now work on any of the 30 devices are using. A mix of all types of devices, brands, Android, iOS, etc. We've gone through every setting and option and 0 devices work. Again, no internet access where we are, just a large wifi network with synology NAS as our source of entertainment and communication. Messages come through, but there are no notifications

After some time (20times a day) I am getting error that synology chat not installed/enabled and have to relogin. Tried to uninstall and install app on dsm but didn't help

Latest versions have annoying chat bubble feature that no matter how many times you tell it not to bubble a chat, a few days later it starts again. Also still lacking the ability to login to more than one Synology chat server at a time. Application is getting worse not better.

notifications on my samsung j6+, and galaxy tab S 8 (2019) doesnt work anymore after latest update. It used to work perfectly giving a notification on the top of the screen and also gives notification counters. Now both are missing. messages still comes in but slower now.

Mostly works great. The app shouldn't be able to be closed when it's running in the background, this causes notifications to stop coming in. Even with battery optimization off it will still eventually close. Definitely needs a dark mode ASAP.

Great app, I'd give 5 stars if it had two more features. 1: The ability to quote a previous message. 2: to have the option of dark mode, my eyes water in pain during the night.

It has some problems parsing the markdown. The messages in the web version look often different from the app version. Would love it if the markdown parsing in the app is improved. Would help my bot a lot.

Great app. Had a baby recently and I have been able to setup family members with accounts and they just load the app on their phone or use it via web or app on their computer to chat and send full quality pics and videos to them within my own synology setup. I will say I'd like a dark theme for all the apps or at least the phone. Its a bit bright when the chats all white. Great app! My ISP hates it HAHA

Edit: After the latest update, it works perfectly. The only issue now is that the Windows client doesn't go to sleep, so mobile notifications don't come through.

It does the job but unfortunately notification doesn't work on Mate10 and P30, even notifs are on on app and channel for all msgs, and permissions allowed. Without notification, it can't be used.

It's a very great app, my class use it as a Chat for work, but my problem is, I always disconnect and I have to uninstall it and log in again. I hope it changes

Could be usefull when trying to keep private (family for us) chats... private. But, not that usable for now since there is no notification and we have to fall back to classical intrusive services...

Notifications are not showing up on mobile device. Have to open app on phone to see if there any new chats. No documention for port forwarding chat ports available either.

I'm so happy you guys added bubbles, makes this a viable method of communication on my phone. Only thing I really want now is a dark mode, it's basically standard for most websites let alone a messaging app

It seems to generally work so far. However I would really like it if the app followed my device preferences for dark mode or supported dark mode at all.

Great chat program, would be even better if you added the ability to see message was delivered and when it was read.

Fails to play shared videos 100% of the time, and I've have tried letting it use multiple video playing apps.

I didn't end up keeping this service running on my NAS, but I did give it a run for awhile and it work very well. I like the encrypted option.

No notification. When are you going to fix this issue? So many user had complaint about the notification issue since beginning of 2019. Now is the end of 2019. Are you going to take century to fix this issue?

Great app for chatting with family and team members. Best part is I get to OWN all the communication data since it's saved on my on NAS. A few more administrative tools, and this chat app will be top notch!

Android version is kind of ok, unfortunately the Windows version contains confirmed bug not fixed for more then 3 months already (encryption when using reverse proxy)

For this app to work, you must allow apps in Quickconnect - Advanced. In case someone os wondering why it doesn't connect.

Pretty much OK, would need some additional features tough, like PTT voice messages and perhaps a black/dark mode

How is there no dark mode on this app yet? And all the other synology mobile apps...

I like the app, but it could be improved with dark mode (preferably black) and also better implementation of Gifs so that they show up with big previews in the chat and not these small boxes.
