Beside the troubles I had to connect using the quickconnect ID with a different default port (for security), why would I ever need an app that synchronize files one by one??? If I'm travelling, I want a folder to be kept in sync with all the relevant documents, I don't want to add document one by one. Disgrace of a behavior, after disabling DS Cloud in DSM 7 and calling this "the better version", I even went as far as side-downloading version 2.5, but it's just an useless app to me.
Removing support for syncing specific folders (DS cloud) without any replacement was a big mistake. It was one of my main use cases for the Synology NAS. Drive version 2.5 which isn't even officially released yet doesn't solve it either, as it's not possible to do e.g. one-directional backups. I sincerely hope this is solved and the once existing features will return.
Okay, File sync is back at last! Still don't get the idea to make a half-baked audio station out of Drive(Just fix AudioStation!). Still don't understand the usefulness of read-only Office docs mode. But it is at least something. Far from perfect but deserves a chance, as whole Synology brand in general.
After upgrading to DSM 7.0 I was told I have to use this app. Now I cannot sign in to Drive at all. Security Camera and Photo backups are working with the other apps. This is the only one that doesn't work. Edit: disabling HTTPS allowed me to sign in. However, this is insane and insecure. Additionally, I can only view files in the Drive, not files in any of my separately setup shares. This functionality is missing from this new app. Edit 2: you have to manually enable the shares from.
What it does, it does well. I have several important files bidirectionally sync'd across phone, server, desktop and laptop. However, I'm docking 2 start because I can't choose other folders to sync (such as my DCIM folder). As others noted, this is a weakness in Syno Drive brought to light as the semi-unrelated removal of DS Cloud sync (and Drive gets advertised as being the replacement). Drive doesn't accomplish the great capability of DS Cloud.
This cannot synchronize folders, which is literally the only thing I want it to be able to do. Marking individual folders for offline access is a pain, and it seems like this app has a very aggressive anti-caching strategy; I have had it remove downloaded files while I was in the middle of viewing them in another application. There's literally no reason to use this when Synology's own DS File app is better for remote file management and downloading.
The only good thing I can say about this app is that it looks nice. The critical functionality that people buy Synology NAS's for is missing (no folder sync, files must be manually selected individually, one at a time). Plus there seem to be arbitrary limits on the number of files. Avoid!! Buy something else!
They depreciated DSCloud and this is the replacement. Doesn't allow you to auto sync files from your mobile device which was very useful for keeping your mobile devices files and cherished photos safe. If you want to back up your thousands of photos using this app, you must upload them one by one. They have depreciated a useful app for a useless one. The Features are going backwards not forwards.
First of all, the name "Synology Drive" suggests that this app is a cloud Drive app. Well, it's not. It is just a Drive explorer - does not allow to sync local folders, only for viewing and downloading files. So basically it is a web browser for the Synology Drive. Name "Synology Driver Portal" or "Synology Drive Explorer" would be more accurate. Fortunately you can still use DS Cloud android app to sync your folders with the Synology Drive on your NAS. Furthermore the app has many bugs and problems. I was not able to connect to my NAS without contacting the support. Obviously that was not the case with DS Cloud. It feels like the Drive application was implemented by some other company than other Synology apps, without Quality Assurance process in place. I believe the UX of the application is terrible - no explanation of the fields to use, incorrect labels, error alerts which were false - figured it out after contacting the support. @Synology, I respect your company among others because of your software. I believe you have the best software for NAS servers and routers. But this particular android app is in my opinion below the quality level of your company. Please consider making some major changes to it. I know that if you want, you can make software that brings "wow" in me. Kind regards
Does what it is intended for and works as designed. But I am definitely missing the capability that third party apps are able to write data back to the Synology drive folders. E.g: Keepass2Android is not able to write back to SynologyDrive. This feature is available with Dropbox. But I want such critical data to stay on-premises and I was hoping to be able to do that with SynologyDrive...
Only manual upload and only by selecting particular files or whole content of folder (files and subfolders), but im not able to select whole folder. But the largest disadvantage is the problem that it does not allow me to sync the required folder automatically as it was possible in DS Cloud. Synology took a large step back with this approach: i was using it for business, now i need to find the solution to finish the project 3 weeks before deadline. Not cool, not cool at all :(
No offline for folders no two ways sync. The app looks promising but is missing those two features that are the most basic ones and features we had in DS cloud Update. Just realized there is a version 2.5 that is in the synology page. I'm guessing Google didn't like the app, however the update is everything I was looking for and more
This app ensures that my photos, videos and all other documents are in one place. That is a big advantage to have. I would want the designers to develop the ability to auto update from the phone gallery which can save time and effort of the user. The developers MUST develop the ability for the app to view and add files to a shared/common folder of multiple users of a single Synology DiskStation. Another area to develop is the speed at which the app connects to the Synology device.
Unfortunately I updated to Drive on my NAS so I had to update to Drive on my phone also. Don't do it! If you want your files synched like DScloud used to do. This app does not contain this function, files are not available for other apps on your phone and most worse the DScloud app is not connecting to Drive, so now I cannot synch my files to my phone. Very disappointing and annoying! What a useless app this way.
This is a very dangerous app it leads you into to believe that it has saved data only to remove it. I installed this app and its addon 2.5 to do cloud sync of my sd card.. I checked and it was in the place I had backed it up to. I restarted the sync app and was surprised to see it start syncing the files again. I checked the NAS and the files were gone. I have rerun a few times and each time the files vanish on the NAS as soon as it restarts.
1000 listing cap is just ridiculous. This app should be in the level of professional especially in terms of management files and folders, No? basically I can't even look up for folder size, it does appear as - . the 1000 cap also appears on other app like DS file. And there's no way to look up for more than that. It needs more regularly updates by the developer.
i really LOVE the synology NAS and all its features, but I'm also very disappointed that i need to use 3 different apps just to manage files btween my devices. ds drive - to browse most files and folders. ds file - to browse folders that are not team folders. ds cloud - to sync folders from my device to the nas. It would be ideal if users could use ONLY the drive app. or at least add an option to schedual automatic uploads of folders on the android device in the ds file app. ✌🏼
Same as so many others the ability to synchronise folders is a major issue. I'm not sure if Synology are reading the comments or taking any notice of the abysmally low score this app has, even the latest updates seem to ignore this gaping hole in the apps functionality. Can anyone suggest an Android app that might offer the right functionality, maybe if we point everyone to a rival app Synology might actually pay attention. Maybe not, these reviews must be driving hundreds of people away already
Well, i guess synology just don't want their user to have their own file on their phone because synology doesn't have the sync to device feature again, so all our file needs to be streamed from the internet, this mean literally useless, other apps that use the file can't see the file because there's no file on the device. Great job synology you only have one job and you mess it up
Synology is forcing its users to move from Cloudstation/DS Cloud to Synology Drive. DS Cloud could natively sync your files in the Android and IOS file systems. Synology Drive is just a NAS browser. * Does not allow files to be edited * Does not allow files to be accessed offline, unless marked individually (which slows the app to a crawl) * Cannot open ZIP files * Doesn't work at all on my iPad. Don't move off Cloudstation until Synology Drive is fixed!!! OR move to Google Drive, it's very good
I wish I had read of the 1000 file limit in Synology Drive before I bought this thing to store my stop motion photography content, that might be a deal breaker. Needs to have pause and resume for interrupted transfers to and from the ds220+, also bandwidth throttling. I expected more commonsense features after reading a glowing product review for the ds220+ and buying. I want this device to be more like Google Drive's UI.
I thought this would work like Dropbox, allowing me to 2 way sync a file that is edited and saved in another Android app. For example, changes to a KeePass data file using the KeePassDX app can be synced with DropBox. No such luck with Synology Drive, can't even see the KeePass file in anywhere on my file system. Giving up on this useless app.
Same as DS File. Very buggy app. Unusable Freezes. Locks up drive. Logins in only sometimes Additionally, it is called Synology Drive but only Drive once installed on Android. Very annoying when trying to search for the app. Going to simply use network browsing on PC to manage. Management on Android is non existant due to severe instability of app.
CloudStation worked flawlessly across multiple devices for many years. I have had to uninstall and reinstall Drive multiple times. The app does not appear to do any kind of sync from device to NAS. The developers should be FIRED!
Awful - they've lost the one function that was useful to me - the syncing of a single directory back to the NAS. Dear oh dear - "know thy customer!!!" You point us to the client v 3. but that's not got any timeline for when it's available and some of this function has been missing for ages - the product owner should be sacked !!! Responding to the link the team just added: You've sent me a link to a beta product. Why not just update it in the app store?? It looks really dodgy, and unprofessional. Please complete your testing and put it in the store.
The app seems to have most of the features the competitors offer. It works fine, but there are few things that would have been great. For example, when I'm uploading many files to the Drive through Android share button, some fails. I would have like to know the reason, and the files that have failed. Also, when uploading these files, it would have been great that the process runs in background so it doesn't block the phone during the upload (Dropbox does it).
