Syrp - Genie
The App is designed to be beginner timelapse friendly and includes a number of factory presets for instant setup as well as help screens and tutorials for ease of use. The Syrp Genie App can also be used to program record times, interval between shots and movement parameters.

This use to be a great app, but now i the panorama function will not work. It keeps saying "uh oh unable to turn to the desired position ". No matter how many times I try, it keeps doing the same thing 😫
It works but needs improvements. The biggest issue that it seems this app is being replaced with the one for the syrp Genie II. The latest firmware installed by the Genie II app renders this app usuless as the Genie mini connects but panning or tilting does not work, it ask you if you want to reload what seems to be an old firmware and if you flash it it does restore funtionality on this app but then the Genie II app wont let you use the Genie mini without updating the firmware.
Genie mini: turntable works opposite ie. CW turns CCW and vice versa. Also, reset spins 360° - what's the point, we're back already. Pls look into these, tx
App forced an update which bricked the mini. Support equally useless as all they offer is to reseat the battery. I now have a $200 paper weight.....
Can NEVER seems to updatevthe device...always fails. Very bad performance considering the price they are selling. Sabotaged a few of my impt shoots
I own the original Syrp and i am happy with it... My only concern is are you planning on upgrading the software to be as user friendly as the Gini 2...
Very buggy app, hopefully will be fixed soon or I will have chucked my money down the drain.

Excellent product for Time-lapse photography of Milky Way is what I use it for.
Very eratic in operation - tries to update software when starts up but fails every time ! Connects without issue but unable to progress past opening screen on most occasions. Not likely to purchase again based on the performance to date - maybe if the software updates....
Generally working, except my pan-tilt kit has trouble with panoramas. It only works with panning and rotates counter-clockwise even when clockwise rotation is selected.
Buggy and asks to update the firmware constantly. Unreliable as a app to support a pricey professional tool
Can't ignore shutters so basically useless for turn tables and landscapes... 5 stars if added to the app. Also there is a bug where if you max out the hdr time to 15 seconds its stuck there until you clear the app data/cache.
App is always losing Bluetooth connection and freaking out in the middle of 360 degree product shots. A really frustrating experience. Kind of makes the turntable not worth getting.
A good feature which can make the experience of using it more joyful is that I change the video mode settings to timelapse mode with touching a button. Sometimes I want to record a scene both the timelapse and video with the same setting. Please add it.
Had some issues with the Panorama side of the app Seems to have been caused by an antivirus app I had installed on my Samsung s7 seems to be working now

Why no offline setup? Let me enter my settings when I'm planning then push them to the genie when I'm ready. I always have my phone, I don't always have the genie.
love the genie mini, but the app is really pain in the a**. crashing so frequently is the most important issue that needs to be fixed. and even when it is working, sometimes the app is not responsive when i hit those buttons. apart from that, would love to have some manual features esp in time lapse mode, where i can set the duration and the interval separately. the bounce back festure should be given to time lapse mode too.
This app has finally beaten me. Software development should be completed before releasing it to people that have been locked into using it by purchasing the hardware. It is the worst example of a crowd funding project that seems to have nobody controlling the quality and usability, rather they work to a deadline and release unfinished and useless apps and firmware.
Release an SDK because this software is pathetic. Crashes, spastic behavior and clumsy interface. Poor concept from the beginning. Giving us users a say in how we want to setup a shoot would be wize. Starting over from a clean slate, give us an interface that is logical an easy to use. Better yet, make this a PC and Mac compatible software. A mobile phone is for talking to people on. What if you get a call while your setting up a shot? It won't even work on my Samsung Tablet with the same Android OS as my Samsung phone. The Genie Mini is and excellent concept and the hardware seams to work well. The App needs to be replaced.
The hardware for this product is fantastic, however the app itself as of writing this review doesn't work. If the app worked it would get 5 stars but since the hardware is unusable without the app it really deserves a 0. Do not buy if you have android phones
I have used the mini for about 10 time lapse clips. Varying from 400 to 800 photos and from 20 mins to 10 he long photography sessions. It ha been ised in tempetatures from 42 degrees c to -8. I like the way it is easy to set up and review the panning range. It is possible to set up a program without using the mini. I also like the way you can follow the progression of the photo and the angle, time etc. The battery life is good. However, the on off switch is very poor. I do find it problematic stopping the picture taking process and clearing the existing program and then reprogramming. There is another app qdslrdashboard which is supposed to interact with the mini to allow the camera's settings to be automatically changed for night to day and sunrise. On the Syrp webpage there is a description as to how to do this. I have spent many, many hours trying to get this to work, but failed. I find this a real and major letdown This is probably as much a fault of the qdslrdashboard developers. Unfortunately, I do not find the instructions lacking and you ruble clips are poor in this area.
Doesn't work at all. Literally all the "What's New" bug fixes are exactly what's going wrong. App wont launch most of the time and crashes often. Totally broken.
I really wanted to like Syrp, but they keep giving me reasons to hate them. I have the 3 axis kit. It started with them shipping me a defective open box item, then proceeded to drag their feet for a month to replace it. Finally after disputing and requesting a refund, they shipped me a replacement. When it works, it works fine. But the app is so full of bugs, it takes forever to set up. Every time there's a firmware update or app update, something breaks. Last time, it was a forced firmware update that bricked my mini in the middle of my 8 day backpacking trip in Chile. This time, it's the new turntable update that is crashing my app every time I try to access the + menu for the ease in ease out feature when it's in pan tilt mode (works fine when it's just panning mode). These problems, I will usually find a solution or the next release will get a fix, but as a professional who needs the device to be reliable, this is unacceptable. I didn't purchase this to be a beta tester. I will consider this purchase a lesson learned and switch to another brand for my next purchase.
No problems here. I have not tested pan and tilt setup in windy conditions yet. It will probably be too wobbly.
An absolute disgrace of an app. Takes forever just to connect the app to the genie. i often spend more time connecting than taking the time lapse itself! And once it's connected, the app crashes constantly.
